Welcome to our Image of the Day feature! Except we call it Photo Of The Day here at TFB. Each day, we showcase at least one stunning image that captures the beauty of the world of firearms. Sometimes just one image suffice, and today is such an example. We have the KRG, or Kinetic Research Group, Sotic 6.5 Creedmoor with a 22″ barrel.

Our Photo Of The Day is more than a bunch of photos thrown together. Ever been gassed out like in the image above? Here we see a sniper as he patrols through a gas-filled trench during the U.S. Army Europe and Africa Best Sniper Team Competition. The location was the Joint Multinational Readiness Center, near Hohenfels, Germany, on Oct. 1, 2023. I presume it’s the sunlight that gives this special effect, almost as if it was done for a video game.

Apart from their firearms, Uronen Precision from Finland has a lot of interesting products, like their Modular Trigger Group for AR-15, 7.62 TKO caliber and Lugo Arms Alien pistol compensator.

Welcome to TFB’s Photo Of The Day! Today’s selection features the art of sniping. We get to follow the 10th Mountain Division Soldiers from the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 2-22 Infantry Battalion, as they compete in the Häyha Sniper Competition, Finland, August 26, 2023. The Häyha Sniper Competition had no less than 24 shooting events and tasks to challenge the skills of snipers in team-based obstacles.

We have the French company MIM&Tech and German GunWorks to thank for today’s Photo Of The Day. We all share the love for the Heckler & Koch MP5 SD I assume, and here it got a coat of MIM&TECH Anti-IR Temporary spray paint (TCC). Now it’s “silent” for the eyes as well, so cannot (almost) be heard or seen. I haven’t tried these products myself, but they do look quite interesting.

Welcome to our Photo Of The Day! Each day, we feature a stunning photograph that captures the beauty and diversity of our world. These snipers went a long way to conceal themselves. How would you rate their ambition and success? I think these soldiers might be difficult to spot with a thermal as well, and I’m not sure I’d like to give it a try. What we see are U.S. Army snipers with the 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment “Red Currahee,” 1st Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), supporting 3rd Infantry Division, as they conducted sniper field training at Camp Adazi, Latvia, during September.

Welcome to our Photo Of The Day! Every day, we feature a photograph or two. I took these images for an upcoming review of the brand new Schmidt & Bender 6-36×56 PM II (yes, it’s finally here!), so consider them a teaser of some sort. I also took the opportunity to fit the InfiRay Outdoor Mate MAH50 front attachment, which adds thermal capability to (almost) any riflescope with an adapter. The mount is from Spuhr.

Welcome to another Photo Of The Day! Today’s selection features Spc. Carlos Flores with the 1-87th Infantry Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (LI) as he kneels behind a berm and fires his M4 rifle Rhodope 23 mountain warfare training exercise. What a magnificent muzzle flash, even if the firearm is using blanks.

Today’s Photo of the Day comes courtesy of my inability to keep my wallet closed. The Karabiner 43, or K.43, is a Second World War era semi-automatic rifle chambered in 8mm Mauser. Sometimes referred to as “Hitler’s Garand” (most notably by the book of that title) this rifle was created to replace the more finicky Gewehr 41. The Gewehr 43 (G.43) uses a gas system very similar to that of an SVT-40, a three-part short-stroke gas piston. In fact, a side-by-side comparison of the SVT-40’s gas system and the Gewehr 43’s gas system shows some parts that look almost interchangeable. Though of course, they are not.

There’s something about those short shotguns, don’t you agree? In this  Photo Of The Day, we’re here to admire the Mossberg Shockwave pump shotgun, with some American walnut from Woox. I’ve had my eyes on Woox for a while, and it’s almost like I want to purchase a suitable firearm just to fit those nice, wooden parts on it.

Photo Of The Day – Today we are off to a pretty sandy and warm place, the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Mohamed Naguib Military Base. These images are from the exercise Bright Star 23, and all we’re missing are some Pyramids in the background. There are some pretty interesting sniper rifles in this POTD.

