SILENCER SATURDAY #254: Talking Suppressors with Karl Brgger from B&T

Good morning everyone and welcome back to TFB’s Silencer Saturday brought to you by Yankee Hill Machine, manufacturers of the new reduced blowback YHM Turbo T3 rifle suppressor. Last week we discussed the universal 1.375 x 24 mounting system and it’s applications throughout the industry. This week we get to have a conversation with Karl Brügger, owner and chief visionary of B&T – formerly named Brügger and Thomet. A few months ago, my suppressor brother-from-another-mother, Austin R. traveled to Switzerland with TFBTV’s James Reeves to spend a few days with Karl and the B&T team.

POTD: Tri-Lugged! B&T AP9 with SQD Suppressor

We’re always on the lookout for the best firearms-related images out there and today we get some help from B&T USA. They have dressed up their APC9 and its three-lug with an SQD suppressor.  I’m very happy to own two APC9s, which I bought about ten years ago (in Europe), long before they came into fashion and became available in the US market. I’ve used one of them extensively for PCC and Steel Challenge target shooting and practicing with pretty good results.

TFB HANDS ON: The B&T SPC10

Unveiled during our recent trip to Switzerland, the B&T SPC10 is the newest member of the Special Purpose Carbine (SPC) lineup.  It carries over features from the SPC family with more AR parts compatibility out of the box.  It even takes Glock mags.  I had a chance to go over the SPC10 and put a few rounds through it and here’s what I found.

Inside the B&T Swiss Factory of Dreams

Located in Thun (pronounced “toon”) Switzerland sits B&T’s Swiss Factory of Dreams where firearms and accessories can be scaled to outfit a military while others are built simply “Because They Can”.  I had the rare opportunity to travel to B&T AG’s Swiss headquarters and be given a tour of where some of the most mainstream, obscure, and simply fascinating ideas in the firearms world come to life.  Here’s what I found inside B&T headquarters in Switzerland.

The Rolex of Tactical Pistols: The B&T USW-P 9mm

In this episode of TFBTV, James Reeves interviews Karl Brugger, the president of B&T, about the new B&T USW-P. The USW-P at first seems like little more than a modular, striker-fired, high-end CZ-75 clone, but as Karl reveals, this gun is much, much more than that. The USW-P has a number of features discussed in the video, but also manages to integrate into the USW-SF chassis system made by B&T to convert the gun into a 9mm carbine.

TFB HANDS ON: The B&T USW-P Striker-Fired Pistol

TFB had a chance to shoot the first B&T USW-P striker-fired pistol during a recent visit to the B&T headquarters in Switzerland.  Military-inspired, this new striker-fired 9mm pistol is designed specifically for the civilian market.  I had a chance to shoot this pre-production pistol and talk with B&T AG staff about the pistol during our recent visit.  Here’s what I learned.

NEW B&T KH9 Covert: A Packable 9mm Carbine

In this episode of TFBTV, James Reeves is at B&T in Switzerland interviewing Karl Brugger about the NEW KH9 Covert. The original KH9 is a Swiss version of the Italian SITES Spectre SMG, a straight blowback 9mm pistol caliber carbine. However, the KH9 Covert has a couple of tricks up its sleeve compared to the original. The KH9 Covert’s pistol grip and magazine well can be folded away in a 90° position, which means that the KH9 Covert’s already slim configuration can be easily stowed in an (included) messenger bag or possibly under a coat without raising the operator’s profile. The pistol grip and magazine well can be rapidly deployed. The KH9 Covert has a unique trigger system where the safety lever acts as a de-cocker for the internal hammer as the trigger is capable of double-action or single-action firing. The KH9 Covert has rails for optics and accessories and a tri-lug adapter on the barrel for use with a quick-attach suppressor. The KH9 features fully ambidextrous controls and the carbine accepts all APC9 or MP9 type polymer magazines.

TFB HANDS ON: The B&T KH9 Covert

During our recent trip to B&T AG in Switzerland, B&T unveiled their new KH9 Covert.  This newest version will be made exclusively in Flat Dark Earth (FDE) and will be imported into the U.S. in limited numbers as a pistol.  I had the opportunity to sit down with B&T executives while in Switzerland to talk about the new KH9 Covert.

TFB HANDS ON: The B&T TP380

Originally unveiled at IWA in 2016, the B&T TP380 is coming to the U.S. very soon.  This scaled-down version of the larger TP9 or MP9 is incredibly light and feeds from magazines varying in size from 15 to 30 rounds.  I had a chance to look over and shoot this gun while in Switzerland visiting B&T AG headquarters.

Pocket-size Cyberpunk SMG: The B&T TP380

In this episode of TFBTV, James Reeves looks at the ultra-compact, cyberpunky TP380. The TP380 is a .380 ACP pistol/PCC/SMG introduced by Swiss B&T (Brugger & Thomet) almost 10 years ago. Initially earmarked for the South American civilian market, B&T never obtained an export license for the guns and they sat on B&T’s shelves in Thun. However, B&T is planning on introducing the subcompact .380 ACP as a pistol in the US market by the end of 2022 or the beginning of 2023. James talks with Karl Brugger personally about the TP380 and gives you his first impressions.

TFB HANDS ON: The Swiss B&T BWC

After a decade of waiting, I finally had a chance to get hands-on with the B&T BWC.  Using the already popular P320 Fire Control Unit (FCU), this design finally makes a new school folding short-barreled rifle a reality.  I had the rare opportunity to travel to Switzerland with the TFBtv crew to get hands-on with the BWC and send a few rounds downrange.

Incredible Swiss Folding Gun: The B&T BWC

In this episode of TFBTV, James Reeves visits B&T in Switzerland to see their take on the folding carbine, the B&T BWC (“Because We Can”). The BWC is a 9mm folding SMG/PCC that uses a SIG P320 fire control unit or “FCU” meaning that the BWC itself is not a firearm, but a frame or chassis. This means that this folding pistol chassis is unregulated – a mere accessory. A SIG P320 owner can buy this chassis like any other unregulated accessory because it does not come as a complete firearm. Once you purchase it, you need only insert a SIG P320 FCU and slide/barrel upper, and you have a complete folding carbine.

Lingle Industries GHM9/APC9 Scorpion Mag Lower

B&T mag prices got you down? Standard capacity mags for their popular APC9 pistols usually run between $60 and $75. Thankfully,  Lingle Industries has just made its new GHM9/APC9 Scorpion mag lower available for sale on their website. CZ Scorpion mags are much easier to find and can be had at between a third to half the price of the stock B&T magazines, and if you’re a mag hoarder like I am, the price of this lower can be quickly made up for in the cost savings.
