Eventually, the 3rd Special Forces Group ended up in the first place in the 2024 USASOC International Best Sniper Competition. The French Team finished in second and the 10th Special Forces Group was in 3rd place.

Pictures, pictures, pictures. But only pictures of firearms of some kind. That’s how TFB’s Photo Of The Day works. We are off to the Republic of Korea, where U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Julien Kynard with Battalion Landing Team 2/4, 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, shoots his M4 service rifle during a rifle range, on March 31, 2023.

The title of this Photo Of The Day kind of sums up what it’s all about. While your eyes are on the Heckler & Koch HK M110A1, you’re missing a lot of interesting details. Note that H&K calls it a “variant“, and although it’s difficult to see all details in an image like this, it seems several things have been changed. The handguard looks different, for starters. The suppressor seems to be a B&T (for the G28), and not the OSS SRM6. The backup sights are different and the stock might be too. The riflescope looks like the excellent Schmidt & Bender 5-20×50 PM II Ultra Short. This is most likely a Made In Germany project, and you take what you have.

Photo Of The Day and we go for another of the U.K. Ministry Of Defense’s Best of Defence Imagery 2023. It’s difficult to see, but I presume this British sniper is working behind the L115A3 sniper rifle. Do you see the thermal front attachment he’s using? Makes sense considering the time of the day.

Photo Of The Day and we have more belt-fed madness from Ohio Ordnance Works. This is one of their entries into the General Purpose Machine Gun game.  The model is a lightweight OOW240P model, where “P” stands for Patrol. I think it’s a great photo!

Photo Of The Day and today we’re taking a look at the brand new Spuhr RDF-20225K Aimpoint T-2 Magnifier Mount in action. A little over a year ago, I reviewed the Aimpoint Duty RDS with 3X-C Magnifier – 39mm FlipMount & TwistMount base. The Spuhr mount is a little different, and offers a one-piece solution to mount a laser (or what other devices you may think of) and a magnifier around an Aimpoint Micro H2 or T2.

Andres Industries is a medium-sized German company based in Berlin with a lot of interesting products for thermal imaging. Many NATO member states are now modernizing their night combat capabilities, and that goes for the Czech Armed Forces as well. Above you can see one of their upgraded FN-Minimis.

Photo Of The Day and let’s take a look at the Glock 43X and the Sig ROMEO Zero Elite in a marriage through Reptilia Corp‘s G-Plate. My history with my Glock 43 didn’t last too long. For sure it’s very compact, but I live in a country where carrying a firearm is not permitted unless it’s a very specific case (read: impossible). Also, the amount of handguns I’m allowed to own is limited, so I found something with a more competitive edge to replace it. I still miss it though, and I would have loved to try it with a red dot. So when I found these images, I thought they had to be shared.

Photo Of The Day – To the horizon and beyond. Here we see a Portuguese Marine with one of their upgraded Heckler & Koch G3s. The Spuhr upgrades solve the most important issues with the G3, namely the Length of Pull (LOP). Furthermore, this firearm has the Spuhr buttstock, forend and top rail.

If you wonder why all the white patches are missing, This Photo Of The Day has the explanation. One of the U.S. Army Rangers painted his rifle with them. Note the flared magwell. The Ranger is from the 75th Ranger Regiment, and the image is from the Joint Pacific Multinational Readiness Center at Donnelly Training Area, Alaska.

If you visit Glock’s global website (eu.glock.com), you can find there versions of their pistols that can not be found on the company’s US website (us.glock.com). One example is the  Glock G17 Gen5 FR Coyote, the civilian version of the French contract G17 pistol. Another example is what we have for today’s Photo Of The Day – two special edition Glock 44 pistols called G44 Silver Line and G44 Golden Line. What sets these two rimfire pistols apart from standard Glock 44s are the silver and gold colors of the exposed metal parts of their slides.

When I was younger (a lot younger), every boy knew the ArmaLite AR-7 was the good-to-go thing to have if you survived a crash landing, and had to protect yourself against dangerous predators and get food. I guess we never thought about the issues about firearm permits and getting them on board the plane, yes it was a time of few worries. Fast forward to today, and we have the SAI GR-22 & GR-9 rifles made by SAI in Denmark. I think the calibers are kind of self-explanatory – .22LR and 9×19 mm. The suppressor system is integrated with a suppressor casing made of carbon tube (.22LR) or aluminum (9 mm).

The hungriest beast of them all on this blog is our Photo Of The Day. It consumes hundreds of images every month, and it has been doing so for 10 years.
