POTD: German GSG-9 Operator With Heckler & Koch MP7
According to Wikipedia, very little is known, but: “the majority of this unit’s missions are confidential and public information is not available. Since its inception, GSG 9 has participated in over 1,500 missions, yet reportedly fired shots only on five occasions (official count, prior to the 2003 Iraq War). These occasions were Mogadishu in 1977, Bad Kleinen in 1993, Aachen in 1999 and two more missions where firearms were used to shoot dogs of the persons being arrested.”

POTD: Norwegian Army Goes Subway
The number of internet users worldwide has passed the 5-billion mark, reaching almost 60% of the global population. Our world has never been so connected. Great photos can spread like wildfire, but the story and the necessary context sometimes get left behind. But not here, in our Photo Of The Day, we will always accompany the images with a background and credits to the maker. Today we’re visiting the subway of Oslo (Tunnelbane). The network comprises five lines, all passing through the city center, covering a combined distance of 85 kilometers.

POTD: Finnish Utti Jaeger Regiment
Finnish Special Forces going flat out over the snow on a Lynx snowmobile. Can it get more Photo Of The Day than that? I honestly don’t think so. The driver is from the Finnish Utti Jaeger Regiment, and the year of 2024 is going to kick off with a series of other Special Forces units from the Nordic region.
POTD: Freezing Winds in Finland
Photo Of The Day and today we belong in the freezing winds and snow in Finland. The U.S. Marine Corps provides security for a convoy during offensive and defensive operations in Syndalen, Finland during exercise Freezing Winds 23 in November 2023. Don’t you think these battle rifles look fantastic?
POTD: The KelTec KS7 – Compact Shotgun
This Photo Of The Day is like taken out of a Hollywood movie, don’t you think? We’re looking at Kel-Tec’s KS7 bullpup shotgun, priced just at $530. The KS7 has an 18.5″ magazine tube which holds up to 7+1 rounds, depending on your choice of shell size. The barrel has the same length, so there should be plenty of speed and gas regardless if you use it for target shooting or home defense.
POTD: The New Steyr DMR 762
Photo Of The Day – The DMR rifles are increasing in popularity. The term stands for Designated Marksman Rifle and generally speaking, it’s a modern precision rifle in semi-automatic configuration, with a fancy riflescope on top. It fills the need between an ordinary rifle and a dedicated sniper rifle, to accurately hit targets in the region between 300-600 meters, and sometimes longer. Steyr Arms GmbH (Germany) has a new DMR 762. I understand that the upper is monoblock, making it more accurate.

POTD: The CMR30 – Rimfire Magnum
The KelTec CMR30 Rimfire Rifle, that’s the subject of our Photo Of The Day today. I’ve never seen one, but it looks like a fun firearm to shoot, with 30 rounds of .22 Magnum from a single magazine. And you get two magazines in the box. The weight of the CMR30 is only 3.8 lbs (1.7kg), even with the 16” barrel. It looks somewhat similar to an H&K MP7 as well, which could be intentional?
POTD: Force Exercise 24 at Combined Arms Training Center Camp Fuji, Japan
The hungriest beast of all article series on TFB is our Photo Of The Day. It consumes hundreds of images every month, and it has been doing so for over 9 years. Today we have the U.S. Marine Corps during the Stand-in Force Exercise 24 at Combined Arms Training Center Camp Fuji, Japan, 2023.

And, as you can see, disguising to look like the jungle.
POTD: Victrix Armaments Pugio V
You’re watching and reading TFB’s Photo Of The Day. It’s very unusual to see such a short sniper rifle as this Victrix Armaments Pugio V. The caliber is .308 Win and the barrel length is only 16″. Pugio seems to mean a dagger, especially the kind used by the Ancient Romans, which makes sense with regard to the compact size.
POTD: Cabot Veritas & Aequitas Pistol
For today’s Photo Of The Day, we have pictures of another Cabot Guns masterpiece, the Veritas & Aequitas 1911 pistol. This one-of-one custom-commissioned pistol was two years in the making. Like in many other deluxe Cabot 1911s, material from a meteorite is used in this pistol – the grips are completely made of meteorite!

The Marines rehearsed for a live-fire stagnant squad-level attack, with heavy equipment employment and executed live-fire drills afterwards.
