Today we get a closer look at U.S. Marines with the 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, and service members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines as they conduct the final exercise for Archipelagic Coastal Defense Continuum in Barira, Philippines, May 2024. The final exercise consisted of a bilateral company-level element conducting close-quarter combat and patrol-based operations.

Photo Of The Day and we have some images from the Lithuanian Armed Forces during the International Special Operations Forces Exercise Flaming Sword 2024. This event included training with laser-guided bombs dropped from B52s as well as submarine-supported diver tasks.

Photo Of The Day and we hope you’re having a fantastic day! The Korps Mariniers, or Royal Netherlands Marine Corps, is the amphibious infantry component of the Royal Netherlands Navy. Established in 1665, the Korps Mariniers is one of the oldest marine corps in the world. They use both the Colt Canada C7 and the Colt Canada C8 as individual weapons and of course the FN MAG general-purpose machine gun.

Automatkarbin 24 in Swedish, or Automatic carbine 24 translated into English, is one of the new firearms that will be used by the Swedish Army. Let’s start calling it Ak24 for short!

Photo Of The Day and we’re taken into action around the exercise called Hanuman Guardian 22: Air Assault Training. I love this drone-styled image of an M240B machine gun crew from the Alpha Company, 29th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division. They’re engaging simulated targets during an air assault, in March 2022, in Fort Thanarat, Thailand. If I was gunning the M240B I’d be hoping for more ammunition and waves of simulated targets. If I was carrying or cleaning it, I’d be hoping I was on R&R…

Another day goes on, and another of TFB’s Photo Of The Day sees the light of day. Today we have the pleasure to see the Dutch Korps Mariniers at work. This is from an ATLAS network exercise called Black Esox.

For today’s Photo Of The Day, we have pictures of a Finnish Jatimatic submachine gun fitted with a Laser Products laser sight. Jatimatic is a very unique and rare firearm designed and produced in the ’80s. It is a blowback 9mm SMG with an angled barrel and bolt travel path to help control the gun, and a folding front grip that doubles as a charging handle and safety. This particular Jatimatic SMG is a pre-86 dealer sample and will be auctioned at Poulin Spring 2024 Premier Firearms & Militaria Auction (June 7-10). The auction house notes that chances are high this very Jatimatic SMG was used by Sylvester Stallone in the “Cobra” movie (1986).

Photo Of The Day – the best place online to view the coolest images of firearms and today we have some Italian hotness on offer. ADC or Armi Dallera Custom is an Italian company founded in 1987, and I’ve met them at a number of exhibitions around Europe. In the year 2000, Armi Dallera Custom started focusing on a new product, the rifle.

Photo Of The Day and we go back to last spring to check on a competitor in the United States Army Special Operations Command International Sniper Competition, as he ejects a spent shell casing from his rifle after firing at a long-distance target at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, 2023.

Photo Of The Day – To the horizon and beyond. Just the other day, I had the pleasure of unboxing a new rifle. The wait has been a long one, and the journey to pick it up as well, and my excitement was hard to hide. However, it must be close to nothing compared to what these soldiers are experiencing as they’re unpacking the Next Generation Squad Weapons (NGSW) system, in all its glory including optics and suppressors. 

TFB’s Photo Of The Day is kind of simplistic. Every day we present our readers with at least one photo. The subject is always a firearm of some kind, preferably with some action around it. But we’re happy with an edited still-life photo as well, and as this photo appeared in my social media flow, I felt an urge to share it. The image is taken by Cory Chilton and used with his kind permission. We’re looking at a .243 Winchester that he built himself using Aero and Magpul components, with a 22″ barrel from Columbia River/BHW.

Photo Of The Day – we’re looking at Norwegian soldiers belonging to the eFP Battlegroup Lithuania, as they’re using their Heckler & Koch 416N. Norway was among the first countries to start using the HK416, already in 2008.

There’s a good vibe to our Photo Of The Day today, with the featured image just above. These images are from when Soldiers and Airmen competed in the annual TAG match, in Florence, AZ on March 2024. You see the M110A1 Squad Designated Marksman Rifle at work, with a close-up just below.

For today’s Photo Of The Day, we have pictures of a very cool project by a company called Cotton Branch Custom Firearms. It’s a Lee-Enfield rifle converted to a De Lisle carbine configuration except instead of .45 ACP it is chambered in 375 Raptor. The latter is a .375-caliber short-action cartridge based on the .308 Winchester case.

The Glock 17 Gen 5 MOS you see above was my last issued pistol, which I had to give up once I resigned after 15 years with my police department. Of my 21-year career in law enforcement, this was the fourth pistol I was issued, not including my personal Glock 22 I carried on duty for years. Of all the Glocks I’ve carried on duty, this Glock 17 Gen 5 MOS has been my favorite!

A new dawn – or is it the sun setting – and another Photo Of The Day where we have the Barrett MK22 MRAD in the hands of U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Tevita Fukofuka, a scout sniper with Battalion Landing Team 1/1, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit. The picture is taken aboard the amphibious docking ship USS Green Bay (LPD 20) during a visit, board, search, and seizure exercise in the Philippine Sea, in February 2024.

TFB’s Photo Of The Day is more than a bunch of photos, it’s also the crazy story that the rifle shown here went to the highest bidder at $47,049. The rifle is a Novekse 14.5″ Afghan in 6mm ARC. I recently fired my first rounds with 6mm ARC, and yes I wouldn’t mind one for shooting DMR or even hunting. The suppressor is a CGS Hunter V1, and the scope is a Leupold Mark 5HD 2-10x.