DMRs, or Designated Marksman Rifles, are so hot at the moment. As you can see, our Photo Of The Day reflects this, with some marketing images from Beretta Defense Technologies, as posted on their LinkedIn. The Beretta ARX200 DMR was shown at the World Defense Show in 2022.

HERA Arms from Germany have an interesting product in their “7SIX2“, which of course comes from the caliber 7.62 mm. It’s basically a semi-automatic AR clone with a 16.75″ barrel, a KeyMod handguard, an HRS buttstock and a sports compensator. The price is around 2,959.00 EUR, roughly the same in US dollars.  

The hungriest beast of them all on TFB is our Photo Of The Day. It consumes hundreds of images every month, and it has been starving for over 9 years. Sometimes these images find themselves, and sometimes we have to dig them out, but we hope they give you a diverse experience from the world of firearms. Here’s the Barrett MRAD adopted as the MK 22 Advanced Sniper Rifle by the U.S. military, as now used by some of the National Guard.

A new dawn, new possibilities and another Photo Of The Day to enjoy. In case you didn’t know, the “falling-block action” is a type of firearm action mechanism used in rifles and shotguns. It is known for its simplicity, strength, and reliability. This action is primarily associated with single-shot firearms. Here we can see it in Rigby Falling Block limited edition rifle. It’s chambered in a relatively new caliber, .416 Rigby No. 2.

When competing in IPSC or USPSA PCC competitions most competitors go for what (they imagine) is the most competitive firearm. However, there are a few people who compete just for fun, and their choice of weapon goes in the same style. So in this Photo Of The Day, we’re going to honor one of those people and take a closer look at the GSG Schmeisser MP40 9×19 mm, made by German Sports Guns.

Manufactured by O.F. Mossberg & Sons, the Mossberg 590 is a popular pump-action shotgun. It’s used by the military as well as in law enforcement applications, but it’s also popular for home defense and sporting purposes. I’m sure that more than a few of TFB’s readers have one close to their bed at night. In this Photo Of The Day, we’re taking a look at a custom version by  Vang Comp Systems LLC – the Sniper Grey Mossberg 590.

Top of the morning and welcome to our Photo Of The Day! Today it’s time for the FN 2000S 5.56×45mm NATO bullpup rifle. This is Slovenia’s specialized bullpup, and they are fairly alone on the planet to use this rifle, which makes it interesting for photos. As you can see, they have a top Picatinny rail for mounting a variety of optics.

Welcome to TFB’s Photo Of The Day! We only have one image today, but it’s plenty enough. Ever heard of the Special Operations Forces Combat Assault Rifle or the FN SCAR? Here you can see the PDW4 stock on a SCAR 17. It’s made by Otto Arms, an engineering solutions company specializing in the firearm industry, particularly the FN SCAR platform.

Today’s Photo Of The Day is a picture shared by North American Arms (NAA) on their social media pages. It depicts the following models of the company’s rimfire mini revolvers (top to bottom):  The Hogleg,  The Sheriff,  Sidewinder and  22 Long Rifle. The chambering of the latter is of course .22LR and the rest of these wheelguns are chambered in .22 Magnum. All four revolvers have five-round cylinders. The barrel lengths are 6″, 2.5″, 1.5″ and 1.13″.

Who doesn’t feel a little love for a Tactical Crossbow? In this Photo Of The Day, we’ll take a closer look at the AR-6, a Magazine-Fed Compact Tactical Crossbow. It’s actually much more compact than I first thought, and I’d love to try one out. The price starts at $469.00.

Oh, baby! We do short-barreled shotguns all too seldom here, but that doesn’t mean we don’t like them. Here’s a magnificent picture taken by Holt Works, and the Vang Comp 870 SBS.

For the love of Arctic warfare! In this Photo Of The Day, we’ll take a quick look at the new L403A1, as used by Britain’s elite Royal Marine Commando Forces. The model is a Knight’s Armament Company KS-1 rifle.

Photo Of The Day: TFB’s James Reeves recently wrote an article about the  CZ Shadow 2 Compact, and I have to say that the Czech really know how to tease me and most likely the majority of the gun community to make another purchase. The new pistol is certainly worth a POTD, and I can’t wait to try it out at the earliest possible opportunity.
