Welcome to another edition of TFB’s   Photo Of The Day! A friend posted this image and it’s too good not to be shared. We have a Ruger M77 416 Rigby, and it’s a thing of beauty. The rifle is probably from around the early 1990s and has the great, almighty rifle scope Z6i from Swarovski.

Here’s his comment:

“Some ammo purchases feel as much in the shoulder as in the wallet.

400 grains is 25.9 grams, for those who prefer metric. Here’s what Norma Ammunition has to say about it:

“The .416 Rigby was the first cartridge to utilize bullets in the .416 caliber and is a classic dangerous game cartridge. Its development coincided with a plethora of exciting developments in the rifle and ammunition industry in the early 20th century, such as smokeless gunpowder and modern rifle actions like the famous Mauser 98.”

Norma also has a Woodleigh Soft Nose .416 Rigby 29.2g, for when you need a concussion and your African pray to drop down on the spot.

Do you hunt, or go target shooting for that matter, with anything similar? Everyone’s curious, so please let us know more in the comments.

My shoulder hurts just from reading about that ammo.

I have no interest in the cartridge. However if not for the 416 I wouldn't have the 338 Lapua Magum. One of my personal favorites to shoot.
