Gun Safe Organizers – Great Gifts That Won't Break The Bank!
With Christmas coming up, its time to look at various gifts for your fellow gun-loving shooting enthusiasts. A new gun is always a great idea but isn’t exactly possible for everyone’s budget. So, I figured it would be helpful to give ideas on another issue many shooters have. Typically when you start acquiring more firearms, it gets harder to keep things organized and easy to find. Last year, I decided to try and organize my gun safes up with organizers and it made a huge difference in keeping everything together. Over the years, I’ve tried a number of products and decided on three different organizing tools that don’t break the bank but make all the difference.
Conceal Carry Corner: Is An Aftermarket Trigger Good For Self Defense?
When we talk about upgrading our carry guns, there’s always the debate of swapping out various parts and carrying it daily on your person. Whether it’s a new set of sights, new barrel, magazine release, or aftermarket trigger, there will always be benefits and disadvantages with changing out parts on your carry gun. The biggest issue with changing parts on your concealed carry gun is the liability if you ever have to use it to defend yourself.
Australian Federal Police Select Daniel Defense Mk18 SBR's
In an effort to better respond to any acts of terrorism, the Australian Federal Police have selected Daniel Defense’s Mk18 short barreled rifles (SBR’s) for use in protecting Australian airports. The Federal Police released the information as a press release to inform the public of why they may see officers patrolling with upgraded hardware. They explained that there is not currently any elevated threat level, but that they are now better prepared in the event that an armed response is necessary in the form of Protection Operation Response Teams (PORT).
TFB Review: Viktos Johnny Combat Waterproof Boots
One of my many faults is the fact I tend to wear shoes way longer than I should. After 4 years of hard use, I finally retired my 5.11 boots and decided to look at a new pair less Tacticool. I had a few different options in mind but after trying a pair of Viktos Duty Gloves for cold range sessions, I thought they may be worth looking at. After trying out the gloves, I decided to check out a grey pair of Viktos Johnny Combat Boots. After looking around I decided to go with the waterproof versions since it is rapidly becoming winter time here in Michigan.
The Kali Key AR Bolt Action – Gimmick or California's Savior?
The Kali Key is one of those products that makes me sad it even exists. Having a product that turns your semi-auto AR into a bolt action with a few simple modifications. Now at first, I was somewhat puzzled why anyone would want to switch their AR to a bolt action and pretty much wrote it off. A few months after initially hearing about the Kali Key, a friend of mine had one and ask if I wanted to use it for a few months to see how it worked. I gladly accepted the offer and let’s dive into what the Kai Key is all about.
Gray Guns P320 Competition Trigger Upgrade Impressions
My SIG Sauer P320 X-Five has been my main range handgun for about a year now. I’ve grown very fond of the striker-fired handgun but always wanted to try and bring it to the next level. I installed a Gray Guns adjustable flat trigger in my P226 Elite and it completely changed the feel of the gun for the better. I decided to pick up a Gray Guns P320 Competition Trigger Upgrade pack with a straight trigger to try out. Let’s jump into my thoughts on Gray Guns aftermarket trigger pack.
Blast From The Past – The Walther PP
The Walther PP is one of those guns that many people today look at like its not impressive, but this little gun has quite the history both in gun world and in my personal life. The Walther PP is a small simplistic handgun that’s influenced quite a few pistols throughout history. My personal Walther PP has family history for me and is also an important gun in my collection.
CAA Introduces MCK Gen2 Conversion Kits
CAA USA has introduced the second generation of their MCK (Micro Conversion Kit) handgun conversion kit/chassis. Although visually it may look similar to the first generation, the MCK Gen2 has a number of (eight, to be exact) design changes that should actually improve the overall performance of the package quite a bit.
TFB Review: CMMG Resolute 300 Mk4 22LR AR-15 Upper
As any avid AR-15 shooter knows buying ammo for your range trips can be a painful experience. A fast trigger finger will not only put holes in your target but also your budget. In a search for cheaper to shoot solutions, I stumbled across one of CMMG‘s newest conversion kits. The Resolute 300 Mk4 22LR AR-15 upper receiver kit.
Why EVERYONE Should Learn How To Handle a Firearm
It’s no surprise to gun owners that firearms have become a taboo subject, and as such, they are shunned and avoided to the point that few people know how to handle a firearm safely. Despite the avoidance and shunning by those that don’t want to handle a gun, some of them may have to handle one anyway at some point in their life. The necessity may come from finding a firearm in a taxi, or finding a gun on a playground, or even as a police officer handling a gun from a crime scene.
TFB Review: Blacklist Industries G17 Drop-In Ultra-Match Barrel
There are nearly endless modifications you can apply to your stock Glock pistol. A new paint job for better curb appeal and durability… improved sights for faster target acquisition… or potentially a new barrel for the added utility of a suppressor or additionally improved accuracy. In this TFB Review, we take a look at one of Blacklist Industries’ Drop-In Ultra-Match Glock barrels for a G17. The factory barrel that comes in all Glock pistols performs as well as most any shooter could hope, but if you are looking to penetrate a higher tier of accuracy, a barrel upgrade could be the component that tips the scale for you. Let’s dive in and see what the Blacklist Industries G17 Drop-In Ultra-Match Barrel is all about!
[Big Daddy Unlimited 2019] LEO Takedown for your AR-15 Rifle or Pistol
TFB received an exclusive invite from Jonathan Faulkner and the good folks at BDU to attend their 2nd Annual Big Daddy Unlimited “Epic Shoot” 2019 being hosted at the 17 South Rod and Gun Club in Savannah, Georgia. While visiting the many manufacturers in attendance we came across a pretty unique accessory in the LEO Takedown.
Checking out Hold Up Displays Wall Mount – Installation and Initial Impressions
A few weeks ago, I installed a Tactical Walls Modwall up and thought it worked great for hanging guns and gear. People seemed interested in the overall concept so I decided to check out a different company for comparison. I ordered an 8ftx4ft section to hang onto my high security bunker wall otherwise known as my basement. After searching around, I decided to try out the Hold Up Displays Gun Wall panels. I grabbed two friends and we decided to mount this bad boy on the wall right above my gunsmithing table.

