Concealed Carry Corner: What You Should Carry Daily

Over the years, I have changed my overall carry gear one way or another countless times, but through the years I have developed preferences. Finding what works best for you over time is no easy feat and although there are shortcuts for certain items like holsters, some of this gear physically takes you carrying it to see if that particular item fits your lifestyle. There’ve been a number of items I have gotten pushback on or people have recommended certain items for daily carry. I’ve picked a few of the most common items that people have talked about in past articles and we will take a closer look at why I choose various items to carry on a daily basis. Let’s take a closer look at what you should carry daily.

Whether it’s gun or gear, I’ve heard a number of interesting perspectives on a wide variety of gun topics. Everything from “10mm is more reliable than 9mm” to “people should carry two guns instead of a spare magazine“. Recently, I went through a workplace violence training seminar that was mandatory. During the video, they talk about evading threats and knowing the difference between cover and concealment. This concept is nothing new but can be rather tricky for people to determine the difference in a stressful situation. In a self-defense situation, knowing the difference between cover and concealment can save your life. Let’s take a closer look at cover vs concealment.

TFB Review: Black Arch Holsters Rev-Con Holster

There are some holsters that become part of your wardrobe. Put your leg through here, staple this to your leg, tie that to your belt. While more intricate holster designs can sometimes give you some advantages, who has the time? Sometimes you just need a simple and reliable holster that you can throw on quickly. In my quest for Hellcat Pro holsters, I’m trying out the Black Arch Holsters Rev-Con.

Atlantic Firearms Brings the Bling with a 24K Gold AK

I’m a meat and potatoes kind of guy, and honestly, I’ve never been one for flashy firearms. My go-to colors are black and tan. But when my inbox had the announcement from Atlantic Firearms about this 24K Gold AK, I couldn’t help but drool a tiny bit. Is it gaudy? Yes. Tacky even? Oh my, absolutely! But something about how well the finish job on this gun came out makes me just want to hold it for a little while and pretend I didn’t just have to decide between beef or chicken ramen this week.

TFB Review: The Peak 44 Blacktooth Carbon Fiber Stock

Back in September, I wrote about the new Backcountry 2.0 rifle from Weatherby at their unveiling event. I was impressed with the overall decrease in felt recoil from a magnum caliber we shot at the event. One of the first bolt actions I bought was a Mark V Ultralite in .300 Weatherby Magnum. It sat in my gun safe for years since it was such a sharp recoiling rifle that hit like a freight train. This fall, I sent my Weatherby Mark V in to be threaded for a muzzle brake as well as getting a Peak 44 Blacktooth stock installed. I’ve had the rifle for roughly 3 months and took it on a Texas Axis Deer hunt. Let’s take a closer look at the Peak 44 Blacktooth Stock.

Concealed Carry Corner: How To Carry Without A Belt

For the vast majority of my time, a belt-mounted holster is the way to go. Whether it’s inside or outside the waistband, a belt-mounted holster is a great option for everyday use. There are a decent amount of times though, I run into a situation where I want to carry a gun without having pants with a belt look. Whether it’s board shorts or a pair of sweat pants, having a lack of belt support can be a real issue if you carry a belt-mounted holster for the majority of the time. Over the past couple of months, I’ve been asked a handful of times about the best way to carry with no belt. It’s also something I’ve dealt with over the years so let’s take a closer look at how to carry without a belt.

Concealed Carry Corner: Concealed Carry Priorities

A fairly common topic I get asked about is deciding what to carry on your body every day and what’s considered excessive. The last couple of weeks I have gone over what I personally carry and some of the accessories I like to carry on a daily basis. What the problem turns into is having everything you may need on your body which becomes extremely fatiguing over a full day. There are a lot of people who are “prepared” and carry several knives, a medkit on their leg and multiple firearms. It’s important to prioritize based on certain items. Let’s take a closer look at some concealed carry priorities.

Are AK Recoil Buffers a Necessity or Just Snake Oil?

As time has rolled on from the heydays of AK ownership in the US (the mid to late ’80s and the mid-2000s), something that has always been around, whether in the back of a sportsman’s catalog, Gun Rags, or your favorite firearm accessory website, you can find AK recoil buffers for sale. Touted as a solution to the violent recoil (let me just roll my eyes for a moment … there, that’s out of the way) of the AK rifle, as well as its apparent tendency to beat itself to death due to over gassing.  The droves of people new to the AK scene might not know what these are or if they actually work.

For some of you guys who have your own land or private shooting range this may be a bit of a non-issue, but for many of us who either have to drive dozens of minutes or maybe several hours to the range and back, forgetting something at home or not having a critical tool or accessory in your range bag and end the day prematurely and really put a damper on everyone’s mood when it was supposed to be an enjoyable range day.
