Concealed Carry Corner: Five Important Things to Carry Daily

When thinking about carrying a concealed firearm, it’s easy to focus on one specific item rather than the overall big picture. It’s important to look at different aspects as a bigger picture rather than only worrying about just what knife you carry or what type of gun is best for you any given day. There’s a number of things everyone should at least consider carrying when they leave their house with a firearm. Now everyone may have different opinions on the matter, and that’s totally fine but just keep in mind this can be a flexible list depending on your preferences and needs for daily carry. Let’s dive into some of the most important things you can carry when concealing a firearm.

The Irish Guns Of 'The Siege Of Jadotville' Movie

The Siege of Jadotville is a 2016 movie, which is based on the book, “Siege at Jadotville,” by Declan Power, which is based on the real events that unfolded during the Congo Crisis in the early 1960s. The film follows “A” Company of the Irish 35th Battalion, deployed as a United Nations peacekeeping mission to the Congolese state of Katanga, where multiple factors and factions reached a boiling point. As the title of the film suggests, “A” Company, stationed in Jadotville, is besieged by an overwhelming force of separatists and mercenaries. I won’t dive into the politics of the conflict here, other than to say that one of the hot commodities that added to the turmoil in Katanga was that it was known for its rich supply of uranium, some of which found it’s way to end World War 2.

Gallenson's Guns: The Biggest Little Gun Store in America

There are two things that are easily remembered in the gun world.  Your first gun, and your favorite gun store.  Nestled in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City is my personal favorite, Gallenson’s Guns and Ammo.  In 1916 Russian immigrant and tailor,  William Gallenson, opened the store as a tailor shop. In 1925 that tailor shop turned gun store and pawnshop, and it’s been open ever since.

The Benefits of LARPing In Your Home

Over the last few years, LARPing has become something where certain people online and in the comment sections will continuously make fun of and say there’s no value in running around with all of your tactical gear. New Era of Compensated Pistols? The PMM P320 Compensator

I’ve always been one to believe that a compensator for ordinary pistols was somewhat pointless since there’s not much recoil from the rounds, to begin with. I’ve been using my P320 X-Five for about two years without any complaints. Things were great until I saw a used P320 compact for sale at $300. Like an addict looking for a score, I had to jump on the deal and was now the proud owner of yet another P320. Unlike my other P320’s, I was looking for a host gun to take the slide and fire control unit out to build something a little more special.  With all the hype about next generation pistol brakes, I decided to build a SIG P320 Compensated range gun.

[SHOT 2020] Big Brass Catcher and New Rifles from S.W.O.R.D. International

New for 2020 from S.W.O.R.D. is a humungous brass catcher that can fit their Mk18 Mod 1 Mjölnir chambered in .300 Norma mag, .338 Norma Magnum, and .338 Lapua Magnum.  The first thing to catch my eye when I walked by their booth, their new brass catcher sits under a beefy deflection chute that covers the ejection port.  The deflection chute is fastened to the rifle via a QD latch attached to a section of rail on the fore-arm.  This accessory will be a boon to shooters who want to keep their brass out of the dirt. More importantly, it satisfies an important safety requirement of heliborne snipers who might use such a weapons system:  Keeping their brass out of the rotors.

Shooting On The Move In Drills – Why It's Important

Finding time to go to the range isn’t always the easiest thing to do for everyone. We all have busy lives and even though range time is basically the male equivalent of a spa day, it’s not always easy to set aside a specific time to train. Often times when we get to the range, we like to do the same drills multiple times without trying anything new or pushing ourselves. In the past, I’ve talked about finding targets online to mix up training, but incorporating movement is a fairly big factor to gauge your current skill levels. Shooting on the move can also show a shooter what improvements they need to work on based off their hits on target.

The Top 6 Gun Personalities Around Today

Over the past few weeks, I was at various indoor and outdoor ranges with friends as well as coworkers of mine. On every occasion we saw a number of different people who all were equally unique in their own ways. We saw all kinds of people from the new guy who we thought were going to flag every person in the complex to the old man who was yelling about 45 ACP and MUH 1911. I was fairly amazed at the number of different people at the range. I think its a great thing more people are coming into the gun community but sometimes its fun to look at the various categories.

Owning Firearms And Navigating Social Media – Open Source Defense

Here’s an ironic twist for you: as someone who publishes content for the largest firearms news blog in the world, there are many days that I wish all social media would simply die in a fiery car crash. The endless bickering, the obsession with minutiae, rampant tribalism and all those selfie/foodie pics are like a bad case of herpes – persistently annoying. However, as a human, I recognize that social media is now how we actually interact with one another in the shadow of a new decade. Longing for the days of the Elks Club, poker night or any other type of in-person socializing will get us nowhere. Being visible online allows us to share our passions with millions of people around the world. And that is a powerful tool.

The Gundies – A Brand New Gun Community Awards Event
