Budget Carry Optics: The Taurus GX4 T.O.R.O Is Finally Here!

The newest iteration of Taurus’ successful GX4 micro-compact 9mm pistol is finally here. The Taurus GX4 T.O.R.O (Taurus Optics Ready Option) has just been announced. It will be compatible with many of the market’s most popular red dot sights and features a lot of flexibility in terms of optics selection for budget-minded customers. If you’ll remember, we reviewed the Taurus GX4 when it was released earlier this year and so far I and Hop of TFBTV have been very pleased with the pistol but have been anticipating the release of the T.O.R.O version of the pistol which we had assumed would be coming soon due to the fact that the G3C T.O.R.O worked so well.

TFB Review: JP Enterprises JP5 Roller Delayed Blowback PCC

In recent years PCC or pistol caliber carbine has rapidly exploded into popularity in the competition scene with many enjoying it for its ease of entry and fast pace.  For a long time direct blowback guns like CZ Scorpions, AR9’s and gas-operated rifles like the SIG Sauer MPX reigned supreme in the division but JP’s newest offering, the JP5, takes the cake when it comes to high-end PCC’s for competition.

POTD: The 9mm CZ Vz. 68 (ZB 68) or Skorpion Evo 2 SMG

Many of you probably know about the original CZ Skorpion, the Vz. 61. It is a pretty compact and lightweight SMG, however, being chambered in .32 ACP, it’s a rather underpowered gun. Now, I bet not many of you know that there was actually a 9x19mm (9mm Luger) version of this subgun which never entered production though. This experimental bigger sibling of Vz. 61 was dubbed Vz. 68 (a.k.a. ZB 68, a.k.a Skorpion Evo 2) and it is what we are taking a look at in today’s Photo Of The Day.

TFB Review: Walther PDP Pistol

In February of this year (2021) after an aggressive marketing campaign, Walther released their new series of striker-fired pistols dubbed the Performance Duty Pistol or PDP. The striker-fired pistol market has become increasingly competitive in recent years, especially in the aftermath of the Army Service Pistol contract that ended up going to the SIG Sauer P320. While SIG won the contract, it was the average consumer that really won out on that competition when every major pistol producer put out their version of the striker-fired duty pistol in the commercial market. It is hard to really batter any of these offerings and the market has turned toward a direction without a singular leader to an environment where purchase decisions are being driven by personal preference over semantic details. With all this market congestion (and admittedly great pistols nearly across the board), Walther seems to have come a bit late to the game with this release. It could be argued that they missed the boat, but with a field this congested, they also have plenty of critique to draw from. So, did Walther make something here that separates it from the pack? Let’s take a look.

Springfield Armory SA-35 9mm – An Authentic Hi-Power Reproduction

For those who might already be devoted fans of Springfield Armory on social media, you may have noticed an intentionally cryptic photograph they shared last week. This black and white image depicted a gunsmith toiling away at his workbench on some unknown firearm with the phrase: “We’re bringing it back.” This lead to a lot of speculation that Springfield might be reproducing the M1 Garand or something else equally iconic. If you were clever enough though and picked up on some clues that Springfield was laying down, you likely already identified their new firearm. A clock displayed the time 19:35 which could mean 7:35pm or the year 1935. There is also a photo of one of the greatest firearm inventors who ever lived: John Moses Browning. So, what did John Browning invent in 1935?… He invented the first double-stack, semi-auto pistol ever in the Hi-Power. So, Springfield Armory is proud to announce their Hi-Power clone, reproduction in the SA-35 9mm!

Today we’ll travel across the pond again to take a look at another such firearm – the 9mm lever-action carbine recently introduced by the British Southern Gun Company (SGC).

NEW Beretta M9A4 Optics Ready Pistol

Beretta has just released their latest version of the famous 92 series, the Beretta M9A4, which comes as an improvement over the M9A3. Beretta’s M9A4 webpage states that there are five different optics mounting plates available, and at the time of this publishing, Beretta stated that M9A4 buyers can get an optics plate for free upon registering their pistol.
