Each day, we feature a few stunning photographs that capture the beauty and diversity from the world of firearms. Today we’re off to the recent Swedish Championships in IPSC PCC, called Ockelbo 300 – SM PCC – Pistol Caliber Carbine. There were over 170 competitors in the match.

Photo Of The Day and we’re looking into the cleanest shooting range I have ever seen, don’t you agree? The “model” is the PGM Mini Hécate II, in PGM’s new shooting tunnel. The original design was for the 338 Lapua Magnum caliber, but it is now also available in calibers like 300 PRC, 300 Norma Magnum, 375 SwissP and similar to suit everyone’s needs.

The hungriest beast of them all on this blog is the Photo Of The Day you’re looking at right now. It needs hundreds of images each month, and its appetite has been going on for over 9 years. Above is a frame from when the U.S. Marines participated in a pistol shooting competition during the Force Headquarters Group Super Squad Competition. The location is the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, located in Alaska.

Photo Of The Day and today we go full auto in a rare rare caliber and firearm. Rare is of course a relative term, as over 43,000 units of this light machine gun were produced. For practical reasons, I think I’d prefer my BREN in 7.62×51mm NATO, how about you?

Thanks for joining us on TFB’s Photo Of The Day, where we’re not above showing you our mistakes, whether they will buff out or not. In today’s edition, you’re looking at a recent mishap where I was more focused on looking through my optic than I was making sure my muzzle was still far enough forward on my bag. In this particular case, I was running out of range time, making haste… and waste. The good news is that the zipper runners were both on the other side of the pouch, so I’ll be sewing up the zipper and patching the hole. This will hopefully mean that I’m only missing a couple inches of usable zipper space, this will buff out right?

Time for another  Photo Of The Day. Sometimes you stumble on interesting pictures that need to be shared, and we got the owner’s permission to do so. Since winter is soon upon us (yes, unfortunately), it might be a good time to paint a gun or two accordingly? This collection of firearms from Heckler & Koch is rather special, even without the Norwegian winter camo. There is a Mark 23 pistol, a H&K MR556, a H&K HK416 clone and a H&K G28 clone in there.

Photo Of The Day, and today there’s just one image to look at. Founded in 2015, MK Machining is a company that specializes in precision machining and manufacturing. Over the years I’ve met the founder in several exhibitions, and they always make a great impression. They are known for producing high-quality shooting accessories, throw levers, scope mounts and reloading equipment for the firearms industry. The company is based in the United States (Hallsville, MO) and has gained a reputation for their innovative and reliable products.

Big ships, big guns as USS Thomas Hudner lets the machine guns go in our Photo Of The Day. In this series of images, we’re looking at the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer as it conducts a test of its weapons in the Atlantic Ocean, on March 4, 2023. At the time, Thomas Hudner was underway as part of the USS Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group in the Atlantic Ocean executing its Composite Training Unit Exercise (COMPTUEX), in an intense, multi-week exercise.

I thought this pistol, carbine, PCC, SBR, rifle or however you or the national or local legislation cares to define it looked cool and needed sharing. The maker is, of course,  Noveske Rifleworks, and as you can see, it’s a 9mm that takes Colt-style magazines, with either 10, 20 or 32 rounds. Then there’s the paintwork, which seems to be a one-off special.

Photo Of The Day:  Defensie Caribisch Gebied, also known as the Caribbean Netherlands Command, refers to the military command responsible for the defense and security of the Caribbean territories of the Netherlands. They are a part of the Royal Netherlands Navy and operate in the Caribbean territories of the Netherlands, which include the islands of Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba, often referred to as the Caribbean Netherlands or the BES islands.

We’ve been running our Photo Of The Day for almost 10 years, and the archives keep growing every day. We offer images of firearms and soldiers in all kinds of environments, airborne, on the ground or underwater. Today it’s time to get wet in the Combat Water Survival. Taste the word, and give it some thought. The firearms are most likely blue guns, but they make a great contrast to the blue-white background and the bubbles.

It’s time to relocate to Germany to take a look at the M249 Light Machine Gun in action. Yes, this is what TFB’s Photo Of The Day is all about! Above you see a U.S. Soldier, assigned to the 173rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team-Airborne (173rd IBCT ABN), as he lets the M249 go. This firearm is also known as the M249 SAW (Squad Automatic Weapon), and it fires the 5.56x45mm NATO ammunition. It operates using a gas piston system. The images are from Exercise Saber Junction 22 at Hohenfels Training Area, Joint Multinational Readiness Center in Hohenfels, Germany, 2022.

