POTD: Peak Swedish Automatkarbin 5
Photo Of The Day with what could be the peak of the Swedish Ak5. The Automatkarbin 5 is a variant of the FN FNC, and it’s going to be replaced over the coming years by the Sako Ak24. This Ak5 looks like it’s brand new. The French captain just got an axe as a gift from the Swedish Coastal Rangers.
POTD: IPSC Mini Rifle - Rimfire With Stalon RC Suppressor
Photo Of The Day with some images of what shooters should do a lot more often - shoot rimfire suppressed. It’s very fun and (used to be) an inexpensive way to get a lot of training, without creating too much noise. In many ways, rimfire can be a great way to try out and perfect new shooting styles, like shooting on the move - which is very difficult as the rifle keeps on moving and bumping into your shoulder and other body parts.
POTD: Spanish & Italian Snipers - Barrett M95 & Victrix Scorpio
The wind blows cold, but TFB’s Photo Of The Day is on fire. We have snipers calibrating their rifles with a Labradar during Saber Strike 24 at Bemowo Piskie Training Area, Poland, on April 20, 2024. I’m not sure it’s suitable to keep the muzzle device of a Barrett M95 that close to any chronograph, but if it works it works.
POTD: Defence Australia - F89 Minimi Light Support Weapon
Photo Of The Day and we take a look at the F89 Minimi, which is an Australian-produced version of the FN Minimi light machine gun manufactured by Lithgow Arms. In Australia, it’s called a Light Support Weapon (LSW).
POTD: Germany’s Special Forces New Handguns - Walther PDP P14 and P14K
We do way too few pistols in our Photo Of The Day, but today’s contribution from Walther in Germany should keep everyone happy for quite a while. Above you see the Walther P14 PDP (Performance Duty Pistol) in 9x19 mm.
POTD: The Finnish Rk62 In The Hands Of U.S. Marines
We have recently seen a series of Photo Of The Day where U.S. Marines shoot various foreign firearms, in equally foreign places, and today is no different. Above you see U.S Marine Corps Sgt. Caleb Sumerel, a Spring Hill, Tennessee native and a section leader with Mobile Reconnaissance Company, 2d Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 2d Marine Division as he sets into a defense while conducting bilateral training with Finnish coastal brigade forces during joint exercise Keksi 24 in Upinniemi, Finland, May 16, 2024. At least he got to go there in the summertime!
POTD: U.S. Marines with Peruvian Uzi Submachine Guns
Photo Of The Day - The Uzi is many people’s favorite firearm until they get to fire one. But don’t let this statement ruin your dreams. Instead admire these wonderful images of running and gunning a pretty uncommon firearm. Above you see a U.S. Marine with 3rd Force Reconnaissance Company, 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve, as he fires an Uzi submachine gun during exercise Resolute Sentinel 24 at Base Naval De Infanteria De Marina, Lima, Peru, June 6, 2024.
POTD: Heckler & Koch MP5 with Aimpoint Micro T-2 Red Dot Sight
TFB’s Photo Of The Day is on a mission to collect high-quality photos from the world of firearms, and when Offensive Marketing Group and Aimpoint team up, using a Heckler & Koch as the main attraction, we know the end result will be stunning.
POTD: Royal Marines & Swedish Coastal Rangers
Photo Of The Day with a lovely mish-mash of firearms used by the armed forces of the United Kingdom and Sweden. The Royal Marines recently participated in the BALTOPS 2024 exercise, a significant annual NATO-led maritime exercise held in the Baltic Sea. This year’s exercise took place along the Swedish coastline, close to the capital Stockholm. The Royal Marines conducted various amphibious operations, showcasing their ability to operate in diverse and challenging environments.
POTD: Zenith Firearms - Suppressed ZF5
Photo Of The Day and today we have the pleasure of sharing more of the work of Holt Works Photography. It’s pretty clear, we have a Zenith Firearms ZF5 with a Yankee Hill Machine suppressor. The sight is an Aimpoint ACRO P-2 mounted on a Reptilia Corp. Pretty much a dream gun for a lot of people, including myself.
POTD: Colt Canada Modular Rail Rifle - Botswana Defence Force

POTD: Up-Close With The Next Generation Squad Weapon Testing
Photo Of The Day and now is the time to get up-close with the Next Generation Squad Weapon. There are a lot of new angles and circles in the design of this firearm and its optics. Above you see U.S. Army Sgt. Victor Don-Martinez, a forward observer with Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 1st Battalion, 113th Field Artillery Regiment, North Carolina Army National Guard, engaging targets with the XM7 rifle and XM157 scope, part of the Next Generation Squad Weapon system, during testing of the system at Fort Liberty, North Carolina.
POTD: U.S. Marines With The FAMAS In Action
Photo Of The Day and we have something rarely seen, a U.S. Marine with the French FAMAS in action. Do you think she wants to keep it or get back to her M27 as soon as possible?
POTD: The LMT M203 in Danish International Sniper Competition
The Royal Danish Army uses the GRK M/13, which is a M203 Grenade Launcher made by Lewis Machine & Tool Company. That’s our featured image for the Photo Of The Day, from the Danish International Sniper Competition where 32 teams from 14 nations competed with Allies and partner nations. Note the steep angle of the Aimpoint red dot, to get the aim right for the 40 mm potatoes.
