Since its inception, GSG 9 has participated in over 1,500 missions, yet reportedly fired shots only on five occasions (official count, prior to the 2003 Iraq War). These occasions were Mogadishu in 1977, Bad Kleinen in 1993, Aachen in 1999 and two more missions where firearms were used to shoot dogs of the persons being arrested.”

We’re looking at Kel-Tec’s KS7 bullpup shotgun, priced just at $530. The KS7 has an 18.5″ magazine tube which holds up to 7+1 rounds, depending on your choice of shell size. Photo Of The Day – The DMR rifles are increasing in popularity. The term stands for Designated Marksman Rifle and generally speaking, it’s a modern precision rifle in semi-automatic configuration, with a fancy riflescope on top. It fills the need between an ordinary rifle and a dedicated sniper rifle, to accurately hit targets in the region between 300-600 meters, and sometimes longer. Steyr Arms GmbH (Germany) has a new DMR 762. I understand that the upper is monoblock, making it more accurate.

POTD: The CMR30 – Rimfire Magnum

The KelTec CMR30 Rimfire Rifle, that’s the subject of our Photo Of The Day today. I’ve never seen one, but it looks like a fun firearm to shoot, with 30 rounds of .22 Magnum from a single magazine. And you get two magazines in the box. The weight of the CMR30 is only 3.8 lbs (1.7kg), even with the 16” barrel. It looks somewhat similar to an H&K MP7 as well, which could be intentional?

For today’s Photo Of The Day, we have pictures of a magnificent special project by Pietro Beretta Selection – the  Beretta 486 Copernicus. This 12 gauge side-by-side shotgun is a tribute to the Renaissance astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus who formulated a heliocentric model of the universe. According to Beretta, this shotgun is the result of 800 hours of work by master craftsmen in Gardone Val Trompia, added to months of study by the Research & Development, Design and Marketing departments.

The pictures are from  Tactical Imports Corporation‘s website which has just started importing these rifles to Canada. Designed by SIG Sauer AG (formerly SIG Arms AG and SAN Swiss Arms AG) and produced by FAMAE (Fábricas y Maestranzas del Ejército de Chile), the SG 543-1M is chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO and is gas operated with a long-stroke piston, rotating bolt lockup and adjustable gas block.  The price of the FAMAE SG 543-1M rifle in Canada starts at 3,599 CAD.

The caliber is .308 Win and the barrel length is only 16″. Pugio seems to mean a dagger, especially the kind used by the Ancient Romans, which makes sense with regard to the compact size.

For today’s Photo Of The Day, we have pictures of another Cabot Guns masterpiece, the Veritas & Aequitas 1911 pistol. This one-of-one custom-commissioned pistol was two years in the making. The words Veritas (truth) and Aequitas (justice) are engraved on the sides of the slide which along with the frame is made of stainless Damascus steel. Like in many other deluxe Cabot 1911s, material from a meteorite is used in this pistol – the grips are completely made of meteorite!