Who doesn’t want a giant Trijicon ACOG sight on their AR? I recently had the opportunity to peek through a Trijicon ACOG 6×48 scope with its bullet drop compensator reticle, and it’s really super bright. The eyebox is super-forgiving. The L129A1 is a semi-automatic designated marksman rifle used by the British Armed Forces, and the Royal Marines Reserves as seen here. The rifle is manufactured by Lewis Machine & Tool Company (LMT), and it is based on the LMT MWS (Modular Weapon System) platform.

Once again it’s Photo Of The Day o’clock, and we relocate to the exercise Flintlock 400-meter shooting range near Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. Above you see an Ivorian soldier as he transitions into the kneeling shooting position during a training session. Note the strange position of the Meprolight sight. Ivorian soldiers are known to use the CTAR model of the IWI Tavor, with a shorter 15″ barrel. They also use the Micro Tavor X-95 with a Meprolight M21 sight.

Photo Of The Day with Special Forces of the Republic of Korea Army in a combined training demonstration. Can you identify the firearms above? Possibly it could be a modernized Daewoo Precision Industries K1A1 or a short K2? Can you see what kind of optics they are using? They have some kind of blank fire device mounted on the muzzle. Schmeisser GmbH is a German firearms manufacturer based in Krefeld, Germany, known for producing a range of firearms and related accessories. The company is named after Hugo Schmeisser, an influential German weapons designer who is famous for his work in firearm development during the 20th century. They are one of four licensed NATO and Bundeswehr small arms suppliers.

TFB’s Photo Of The Day is on a mission to collect high-quality photos from the world of firearms. Here we have Force Reconnaissance Marines, commonly known as Force Recon Marines or simply Force Recon. They are an elite special operations unit within the United States Marine Corps. They specialize in conducting reconnaissance, surveillance, and other specialized military operations behind enemy lines or in hostile environments. Their primary mission is to gather intelligence, assess enemy capabilities, and provide critical information to support larger Marine Corps operations.

Did you ever put All The Money In One Picture? Well here’s a try. The rifle is a Tikka T3x TAC A1 in 6.5 Creedmoor, in a Spuhr SICS chassis painted in a custom Snigel Grey Cerakote. The barrel is suppressed by Ase Utra with a QD mount. Balancing on top we have a Safran Vectronix PLRF25 Laser Range Finder, Pulsar Merger Thermal Binoculars and another Vectronix Terrapin X. The wind meter is from Kestrel.

Welcome to another Photo Of The Day! The M4 carbine on full-auto, as Coronel Fidel Castro of the Fuerza Aérea del Perú receives a weapons demonstration from U.S. special forces teams. The location is Lima, Perú (2023), and the event was during Resolute Sentinel 23.

Our  Photo Of The Day article series brings together some of the most eye-catching and visually appealing images. You won’t find a lot of pictures of sunsets, flowers, or tourist landmarks here, instead, the photo selection spans from soldiering, firearms, special units, snipers, and the odd knife or two. Today we have Polish Armed Forces running security during a wet-gap crossing exercise in the Danube River, located near Bordusani, Romania, as a part of Saber Guardian 23, June 6, 2023.

Multinational Sniper Competition – it’s pretty difficult to identify all of the sniper rifles in this Photo Of The Day. I think the rifle above is some kind of DMR version of the Heckler & Koch G36. Some may laugh, but I don’t think its lethality should be underestimated. The images are from NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battle Group Latvia, as they hosted an event named Exercise APEX PREDATOR, for sniper units operating across the Baltic regions and Poland. Teams representing Canada, Latvia, Italy, Spain, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom were taking part in the event which tested their ability to engage targets, identify targets, and execute sniper missions.

“We have two lives, and the second begins when we realize we only have one.” (Confucius) Or in this Photo Of The Day, life actually starts once you did your first polar plunge AND shot the Heckler & Koch G3 battle rifle.

TFB’s Photo Of The Day takes you to Thailand today. We’re looking at Royal Thai Army Soldiers with IWI Tavors from Israel. They’re setting up a defense perimeter after conducting a Strategic Airborne Operation together with U.S. Army paratroopers with the 82nd Airborne Division. This was during Exercise Cobra Gold 2023, near the Thanarat Drop Zone, Kingdom of Thailand, on March 2, 2023.

In TFB’s Photo Of The Day, the camera has more to say than the written word to tell the story. We’re looking at US, Djibouti, and Japan navy personnel as they partner in trilateral engagement to combat illegal shipping.
