H&K unveiled the new VP9 SK OR (Optics Ready) at today’s Industry Day at the Range. This newest addition to the VP9 lineup adds features to the carry model as well as some new refinements.  H&K was kind enough to walk me through the new pistol and let me try out their newest optics-ready variant.

Today at Shot Show’s Industry Day at the Range, Walther showed off for the first time their brand new PDP SD Pro. Walther’s PDP handgun was released in February of 2021 as a successor to the highly-regarded PPQ. The PDP provided a factory optics cut slide, a more aggressive grip serration pattern, and an upgraded trigger when compared to the old PPQ models.

At today’s pre-Industry Day at the Range, Standard Manufacturing unveiled their newest SG9 pistol.  This new striker-fired offering comes in both a regular and optics-ready version. Their president was kind enough to show us the newest pistol first.

The Model P-10 was CZ’s answer to the striker-fired, polymer-framed pistol market, and currently includes around nine different variations spread across four different letter designations. Other models include the C, S, and M designations, while the full-size CZ P-10 F features a longer grip to accommodate added magazine capacity, and no one in the competition market should balk at the extra half-inch of barrel length and sight radius of the CZ P-10 F Competition-Ready model. Due to the name “Competition-Ready” CZ didn’t want to stop there, so let’s take a look at what this model has to offer.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has awarded Winchester Ammunition a large contract for 9×19 mm ammunition in three out of four of their categories. The categories are Duty/Service (Micro),Training – Reduced Lead and Frangible, and below you can find which types of ammunition the agency chose.

Lead-based ammunition has been showing its age over the past few years. Shooters have been looking for alternatives to lead to keep from ingesting it, and because of the superior performance gained by using other materials. I think we collectively realized that the risks involved with lead aren’t worth continuing along the same path. New for 2022, CCI Blazer has introduced a lead-free option for 9mm shooters. I was sure that I was going to hate this pistol. Single action, a manual safety, an aluminum frame, and of course hammer-fired, all mean that I was solidly out of my comfort zone with Smith & Wesson’s new CSX 9mm carry pistol. What boomer asked for this nonsense? If you were to put an M&P Shield and a Colt Officer’s model in a hotel room, threw in a bottle of schnapps and walked away, this gun would probably be the end result. But despite my love of polymer, striker-fired, utilitarian pistols, it is very easy to love the CSX – it definitely is not my style, but it is sexy, fun, and capable. If you are a 1911 fan who has been looking for a pocket-sized carry pistol, welcome home. This is your gun.

In a bit of a recent gun-industry surprise, Smith & Wesson has just introduced the new CSX micro-compact pistol. The new metal-framed single-action pistol will initially come chambered in 9mm and will feature a unique aluminum alloy frame complete with ambidextrous controls and of course interchangeable backstraps as are popular with the M&P series of pistols. So what’s up with the new Smith & Wesson CSX?

Ammunition has returned to the shelves but at much higher prices than we saw them leave with. While the price hike to meet demand in these trying times hardly seems fair to most of us, it is simply just the reality we live in right now (and don’t even get me started on primers). Right now towards the end of this crazy year, I’m just happy that I can walk into the store and still find ammunition on shelves, and aside from a few particularly hot cartridges, most kinds of ammo are in stock and seem to be remaining at more or less stable pricing. I went through some of my most frequented sites to find in-stock and reasonably priced ammunition for you guys, so for Santa’s Big Bag of Ammunition edition for the last day of TFB Christmas, pick yourself, a friend, or a loved one a couple boxes of ammo for your own bag – the range bag. Savage Arms has just introduced their new micro-compact EDC handgun, the Stance 9mm pistol. With the introduction of the Stance, Savage marks their return to the arena of concealed carry and self-defense-oriented handguns and according to a press release by Savage, will only be the first in a new family of handguns to come further down the line. The new pistol features an 18° grip angle, ambidextrous controls, ported slide, and a removable chassis that will allow for interchangeable grips. Full details in the press release are below.

You’ve heard of Night Stand Duty guns, but what about Christmas Tree Protection Duty guns? Of course, I was just being facetious in regards to this sweet, festive photo I found from Instagrammer,  @aviatorsarmory, but I did a search just for kicks and found that Christmas tree theft is actually a thing. Celebrating the birth of Christ by violating one of the Ten Commandments is an interesting concept.

“Now I Have A Machine Gun Ho-Ho-Ho”. Yes, it’s a Christmas movie and no I still can’t afford an H&K SP5 (or a genuine MP5 for that matter). That being said, I can’t even really find any of them for sale these days despite it being more than a year since they were released into the US market.
