Wheelgun Wednesday: A Closer Look at Pepperbox Pistols

From the late 18th to the mid 19th century, revolvers were expensive, uncommon, and had safety issues such as the chain-fire phenomenon, which would destroy the firearm (if you were lucky).  Firearms designers and manufacturers recognized the need for multiple shots, and somewhat of a solution to this problem came about in the form of the “Pepperbox”, essentially multiple loaded barrels that could be rotated into the firing position either by manual or mechanical means.

TFB Review: Boyds Classic Stock

I have an affinity for older guns. For whatever reason, I simply enjoy shooting guns that have some historical significance, even if it is minor. But this leads to a problem: how do you balance the wear and tear that comes with shooting or carrying an old gun against keeping that gun in good shape? Enter Boyds Gunstocks.

Radical Firearms RF-22 Rimfire Rifle

TacSol and Volquarsten have some competition with Radical Firearms’ relatively new RF-22.  Designed as an out-of-the-box accurized semiauto rimfire, the RF-22 features a Picatinny rail integrated with the receiver, a machined bolt and a match-grade threaded barrel with muzzle brake.  I’m not certain why a .22LR needs a muzzle brake, but I guess it looks cool while you wait for your silencer to get its stamp of approval.

A lot of people who have an interest in firearms, myself included, have a fondness for military history. This will often lead to collectors wanting firearms that were used by the armed forces. To help collectors of such firearms, SIG Sauer has just released a limited run of X-Change kits. TFB Weekly Amazon Deals 13: Budget Home Defense Shotgun Edition

Welcome to TFB Weekly Amazon Deals 13. For the last couple of months, James over at TFBTV has been going through a pretty extensive series of videos centered around shotguns. Although perhaps slightly less favored than handguns or rifles for home defense or tactical situations, the shotgun is often the first thing many people gravitate towards when they are thinking of home defense solutions. This week for our TFB Amazon deals, I’ve gone through some of the items that James has mentioned in his videos and found some that happen to be on sale. I’ve also found a few other deals on aftermarket shotgun accessories for those looking to put together a budget home defense shotgun setup. TFB Review: Sharps Xtreme Performance Bolt Carrier Group

Using patented technology, the Sharps Xtreme Performance Bolt (XPB) aims to improve your AR-15’s overall reliability under hard use. This isn’t just another mil-spec bolt carrier group (BCG).  Patented asymmetric bolt lugs are designed to cut through heavy fouling, and the XPB’s parts are all made from S7 tool steel. In order to see how tough the XPB really was, I dreamed up a steel-cased torture test, and Sharps Rifle Company kindly sent a couple versions of the XPB over for review.

All Access Tour Of Weatherby's World Headquarters

Growing up in Northern Michigan made it fairly easy to get into hunting. As I became older, I always wanted a Weatherby rifle and when I was in high school that dream became a reality. I ended up being able to buy a .300 Weatherby Magnum Ultralight. Fast forward fifteen years, I had the opportunity to get an all access pass into their facility along with their 373-acre shooting property. Weatherby has and continues to be an American company. Every Mark V is still built in their Sheridan Wyoming factory which makes seeing the process that much more special. Let’s take a deeper dive into Weatherby’s facility.

TFB Weekly Amazon Deals 10: 10/22 Accessories Edition

Welcome to TFB Weekly Amazon Deals 10. This week we’ve got a lineup of 10/22 accessories to look at. The 10/22 is kind of a jack of all trades when it comes to firearms. It’s cheap and fun to shoot but also makes a great small game hunting implement. The 10/22 has been around for close to 60 years now and I’m glad to see the rifle still being modified by end-users as well as Ruger adding new iterations from time to time. There’s nothing wrong with a bone stock 10/22 rifle but my own 10/22 is somewhat of a guinea pig for testing out different types of aftermarket parts, not so much to make the rifle more useful or reliable but more out of just pure morbid curiosity on what said accessories are all about. This week I’ve gathered a few items I think are useful and also happen to be one sale. Enjoy!

The Delta/Gordon Carbine – A True Modern Classic

There’s a saying that says what old is new, and the popularity of fixed carry handle rifles have made a roaring resurgence whether it’s nostalgia or space for collectors to build something different from the ordinary sea of flat top ARs with an MLOK handguard. One of the most iconic is the Gordon Carbine and 90s era Delta rifles. Now some people are die-hard clone builders and that’s awesome, but the 90s Delta rifles are a style of their own. This summer, I decided to take a deeper look into the Delta-style rifles and build an AR that wouldn’t be out of place in the delta world during the 1990s. Let’s take a dive into the Delta and Gordon Carbine which has truly become a modern-day classic.

Concealed Carry Corner: Carrying Concealed While Hiking

Over the last few months, I have started going on hikes daily typically with a larger hiking pack. Hiking park trails is a great alternative exercise to running while making your body work harder. Like many others, I gained a few pounds in the days of Covid lockdowns, so this summer I really put forth an effort to shed the extra weight and get in better shape. While carrying with a large pack, it can be difficult to carry a handgun comfortably, especially if you start to get tired and fatigued. Depending on where you live and where you’re hiking, there are a few different options for carrying concealed while hiking so let’s take a deeper dive into it.

Concealed Carry Corner: Carrying In Crowded Areas

Over the last week, I have been down in Myrtle Beach visiting friends and seeing the various sights there are down in the southeast part of the country. Every time I head down to the boardwalk or any other touristy place around the area, I started thinking about the pros and cons of carrying when there’s a ton of people around. For new carriers, carrying in a crowded area can be extremely stressful just on the fact there are so many eyes that potentially could see your firearm. This is typically a fairly common fear among new conceal carriers, but crowds aren’t always your enemy. Let’s take a deeper look at carrying in crowded areas.