Pawn Shop Finds – The Poor Man's KSG… An 870 Bullpup
One of my favorite things about writing for TFB is being able to write about the crazy things I find in the wild. Last week I was running around the various shops in western Michigan and came across this bullpup 870 conversion. The guy behind the counter was an extremely grumpy old-timer who went on about MUH 1911 and how polymer guns are Chinese junk. I could write an entire article on the employee but the shotgun was something I was rather interested in checking out.
Underground Arms Watch – November Pt.1
A look into criminally manufactured firearms seized in recent months continuing from Part 2 of last month’s round-up.

Whether it’s a bug out bag or just something to haul your rifles to the range, they’ve got you covered. Savior Equipment was kind enough to send over a pair of rifle bags and their discreet carrying case for review.
Featured Deals of the Week – 11/8/19
Hello again everyone. It’s that time of the week again, it’s deal time. But it’s also a very special week for me because this week (or well really last week but who’s counting) marks my 1-year anniversary of starting writing here at TFB.
ODIN Works CQ-S Spring-Loaded Compact AR-15 Stock
Introduced at SHOT Show 2019, the Odin Works CQ-S (Close Quarter Stock) is now available for purchase. This AR-15 stock system has a micro buffer and flat wire spring which allow having a much shorter buffer tube that extends behind the lower receiver by only five inches. The short buffer tube, in its turn, makes for a really compact package when the adjustable MP-5 style stock is fully collapsed.
Soft Sided Mag Carriers vs Kydex Carriers – What's Best?
Over the last couple of months, people have asked me what’s the best way to carry rifle magazines at the range. The two main ways typically to carry magazines on a belt is either with a magazine pouch or molded Kydex carrier. Both ways can be extremely useful depending on the application. For this article, I’ll be looking at the High Speed Gear Industries Taco mag carrier system, but other general magazine soft pouches can be included in this.

What Would You Buy If You Had An Hour To Spend 1 Million Dollars On Guns and Gear?
Occasionally I’ll sit down in a restaurant with family or good buddies and strike up gun related conversations. A few years ago my dad jokingly said he would love to give me a million dollars to buy whatever gun parts I wanted, but the catch would be I only had an hour to spend it. He always laughed and said he had no doubt I could easily spend that on guns and gear if given the opportunity. It was a great conversation and whenever I go to trade shows or out to dinner with friends in the industry, I always ask the same question. Now don’t get me wrong, I know this article isn’t very scientific or informational but it’s something really fun to think about. Let’s dive into my choices for my 1 million dollar spending spree.
Soft vs. Hard Rifle Cases – What's Better For You?
When thinking about hard and soft rifle cases, it’s easy to just pick one without really looking at what works best. For years I picked one style of case and used it regardless of whether or not it was the best choice for me. Over the last few months, I’ve been asked several times how I pick what case to use and why. I figured this would be a perfect time to sit down and explain the uses of both styles so let’s jump into it.
Underground Arms Watch – October Pt.1
Occasionally police operations across the world churn up weapons produced solely for the criminal market. Some of these are improvised while others are semi-professionally produced in illicit workshops. Documented here are a handful of interesting examples uncovered in recent months.
The HK USP Compact – After 15 Years Of Use
The HK USP Compact holds a very special place in my heart. It was the first handgun I ever had and for the first five years, I shot the crap out of that gun. I think there’s always a special place in your heart for the first gun you own. The USP Compact was the first handgun I bought and learned how to shoot on. Luckily, I still own it today and still enjoy putting rounds through it at the range.
