On Christmas Day, I posted about the top gun personalities you see at the gun range. We can all relate when seeing the various stereotypes at the range and have a good chuckle about it. I fell into a number of categories last time, so it’s perfectly fine to have fun with it and just laugh about all the crazy things we do as a community. Let’s dive into another round of top gun personalities I’ve seen at the range throughout my various sessions.

When it comes to precision rifle stocks and chassis, most manufacturers have moved to aluminum or composite materials. WOOX has gone in a different direction. They blend the old with the new. Their chassis are a mix of aircraft grade aluminum with the feel of a wood stock. The WOOX Wildman is their entry-level stock while the Exactus has elements of a precision stock. They sent them both in for us to check them out.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Iranian Embassy Siege that spanned from the morning of 30th April to 5th May 1980, in London. During that event, a group of six men from an area of Iran, dubbed locally as “Arabistan,” stormed the Iranian Embassy in London to take hostages in order to negotiate the release of Arabistani prisoners held by Iran and to gain more control over their claimed territory. Eventually, the British Special Air Service (SAS) took control of the situation, in the hopes that future would-be terrorists would think twice about messing with the United Kingdom.

Over the last few weeks, the TFB crew has discussed a number of times what their End of the World gun would be if they had to just pick one. I was rather torn since I typically carry a 10.5 AR pistol in my truck on a daily basis. The more I thought about it, there’s no way I would be stuck with a really short 5.56 barrel on my end of the world gun. Pete started this series and encouraged everyone to write their perfect gun and for the most part, I agree with Pete’s choices. The main difference between Pete’s choice and mine is the fact I live in the rather flat areas of Michigan.

As we fast approach the 40th anniversary of the Iranian Embassy Siege that took place in London from April 30 to May 5, 1980, let’s take a look back at the weapons of the era as depicted in the movie “6 Days”. Having been born during this event, I’m fascinated by the firearms and equipment, and how they’ve evolved since.  In this two-part series, we’ll first take a look at the guns of the hostage takers from “Arabistan,” then, in Part 2 we’ll look at the weapons of the British Special Air Service (SAS).

Over the last few years, my preferences have changed from Glock’s modularity to the P320 and its overall options for customization. Last week, I looked at the new RXP XCompact and the overall evolution of a factory SIG 320, but what about the aftermarket community?  The Glock community had an explosion in aftermarket parts as it became more popular and it created a cycle of new customers purchasing Glocks to build them exactly how they wanted them. I purchased my first Glock 19 for this reason but the P320 is different.

There is no denying, the last few weeks have been a little odd around the world. Normal daily practices like going out to dinner or hitting the range on a free day, have completely stopped. The number one complaint with shooters in my area is the lack of open ranges. Here in Michigan, most of the public ranges and indoor ranges have been shut down for public safety, so it really is difficult to find an accessible place to shoot if you don’t have private land.

Over the last year, the Kalashnikov KP-9 has become increasingly popular in the gun market as a cheaper alternative to the MP5 clones and other AR-style PCC guns. I have finally had my KP-9 out of the ATF jail so it is an SBR and I finally was able to run it as an SBR for a couple thousand rounds. After I spent some time with it, I’m excited to talk about the good and bad I’ve experienced so far with the fun little KP-9. Let’s dive into this little PCC tac driver.

Throughout the years, I have tried a fair number of products and really wish I wouldn’t have spent money on certain items. I think we all have a junk shelf in our gun room with old holsters or parts we thought would be a great addition to a concealed carry loadout, but ended up being a letdown. Over the past year, I’ve written all about different ways to carry handguns and the benefits of various setups. I thought it would be interesting to take three different concealed carrier’s gear and look at what they carry on a daily basis. These are various people I have either met at gun ranges or know personally who conceal carry daily. In previous articles, I’ve talked about how everyone’s set up is different despite carrying roughly the same things. Let’s dive into some different conceal carry loadouts and look at what people carry on a daily basis.

Over the last 6 months, I have been using and abusing the Haley Strategic SBR Thorntail2 mount with my Surefire Scout rifle light. I’ve owned this light for the last few years with the factory mount and overall I really like the light but hated the factory mount. Putting the Scout on something like my PWS MK116 Mod 2 created issues since it has a muzzle brake and would carbon the light up every magazine since it was so close to the muzzle. Putting the Scout on my short-barreled 308 only made the carbon and abuse even worse. I have used the original Thorntail on my 10.5 AR pistol for the last year and a half so I figured I would give the new one a shot. Let’s dive into the nitty-gritty of this low profile light mount.

With state and local governments actively trying to slow the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, many are resorting to classifying businesses as either essential or non-essential for emergency closure orders. In some states, firearms businesses have been labeled as non-essential and ordered closed. A local Kansas City, Kansas Order has all of CZ-USA closed until at least April 23, 2020. The company expects production and shipment delays to be inevitable.
