I remember when the goal of all new cellphones was to be as compact as possible, even if that meant the buttons were almost impossible to use. Since then, there has been a trend of phones getting bigger, as people are seeing the benefit of choosing added capability instead of convenience. However, the rapid advancement of technology has landed us in a pretty sweet middle ground. Modern cell phones have all of the features we need while staying compact. Everything I just said about phones has been mirrored by the concealable handgun market. With advancements in magazines, belts, and holsters, carrying a larger, more capable firearm has become a more accessible option, and we seem to have landed in that same middle ground. Holding a flush 15 rounds, plus coming with a Picatinny rail, 3.7″ barrel, and an optics-ready slide, this is the new Hellcat Pro from Springfield Armory.

Big is back. Shooters have been shying away from small guns and opting for compact but capable micro-compacts. Springfield Armory’s entrance into the micro-compact market was a huge success with the introduction of the Hellcat. With that success comes more accessories, but more importantly, more guns. SIG Sauer has announced the latest addition to America’s #1 selling micro-compact pistol lineup – the P365XL Spectre Comp. The new pistol features a new SIG Custom Works slide with an integrated compensator that allegedly reduces muzzle flip and felt recoil by up to 30%. The new pistol will also feature a handful of other upgrades and non-standard features that set it apart from your standard P365XL.

During the SHOT Show 2022, Foxtrot Mike Products (FM Products) has introduced a new 9mm PCC called Hybrid. The feature that jumps out immediately and sets this pistol caliber carbine apart from the competition is the design of its polymer lower receiver. Particularly, the design of the pistol grip which allows housing a spare magazine (yes, Glock magazine).

FB Radom had a variety of firearms displayed at their SHOT Show 2022 booth. One of the most anticipated guns of this Polish company in the US market is probably the MSBS GROT family of rifles. Unfortunately, the company could not tell any details concerning the importation of these rifles. What they do start importing to the USA is the VIS-100 M1 pistol which will soon be available via Arms Of America. This is the civilian version of the VIS-100 pistol (formerly known as PR-15) adopted by the Polish military.

KCI USA showed off their new magazine for the B&T 9mm series of guns. Bottom line up front: suggested retail is $34.99 for a 30-round magazine, and they should be available within the next month. All KCI magazines are manufactured in Korea, but tested in the US. KCI said they have done extensive drop testing on this new magazine, and they had numerous videos of it being dropped from all angles on all sides.

At the SHOT Show 2022 Industry Day at the Range, MKS Supply brought the recently released Barnaul subsonic 9x19mm ammunition and offered to test it in a suppressed full-auto 9mm AR … few things are more fun than that! Let’s see what specs this subsonic 9mm ammunition has.

CAA has been showing off their new 9mm PCC, the AGADA, as well as their new Gen3 Micro Conversion Kit (MCK).

We’ve all made fun of Turkish clones of guns. I’m certainly guilty of it. But today I’m eating a little humble pie, as EAA imports the Girsan MC P35 Match, a Hi-Power with all the modern features.

I have to admit to being a bit of a Radian fanboy. The Raptor charging handle is second to none in my opinion, and I have one in each of my ARs at home. It looks like there might be two more Radian products coming to my personal guns, the Ramjet barrel, and Afterburner micro-compensator.

KelTec unveiled a brand new micro 9mm pistol at SHOT 2022, the P15. It is very much a part of the current trend of ever higher capacity micro concealed pistols. The P15 takes its name from the 15-round magazine that comes with the gun. A 12-round flush fit magazine is included as well.

LMT unveiled the newest addition to its lineup with the MARS-L9.  The L9 incorporates features from the legendary MARS family of rifles and looks to make a big splash in the PCC market.  I had the chance to shoot the MARS-L9 and talk with LMT about it during Shot Show’s Industry Day at the Range.

Winchester Ammunition had several new varieties available at Shot Show 2022 Industry Range Day. The USA Ready Defense 9mm +P 124-grain load was present in quantity. The HEX-VENT polymer insert aids in expansion by “channeling material flow” as it passes through the target. Winchester’s promotional materials advertise over 12″ of penetration and 95% weight retention. Several blocks of ballistic gel were on hand and seemed to back up those penetration claims.
