Photo Of The Day – The DMR rifles are increasing in popularity. The term stands for Designated Marksman Rifle and generally speaking, it’s a modern precision rifle in semi-automatic configuration, with a fancy riflescope on top. It fills the need between an ordinary rifle and a dedicated sniper rifle, to accurately hit targets in the region between 300-600 meters, and sometimes longer. Steyr Arms GmbH (Germany) has a new DMR 762. I understand that the upper is monoblock, making it more accurate.

It’s probably the first time we have The Royal Gurkha Rifles featured in Photo Of The Day. Above you can see one, as he fires his L129A1 sharpshooter rifle at a target to zero his rifle during the Live Firing Tactical Training phase of Exercise Vigilant Isles on the 18th of November 2023.

The KelTec CMR30 Rimfire Rifle, that’s the subject of our Photo Of The Day today. I’ve never seen one, but it looks like a fun firearm to shoot, with 30 rounds of .22 Magnum from a single magazine. And you get two magazines in the box. The weight of the CMR30 is only 3.8 lbs (1.7kg), even with the 16” barrel. It looks somewhat similar to an H&K MP7 as well, which could be intentional?

The hungriest beast of all article series on TFB is our Photo Of The Day. It consumes hundreds of images every month, and it has been doing so for over 9 years. Sometimes these images find themselves, and sometimes we have to dig them out, but we hope they give you a diverse experience from the world of firearms. Today we have the U.S. Marine Corps during the Stand-in Force Exercise 24 at Combined Arms Training Center Camp Fuji, Japan, 2023.

Welcome to another edition of TFB’s Photo Of The Day. We don’t get contributions from readers too often, but it happens. Today is such an occasion, and it’s a pretty interesting one. Mike Owen of Meridian Ordnance LLC sent us pictures of various Russian AKs taken in the Horn of Africa.

There’s a huge collection of firearms in TFB’s Photo Of The Day, and this non-restricted (in Canada) rifle caught my attention. The rifle is available in a variety of calibers. The one in the image above is a 9.5″ .223 Rem. The ones below are the BCL TRX Bronco Hunter in 6.5 Creedmoor, 18″ barrel.

For today’s Photo Of The Day, we have pictures of a magnificent special project by Pietro Beretta Selection – the  Beretta 486 Copernicus. This 12 gauge side-by-side shotgun is a tribute to the Renaissance astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus who formulated a heliocentric model of the universe. According to Beretta, this shotgun is the result of 800 hours of work by master craftsmen in Gardone Val Trompia, added to months of study by the Research & Development, Design and Marketing departments.

The handgun is what you use to fight your way to your rifle, isn’t that a saying we can all agree with? For today’s Photo Of The Day, we have pictures of the Chilean FAMAE SG 543-1M rifle. The pictures are from  Tactical Imports Corporation‘s website which has just started importing these rifles to Canada. Designed by SIG Sauer AG (formerly SIG Arms AG and SAN Swiss Arms AG) and produced by FAMAE (Fábricas y Maestranzas del Ejército de Chile), the SG 543-1M is chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO and is gas operated with a long-stroke piston, rotating bolt lockup and adjustable gas block.  The price of the FAMAE SG 543-1M rifle in Canada starts at 3,599 CAD.

Today we have pictures from Keris MAREX, a bilateral exercise led by the U.S. Marine Corps and the KORMAR (Indonesian Marine Corps). The exercise includes a variety of training evolutions such as patrolling, close-quarters battle and ambushing, unmanned aircraft systems employment, sensor to strike, tactical combat casualty care, and explosive ordnance disposal. And, as you can see, disguising to look like the jungle.

You’re watching and reading TFB’s Photo Of The Day. It’s very unusual to see such a short sniper rifle as this Victrix Armaments Pugio V. The caliber is .308 Win and the barrel length is only 16″. Pugio seems to mean a dagger, especially the kind used by the Ancient Romans, which makes sense with regard to the compact size.

For today’s Photo Of The Day, we have pictures of another Cabot Guns masterpiece, the Veritas & Aequitas 1911 pistol. This one-of-one custom-commissioned pistol was two years in the making. The words Veritas (truth) and Aequitas (justice) are engraved on the sides of the slide which along with the frame is made of stainless Damascus steel. Like in many other deluxe Cabot 1911s, material from a meteorite is used in this pistol – the grips are completely made of meteorite!
