TFB Review: Salomon Forces Sua Sponte Mark III Boots

Having the proper gear at the range can be the difference between having an enjoyable day out and cutting the day short because you’re so miserable. One thing that has always proved important at the range is high-quality boots. A few months ago I did my write up on the Johnny Combat range boots from Viktos and said they were quality for the money. This past month I picked up the New Salomon Forces Sua Sponte Mark III boots from US Elite Gear as my new range boots. Let’s take a look at how these boots are for regular range use.

TFB Review: Inforce Wild2 Weapon Mounted Light

In the world of weapon lights, there are some pretty big names from SureFire to Streamlight. They both offer some great options for both pistol and rifle lights. I am a big fan of both the SureFire X300 line of weapon lights or Streamlight’s TLR-1 HL offerings. Inforce broke into the weapon-mounted light market a few years ago and offered a variety of models like the APL and APLc. The previous generation of Inforce lights was made out of polymer to keep the weapon light down on weight. It was a great option for people who wanted to keep the weight down on their guns while having a decently bright weapon light. Things have changed with the new Wild2 weapon light as this light has an aluminum housing. Let’s dive more into the new Inforce Wild2 weapon light.

Now Is The Time: Load Up On AR-15 DURAMAG Magazines

There are many critical parts of the AR-15 platform; the fire control group, the bolt, the gas key, the gas tube/block, to list a few, all need to be well-built and reliable. Often overlooked or otherwise taken for granted is the AR-15 magazine – a box with a spring that literally feeds your rifle or carbine with ammo. Without a magazine, Stoner’s little machine becomes a clunky, single shot, auto-ejecting firearm. Call it good planning, cheap insurance or being well outfitted, but stocking up on quality magazines should be a priority. Let’s take a look at the mag lineup from DURAMAG magazines.

TFB Review: Ultradyne Apollo Max .223/5.56 Muzzle Brake

As someone who generally is disinterested in the newest and coolest tacticool whatsa-whosits, I have to admit to you that I was surprised to pick up anything with the intention of improving my AR15 or making my shooting experience more enjoyable with one. The item in question today is the Ultadyne Apollo Max .223/5.56 Muzzle Brake. If you have not heard of Ultradyne, they are an American company with American made products in the form of firearm accessories such as sights, muzzle devices, and combinations of the two. With today’s subject being the Apollo Max Muzzle Brake, I should mention what makes it unique…it reduces recoil far better than other muzzle brakes I have been around and that can benefit the user in multiple ways. Let us dive right into a review on the Ultradyne Apollo Max .223/5.56 Muzzle Brake!

TFB Review: CZC 97BD 10mm Pistol

Full disclosure, I am a big 10mm fan.   Hence, the choice of a Glock 20 as my one pistol for a SHTF situation.  As I was cruising through SHOT 2020, I noticed a unique looking CZ97B in the corner of CZ’s booth. The grips grabbed my attention further, as they had “CZC 10mm” emblazoned upon them in red.  Sadly, this was not a CZ 10mm factory gun, but happily, this was an available pistol to order from CZ Custom, aka Ghost Products.  Trigger warning for those of you who hate high priced guns:  The cost of this pistol is in nosebleed territory: Roughly $2.5-3k, depending on how one configures it.

In the world of SIG pistol upgrades, there are a few different companies that make aftermarket upgrades for the SIG P-Series. Concealed Carry Corner: The Terrible Truth About Fanny Packs

Last week a buddy gave me a call and asked to come over to show me his new carry style. He walked into my house with a Rugrats fanny pack with a pair of white new balance shoes. I couldn’t help but laugh at the sight in front of me, but to my surprise, he pulled out a Glock 19 and said it fits perfectly. At that moment, I felt confused, angry, and disgusted all at once but let’s jump into the terrible truth about fanny packs.

Halloween Movies for Shooters: Gun Choice in Horror Films

Spooky Season is in full swing, and we here at TFB wanted to get into the spirit, so today I have a special Halloween edition article for all you ghouls and goblins. Although we’ve done some All Hallow’s Eve-themed work in the past, and we’ve also touched on movie guns from time to time, I thought it might be interesting to marry the two ideas for Halloween 2020. The horror film genre is inexorably married to this time of the year, and I know there are plenty of slasher, zombie, and paranormal movie buffs in the gun community. What follows is a cherry-picked selection of some Halloween-appropriate films, each of which features a notable firearm or the notable use of a firearm. Bear in mind, this is not a best-of list for scary shows or of best guns to take down Halloween monsters; after all, some great horror films don’t even feature guns prominently – or at all. We’ll take a look at the hand-cannons in each scenario, and I’ll offer ideas for different firearms that could’ve been used for the situation or scene in question. Get your costumes and candy buckets ready, kids!
