Photo Of The Day: I had my revelation about ten years ago, when will you have yours? That’s when I started learning about night vision and thermals, and it’s an ongoing journey. Back then everything I wanted was way too expensive – or couldn’t be sold to mortals – and the thermals I could (barely) afford were too bad to use. You’re watching and reading TFB’s Photo Of The Day, and we have a belt-fed monster on display. It’s made by Ohio Ordnance Works and REAPR stands for Recoil Enhanced Automatic Precision Rifle. They call it a revolution for modern military general purpose machine guns (GPMG), designed to surpass SOCOM military specifications. The caliber is .338 Norma Magnum, but it can be swapped to 7.62 NATO if needed.

Photo Of The Day and we take a look at the new SIG Sauer SG 750 in 6.5 Creedmoor. According to SIG Sauer, in October 2017, the U.S. Special Operations Command determined that the 6.5 Creedmoor cartridge has the best probability of hitting at distances of 1,000 m (1,094 yd). The recoil was also less than the traditional 7.62x51mm NATO cartridges. I don’t have any scientific data to prove that, but I can vouch that’s all true and beyond. If you’ve tried both, you’d know.

Did you ever check out TFB’s Photo Of The Day archives? After almost 10 years in service, the collection is absolutely massive. Romania is not a place we visit too often in these articles, but today we have the East-Coast-based U.S. Naval Special Warfare Operators (SEALs) on a visit. They’re conducting live-fire weapons training with the 164th Romanian Special Operations Forces near Constanta, Romania, and the images are from November 2023.

Established in 1665, the Korps Mariniers is one of the oldest marine corps in the world. They have a rich history and have been involved in numerous military operations and conflicts.

Photo Of The Day – Any kind of sniping can be ever so challenging, but adding movement and wind from all sorts of directions must surely be as hard as it ever gets. Here we see an Accuracy International AXMC sniper rifle with a Schmidt & Bender 5-45×56 High Power riflescope. I don’t know much about the rifle, but I have the riflescope and it’s pretty sweet. Not sure how my stomach would cope with the waves, I’d probably have to sacrifice to Poseidon a few times.

A new day and another go at TFB’s Photo Of The Day where we take a look at the Dallas Texas Police Department SWAT team’s LWRC IC-A5 carbine made by LWRC International LLC. IC stands for Individual Carbine.

Our Photo Of The Day is strong today. Like 12 gauge strong, and with a great image. Never has a firearm looked so similar to the Heckler & Koch G11 as this suppressed Tavor TS12 shotgun, or did I get that wrong? The market for shotgun suppressors isn’t huge, in fact, it’s quite limited. The one pictured is the SilencerCo Salvo 12, which can be customized to keep a balance between sound, weight, and length by adding or removing sections. The build material is aluminum and stainless steel.

TFB has been running our very special Photo Of The Day for years, sharing great photos from around the world and the world of firearms. Sometimes the selected pictures involve a lot of action and shooting, sometimes there’s another reason behind the choice. Like today. There are many images of the Bersa Thunder 380, but I consider these among the best.

They’re based on the Amphibious Assault Ship USS Boxer. A word of warning from my side, never ever use barrel support, or you will get a large shift in impact. That’s why we have free-floating barrels, with handguards.

A man may climb Everest for himself, but at the summit, he plants his country’s flag. In this Photo Of The Day, we have an operator from the Swedish National Task Force in the exercise Black Esox. Typically this unit uses the LWRC M6IC in Patriot Brown finish, with a 12.7″ barrel, Surefire suppressor, Magpul CTR stock, and Ergo 2 grip. Sometimes they use the LAW Tactical AR Folding Stock Adapter.

Photo Of The Day and for the first time we feature SIG Sauer’s MCX-SPEAR-LT. In a collaboration with Cerakote-specialists Blowndeadline, the offering now includes a hand-made Multicam pattern.

