Bul Armory Introduces 2023 Axe Hatchet Handgun Models

Bul Armory has been producing small arms for about a third of a century, since the Israeli operation’s founding in 1990. In the US, they’ve come to be probably most commonly known for their 1911s, notably their competition-purposed race guns. However, they also produce handguns intended for duty use and EDC/concealed carry. Over the last year or so, there have been rumblings about some new and improved polymer-framed models coming to the US, as James and Luke C. reported on at last year’s IWA trade show. More updates emerged earlier this month from IWA 2023, and now Bul has announced that their new 2023 Axe Hatchet handgun models, generally comparable to the Glock 17 and 19 but with some apparent aftermarket customization-inspired features, should be available later this year. Check out the details in the press release copied below.

The Most Underrated SMG Ever? The Beretta MX4 Storm

In this episode of TFBTV, James Reeves is looking at one of the most underrated SMGs ever, the Beretta MX4 Storm. Like the more tactical version of the Beretta CX4 Storm, the MX4 is light, short, easy to handle, and features a blistering 950rpm rate of fire. This is a massively underrated and reasonably priced SMG. Unfortunately, it’s not available in the USA, but it’s still a fun watch, we promise.

SILENCER SATURDAY #271: Selecting The Best Personal Defense Weapon (PDW)

Good afternoon everyone and welcome back to TFB’s Silencer Saturday brought to you by Yankee Hill Machine, manufacturers of the new YHM Turbo T3 5.56 rifle suppressor. Last week we took the new 16″ 5.56mm SIG MCX-SPEAR LT rifle and SLX556C-QD out on the range for some accuracy and sound evaluation testing. Today we will discuss the characteristics that make the best Personal Defense Weapon (PDW) and the reasons that I believe a PDW should be suppressed. Let’s take a look.

TFB Review: Bear Creek Arsenal BC-9 Side Charging 9mm AR

In recent years, 9mm carbines have been hitting the market in various styles, and the Side Charge, Bear Creek Arsenal BC-9 Carbine, is a unique offering in its own right. The BC-9 is based around the AR-15 style platform and accepts Glock pattern magazines, but as the title implies, the action is operated by a lever on the side of the gun, rather than the traditional AR charging handle at the top rear of the receiver. Let’s take a look at how this design stacks up as I put the Side Charge BC9 through its paces.

Welcome everyone to the 180th edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – is this Gat a sweet deal or only has a Fudd appeal?  Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article.

Anderson Manufacturing Kiger-9c PRO Pistol

At the end of the past year, Anderson Manufacturing launched the Kiger-9c, a Glock 19 Gen3 parts compatible pistol that offers some differences from the G19 in terms of ergonomics and appearance while retaining the reliable core mechanism of the perfection pistols. The company has now announced a new version of this pistol called Kiger-9c Pro which is lighter than the regular Kiger-9c thanks to the lightening cuts in the slide and fluted barrel as well as features suppressor-height sights, an optics-ready slide and extended controls (slide release and magazine release).

[EnforceTac 2023] H&K Presents the Ultra-Compact SFP9CC

During the EnforceTac 2023 exhibition in Nuremberg, Germany, H&K has given us a few more details on the upcoming SFP9CC micro-compact carry pistol. The SFP9CC will have a ton of features that should make it much easier to adapt to for those coming from a full-sized pistol configuration like the H&K VP9.

[EnforceTac 2023] H&K's First Micro Compact 9mm: The SFP9CC!

In this episode of TFBTV, James Reeves is at EnforceTac in Nuremberg Germany on February 28, 2023 to see the public unveiling of the impressive, first “one and a half stack” micro compact 9mm handgun from Heckler & Koch: The SFP9CC. This Heckler & Koch pistol will compete directly with pistols like the SIG P365 and Springfield Hellcat. The pistol will be very similar to the successful VP9 series of pistols. The SFP9CC will have a modular chassis, meaning that the fire control unit will bear the serial number, and the operator can swap frames and slides without having to buy another “gun” in the legal sense. The end user can buy one “gun” and then swap frames, slides, and grip panels. At launch, the slides available will be optics-ready and iron-sights-only versions. The two launch frames will both be sized to fit flush with 10+1 round 9mm magazines, but one will have a Picatinny rail and one will not. There will also be six backstraps to choose from: small, medium, or large in beavertail and non-beavertail configurations. This is one of the most exciting pistols to come from H&K in a long time, so make sure you watch the video and make sure to subscribe to TFBTV Show Time to see the rest of the content from EnforceTac and IWA.

Meet the New Folding Pistol Carbine (M&P FPC) from Smith & Wesson

If you are a huge fan of the idea of folding pistol caliber carbines but have never been happy with the available options on the market, then you’ll be happy to hear that a new contender has arrived. Smith & Wesson has just announced the launch of their new M&P FPC or Folding Pistol Carbine. NEW Folding Carbine from Smith & Wesson: The FPC

In this episode of TFBTV, James Reeves gets his hands on the NEW Smith & Wesson FPC. The FPC (Folding Pistol Carbine) is a 16″ barreled pistol caliber carbine that borrows heavily from the Smith & Wesson M&P pistol series, with a similar trigger and controls. It comes packaged with a soft case, one 17-round capacity and two 23-round capacity magazines. The FPC is obviously similar to the Kel-Tec SUB-2000 folding carbine, so James compares the FPC to his SUB-2000.

TFB Review: The Single-Action Smith & Wesson Equalizer

The past few years saw an insane number of first-time gun owners. If any of you are reading this, welcome to our community! One of the more popular handguns for n00bs was the Smith & Wesson Shield EZ. It was originally only available in .380 ACP, then 9x19mm. S&W has pushed another evolution of the pistol. Though not an exact sequel, the Equalizer is the Split to the EZ’s Unbreakable, and today it’s the topic of our review.

Official Release: The Henry Homesteader 9mm Semiauto Rifle

I love TFB with all my heart, but my next job will include ‘riding fences’ as part of my daily duties. Whether it’s a lever action like a side loading .30-30 or the new Henry Homesteader 9mm semiautomatic rifle with wood furniture, my vision involves a horse, Copenhagen long cut, and a solid hat to keep the setting sun out of my eyes. In reality, me ‘riding fences’ probably would involve a 20 year old mountain bike, jean shorts, and looking for my lost cat. But I digress, the Henry Homesteader is definitely intriguing and I’m happy to see a non-standard 9mm long gun with a threaded barrel enter the market. Now Henry, how about a lever action version?

SILENCER SATURDAY #266: MP5 + B&T SQD = Awesome

Good afternoon everyone and welcome back to TFB’s Silencer Saturday brought to you by Yankee Hill Machine, manufacturers of the new YHM Turbo T3 5.56 rifle suppressor. Last week I made my pitch that everyone should own a 5.56mm bolt action rifle and suppressor combination (the Ruger American Ranch in particular). This week we dive into a classic pairing that is becoming more and more prevalent every year in the United States – H&K and B&T. Specifically, the B&T SQD RBS – Super Quick Disconnect and Reduced Backpressure System 9mm suppressor – on the H&K MP5 and MP5K sub-machine guns. Yes it’s awesome, but we should look at the details before typing in our billing information. Let’s dig in.