POTD: U.S. Marine With M27 Reconnaissance Weapons Kit
What a delight! TFB’s Photo Of The Day with a U.S. Marine with the M27 Reconnaissance Weapons Kit (RWK) variant of the M27 / HK416 with an 11.0” barrel, EOTech EXPS and a PEQ-16 laser.
POTD: Indonesian Marines in Exercise Rim of the Pacific
The world is hungry for visual storytelling, and TFB’s Photo Of The Day does its best to keep the feed live. Here we have soldiers from the U.S. Marine Corps together with Malaysian soldiers assigned to the 8th Battalion (Para), Royal Ranger Regiment, 10th Parachute Brigade.
POTD: Peruvian Naval Infantry Marines - FN F2000
Photo Of The Day with possibly the rainiest image we have ever published. As you may know, the FN F2000 is nicknamed the “tactical tuna”? Above you see U.S. Marines assigned to Bravo Company, Battalion Landing Team 1/5, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, and Peruvian Naval Infantry marines run through dry-fire rehearsals during live-fire marksmanship training at Marine Corps Base Hawaii as part of Exercise Rim of the Pacific 2024, July 2.
POTD: Exercise Tanuki Bandit 24
Photo Of The Day - A U.S. Air Force explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) technician participating in Exercise Tanuki Bandit 24 fires a suppressed M110 A1 Semi-Automatic Sniper System at Draughn Range near Misawa Air Base, Japan, June 27, 2024. Check out the flying brass!
POTD: The Norma Solids - .416 Rigby 400gr in Ruger M77
Welcome to another edition of TFB’s Photo Of The Day! A friend posted this image and it’s too good not to be shared. We have a Ruger M77 416 Rigby, and it’s a thing of beauty. The rifle is probably from around the early 1990s and has the great, almighty rifle scope Z6i from Swarovski.
POTD: Finnish Conscripts Train with U.S. Service Weapons
Photo Of The Day - Finnish conscripts were engaged in a unique training exercise, learning to handle U.S. service weapons, specifically the M27 Infantry Automatic Rifle. The training took place in the dense forests of Upinniemi, Finland, as part of a collaborative effort with U.S. Marines. This exercise was a component of the 2024 Reconnaissance/Counter-Reconnaissance deployment in the Baltic Sea region, under Task Force 61/2.
POTD: Botswana Joint Combined Exchange Training 2024
Photo Of The Day - To the horizon and beyond. Today beyond means Thebephatshwa Air Base in Botswana, where members of the Botswana Defence Force practice shooting behind barriers during a Joint Combined Exchange Training. Botswana is a landlocked country in Southern Africa. The country is renowned for its diverse wildlife and stunning landscapes, including the Okavango Delta, and the Kalahari Desert.
POTD: Swedish Home Guard Demonstrates Automatkarbin 24 (Sako)
Photo Of The Day is the best online place to view the coolest images of firearms and soldiers. With the recent development in terms of national security in Sweden, and around Europe, one of the Generals said that Sweden and the Swedish Armed Forces must have a "forward-leaning mandate of violence". I think the image above portrays that pretty well, with the new and upcoming Automatkarbin 24, made by Sako in Finland.
POTD: Fielded - Next Generation Squad Weapon Rifle (NGSW-R); XM7
We are seeing more and more of the Next Generation Squad Weapons, and unsurprisingly these images are some of the most popular to look at - and comment on - among our Photo Of The Day series of articles.
POTD: Japanese Amphibious Rapid Deployment Brigade
Welcome to Japan and TFB's Photo Of The Day! The Amphibious Rapid Deployment Brigade is a marine unit within the Japan Self-Defense Forces (JSDF) tasked with executing amphibious operations. I'm pretty sure the firearms are Howa Type 20 going flat-out with tracers, but please correct me if I'm wrong.
POTD: The Colt Canada C20
Welcome to another Photo Of The Day! Today we take a look at the fantastic Colt Canada C20 in both its suppressed and unsuppressed form. If the optic interests you, please check our recent TFB Review: Schmidt & Bender 3-20×50 PM II Ultra Short Riflescope, which uses the C20's special color as well.

POTD: The Ukranian Combat Robot MOROZ
Photo Of The Day and we have something unusual to show: The Ukranian Combat Robot MOROZ, which can be equipped with a 7.62x51mm machine gun. Thanks to a camera with 30x zoom, a thermal imaging sight and a rangefinder, it can fight night and day.
POTD: U.K. Surveillance and Reconnaissance Squadron
TFB’s Photo Of The Day is here to stimulate your senses, your eyes and your brain. Sometimes just one image is enough. Here we have the Royal Commandos from the Surveillance and Reconnaissance Squadron, as they check if the beach is good enough for the backup to come.
POTD: The Swedish Automatkarbin 24 Full-Auto Suppressed
The new Swedish Automatkarbin 24 makes another appearance in TFB's Photo Of The Day. Ak24 for short, except it's AR patterned and not an AK. Although I bet the Finnish Army wished it was an AK! Above you can see the Ak24 with a suppressed, fired in full auto. I almost lean forward as I write this, to control the recoil. Please tell me you can feel it too!