Photo Of The Day and we go for another of U.K. Ministry Of Defense’s Best of Defence Imagery 2023. We’re looking at a spotter and a sniper from The Royal Gurkha Rifles, during the “golden hour” of photography. There’s a reason why this image was chosen, as lighting plays a crucial role in photography, influencing the mood and visual impact of an image. The golden hour, occurring during sunrise or sunset, provides soft, warm light that enhances colors and textures. The shadows also provides cover for this pair of soldiers…

Photo Of The Day – the best place to view the coolest images of firearms. Today the time has come to admire the MRGG-S, Geissele Automatics‘ Mid Range Gas Gun – Sniper.

There are many reasons why a certain image can be featured in TFB’s Photo Of The Day. First of all, cool builds involving AKs are not nearly as common as AR15s, and secondly,  Bravo42 Photography really knows how to get the attention going. Riflescopes on AKs are not very common either, and here we have the Vortex Delta Stryker HD 1-6x on top of things with a Trijicon RMR as a backup.

Photo Of The Day and we’re visiting the U.S. Marines once again, with an antitank missile gunner with Battalion Landing Team 1/1, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, posting security while conducting military operations on urbanized terrain training at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, 2024.

Photo Of The Day and we start out strong with the Knight’s Armament KS-1, United Kingdom’s newly selected Alternative Individual Weapons system, or the L403A1. This image is part of the U.K. Ministry Of Defense’s Best of Defence Imagery 2023, and we understand why it was selected.

This Photo Of The Day might look like a commercial for the featured product, but that’s not the original intention. It’s just a great photo (which is very difficult to capture correctly) of what this kind of optical setup looks like for the operator. We have a Vortex riflescope (not sure exactly which one, but likely a Razor HD Gen III 1-10×24 FFP) on magnification, and an Aimpoint Micro in a Scalarworks Kick/04 offset mount.

A new dawn, new possibilities and another Photo Of The Day with a highly interesting take on the AR15. Here is the caption from Spuhr in Sweden about their prototype AR15 upper with Spuhr handguard:

Let it rattle and roll! The Photo Of The Day can be chosen for a variety of reasons, but aerial door gunner pictures are always chosen! These two images are from CF Combat Camera / Caméra de combat of the Canadian Armed Forces. According to FN, the FN M3M (GAU-21) is a .50 caliber (12.7x99mm) single barrel rapid-fire machine gun suitable for rotary-wing aircraft applications, providing firepower ranging out to nearly 2000 meters. The FN M3M was designated by the U.S. Navy as the GAU-21 in 2004.

I love these images! Boats, dogs, guns and motivated soldiers in search of enemies. Even the sun is out in this Photo Of The Day! The closest translation of the unit’s name into English would be “Swedish Naval Counter-SOF Unit”. They use the K9 dog to detect and locate hostile units on various islands in the Blekinge archipelago, in the southern coast of Sweden.

TFB’s Photo Of The Day is on a mission to collect high-quality photos from the world of firearms, and today we have U.S. Marines with Marine Forces Command (MARFORCOM) as they move through obscuration. They’re conducting Military Operations in Urbanized Terrain (MOUT) training during exercise Intrepid Maven 23.3 in the United Arab Emirates, on May 19, 2023.

For a very long time, we’ve been looking for images with submarines and firearms for our Photo Of The Day. It seems to be impossible, so we have to settle for a distant view of the Royal Marine Surveillance and Reconnaissance Squadron (SRS), which is an element of 30 Commando Information Exploitation Group. The Royal Marines are the UK’s arctic warfare specialists. Their motto is “Attain by Surprise”, so submarines and inflatable raiding crafts are quite useful means of transportation.

Photo Of The Day and we are off to Africa, where a member of the Ghana Armed Forces pulls security while exiling the objective during Flintlock in Volta, Ghana, March 10, 2023. Last year’s exercise built on the success of previous iterations of Flintlock and focused on the transition from tactical execution to operational planning and multi-domain integration.
