Due to import restrictions, foreign manufactured silencers are only available to license holders as well as military and law enforcement customers. As of today, however, B&T can officially announce the U.S. manufacture of a variety of HK silencers available to the civilian market.

NEW: B&T USWA1 Compact

Swiss firearms manufacturer B&T has quietly released the USWA1 Compact, a slimmed down version of the ‘recently released to the U.S.’ pistol that features a folding stock and a compatible holster. Designed for European law enforcement to combat terrorism in “dynamic” environments, the USW platform gives officers and agents some of the capabilities of a personal defense weapon (PDW) without the added bulk and visibility that comes with carrying a slung rifle.

Bundeswehr receives new Monoblock Suppressor for G29

The German Army is acquiring a new suppressor for the currently fielded .338 Lapua G29 precision rifle in use by the infantry’s snipers. The device was produced in a joint collaboration between Brugger and Thomet and the maker of the G29 (civilian RS9) C.G. Haenel GmbH. If the suppressor is ever released to the public or at least to other military/LE entities it will probably only have the capability of mounting to an RS9 because of the proprietary muzzle brake. In order to cut down on weight, the brake is fabricated out of aluminum, an interesting choice given that it will need to withstand high amounts of heat. However, the suppressor did pass the Bundeswehr’s trials of at least surpassing 2,000 rounds shot through it. The Jane’s report highlights the suppressor weight as 628 grams, however the Haenel website highlights it as 580 grams. The difference might be measured with the muzzle brake or perhaps a shroud protecting it that adds additional weight.

Dakota Tactical: First Wave Of B&T USWA1 Pistols Hits U.S. Shores

B&T continues to introduce their products to America, although, unfortunately, slower than most of us would like due to ATF approval processes. As I anxiously await the VP9 (not that one) to be granted access, another one of the Swiss pistols is finally available. Joe Stoppiello, owner/operator of Dakota Tactical, was nice enough to take some pictures of the newest addition to the B&T lineup to enter the U.S. market: the USWA1. Imported via B&T USA in Tampa, FL as a pistol, owners following the ATF Form 1 process will be able to give life to its true SBR state.
