The Rimfire Report: CMMG Bravo 22LR AR-15 Conversion Kit

Hello and welcome back to another edition of The Rimfire Report! This ongoing series is all bout the rimfire firearm world and its many firearms, ammunitions, shooting sports, and history! Last time on The Rimfire Report we took a look at the very budget-friendly Heritage Arms Rough Rider 22 caliber rimfire revolver. That little revolver is apparently one of the best-kept secrets of the rimfire world as many of you have had similar enjoyable results as I did while shooting the revolver. However, when it comes to modern arms and training, nothing is quite as ubiquitous or common as America’s rifle, the AR15. Pete’s September 3rd SILENCER SATURDAY featured a full-auto CMMG 22LR AR-15 conversion kit. Humorously enough, I had already planned to do a review and overview of the CMMG Bravo 22LR AR-15 Conversion Kit for Rimfire Report and if it hadn’t been Labor Day weekend, you all would have gotten a double dose of CCMG rimfire goodness. Unfortunately, our overview today will be a much milder, semi-auto look at the conversion kit but the same warning that Pete aired last week will be aired here – be careful, this conversion kit is sure to bring a smile to your face.

TFB Review: Blue Force Gear Standard AK Sling

The rifle sling – one of the oldest and most useful rifle accessories which despite often being underrated, is a must-have for carrying a rifle in the field, more important than a lot of other things we accessorize our rifles with. A well-designed sling is not only a mean for carrying your rifle but will allow you to improve your weapon manipulations and increase the stability of the gun while shooting. While any sling is better than no sling, having one specifically designed for your particular weapon system should in theory be much more preferable. In this article, we’ll find out if it is so in practice in the case of AK rifles and the Blue Force Gear Standard AK Sling.

TFB Review: Bianchi Shenandoah OWB/IWB Convertible Holster

It’s hard to set yourself apart these days when it comes to holsters – especially ones that are geared towards concealed carry applications. However, I recently took the opportunity to review one of Bianchi’s hybrid leather holsters that caught my eye, and today we’ll be taking a look at it. The Bianchi Shenandoah OWB/IWB holster is a fully convertible, dual-carry holster with the ability to easily switch between IWB and OWB carry positions with minimal parts change and also with a 50% leather construction but in the reverse of how many other companies accomplish this. This holster is more interesting than meets the eye and today I hope I can properly demonstrate its features and advantages to you.

TFB Review: XS R3D SA-35 Night Sights – Worth the Upgrade?

The SA-35 handgun from Springfield Armory made waves late last year when it was officially unveiled to the public. Those who had been seeking a Hi-Power pistol were finally able to get their hands on something authentic to the original design, but with a few modernized changes. My initial experiences with the handgun did in fact give me that authentic Hi-Power feeling with its natural pointability, fit in the hand, and crisp, light single-action trigger pull. If you’re planning on carrying the SA-35 or find yourself struggling a bit to quickly pick up a sight picture, perhaps a small upgrade is in order. XS Sights recently released their XS R3D night sights for the SA-35 pistol, and today we’ll be taking a quick gander at them on the SA-35 to see what kind of benefits they offer over the standard sights Springfield currently offers.

Concealed Carry Corner: "Good Enough" Gear

Every week I sit down and look at the number of topics I have written down for the Concealed Carry Corner articles. One thing that blows me away is seeing the vast differences between people willing to upgrade every aspect of their carry pistol on one end, and on the other people not spending money and continuing to use the same gear they have for years. These are two very different ways to look at carrying a concealed firearm but each attitude has its merits. Whatever side you agree with, it’s always interesting to look at what is considered good enough gear.

TFB Review: ANR Design's New Link Sling

Throughout my years of shooting, there’ve been a few things that people purchase a number of times before settling on the product that works best for them. Holsters are typically the item people think about but another shooting product that takes time to find are rifle slings as well. Throughout the years, I have gone through a number of slings and found a number of features I really like and some I dislike when it comes to a good rifle sling. The most recent purchase takes a number of features I like in slings and combined them into one modular unit. Let’s take a closer look at the ANR Design’s New Link Sling.

Concealed Carry Corner: Smaller Isn't Always Better

With summertime hitting the Northeast and Midwest states full force this week, there’s no better time to look at carrying smaller guns. Individuals who live in the great north have lost their security blanket of layered clothing and heavy coats with the rush of hot summer weather. For most, the general trend is to carry the smallest handgun possible in an effort to make carrying more comfortable. There’s no denying that carrying a smaller pistol does make life easier in the hot summer months, but there are also disadvantages to really small carry guns. Let’s take a closer look at why smaller isn’t always better when it comes to carrying a concealed firearm.

TFB Review: FirstSpear Wind Cheater and Halifax Jackets

Most shooters going to the range, tend to look at the weather report before hitting the range. Depending on how bad you have a gun addiction, you may fall into this category as well. For me, I’m like a gun crackhead looking for his fix and I will go to the range whether it’s rain or sunshine. I kept sinking more and more money into firearms because that’s my addiction, but after a few really miserable range sessions in the wind and rain, I started looking for some quality lightweight jackets I can throw on while I shoot. I decided to pick up a few different coats from FirstSpear and after a few months of owning them, I have finally had enough time with both to give a full review to you guys. Let’s take a closer look at the FirstSpear Wind Cheater and Halifax Jackets.

In the world of quality gear, there are a number of choices when it comes to high-quality boots for all-weather use. There’s no shortage of quality Goretex lined boots that offer support and are built to keep water out as much as possible. Back in January of 2021, I wrote about the Salomon Spu Sponte MKIII s which is the heavier all-weather boot. This time I wanted a lighter boot for summertime that acted more like a gym shoe. I ended up picking Salomon’s newest model and gave them a whirl. Let’s take a closer look at the Salomon’s New Speed Assault 2 boots.
