If you’re looking to hone in your accuracy for this year’s fall hunting season, you might want to look into this new offering from Grizzly Targets. Grizzly Targets is now offering what they call the Double Vital Hunting Target. The steel target is made of 3/8″ thick AR500 steel and provides shooters with two “vital” reactive target areas to shoot at.

Over the last few years, one of the most interesting accessories developed for Heckler & Koch’s venerable roller-delayed weapons is the Spuhr Stock. Developed by Swedish firearms inventor and toolmaker Håkan Spuhr, the Spuhr Stock offers a more comfortable and adjustable stock in place of the factory butt used on Heckler & Koch’s classic 7.62x51mm battle rifle.

Owners of Glock 48 and Glock 43X pistols take note: Taran Tactical has developed new basepads for the Shield Arms Magazines. The product will add 5 extra rounds of 9x19mm to your magazine, for a maximum of 20+1 rounds.

In a market flooded with attachments and accessories for ARs, it’s hard to find pieces that make a difference. For years I was using Bravo Company’s KAG grip and overall it’s great value for the money. For $20, you get a fairly tough hand stop for your AR that can handle a fair amount of punishment without any issues. I was checking out a video online and saw an updated version of Dan Brokos’s hand stop and ultimately decided to order one. I’ve been using one for the last 3-4 months and figured it’s time to give it a proper shakedown. Let’s check out the LFT Brokos Brace Hand Stop from Dan Brokos of Lead Faucet Tactical.

The Taurus TX22 has been a hit with rimfire shooters since its release back in 2019. TFBTV presenter Hop has also reviewed the TX22 and shared his thoughts on the 22LR 16 shot pistol. Taurus has now introduced the Viridian Essential Red Laser Sight for the TX22 which has been specifically designed for the pistol as a concealed carry companion. The new offering is part of Viridians E-Series of weapon-mounted lasers.

Introduced at SHOT Show 2020, the new Inforce Wild2 handgun light is now available for purchase. This is a 1913/Picatinny and Glock rail compatible light that has an aluminum housing and 1000 lumen output with up to 1.5 hours of run time. The company describes this new product as a culmination of “years of listening, learning, and product development” and as a light that “combines traditional Inforce styling with best-in-class durability, a studied optimal-blend of throw and spill, and convenient activation by users with small and large hands alike“.

High Speed Gear, Inc. (HSGI) produces some of the most popular shooting-related accessories in the business. From belts to bags, holsters, chest rigs, plate carriers and more, if you’re looking for a piece of gun gear there’s a decent chance they make something you could use. The products for which High Speed Gear is best known, however, are their TACO pouches. These mag pouches are used by warfighters, competitive shooters, and plenty of others. Last year HSGI was contracted to supply the US military with more than 30,000 TACO pouches in conjunction with Heckler & Koch’s fulfillment of the Army’s SDMR (Squad Designated Marksman Rifle) contract.

Boyds Gunstocks has been in the firearms industry for nearly four decades, since their founding in 1981. The South Dakota-based shop specializes in aftermarket rifle and shotgun stocks made out of a variety of hardwoods. They have amassed an impressive amount of expertise in this niche over the years, and today they can make stocks for a massive array of different firearms from a list of over two hundred supported manufacturers. From Adams Arms to Zavasta and in between, they’ve got your wood stock needs covered. They can even outfit some old-school or obscure makes and models, like JC Penney and Sears (yes, they used to sell guns – many moons ago!) with replacement wood. You can even have them outfit your modern AR-15 with wood furniture, with brands like BCM, Knight’s Armament, and Spike’s Tactical on the options list.

Galco Gunleather has often been at the forefront of this year’s new firearm releases. This time they’ve taken the old and mated it with the modern by introducing a new holster that is compatible with 1911’s that are equipped with red dot optics. The new 1911 Holster is on sale now and is only $49 from Galco’s website.

By now most shooters are familiar with the major players in the weapon light game. Surefire set the standard, Modlite and Cloud Defensive continue to push the envelope, Streamlight offers viable budget-friendly alternatives, and a host of other manufacturers position themselves at various levels of the market. Pistol lights are one area that has seen increasing use and demand in recent years, as more people than ever are opting to outfit their defensive or duty handguns with an integrated source of illumination. While some buyers opt for lights like Surefire’s X300-U that extend beyond the gun’s muzzle, others value a more compact form factor like Streamlight’s TLR series, some of which include a visible laser. Now with the following press release a lesser-known company, Nightstick, has announced their own entry into the compact pistol light/laser race with the introduction of their rechargeable TSM-11G. When packing for the range, it can oftentimes become a real pain trying to fit all your gear into one or two bags when you have to take out multiple guns for long term testing without packing everything but the kitchen sink. About six months ago I started looking for a new range bag that wouldn’t scream tactical but would be big enough to take a good amount of gear with the ability to stay relatively small.

Houston, Texas-based Comp-Tac Victory Gear had already been producing a variety of holster types, as well as other gun-related gear, for many years before they were purchased by HSGI in 2017. Since this merger, they have continued to expand their product lines and offer continually growing holster support for new handguns as the market’s demand directs. With Smith & Wesson’s pistol product lines experiencing ongoing growth, the need for new S&W-compatible holsters never seems to cease. After last year’s release of the M&P9 Shield EZ, as well as its upgraded Performance Center version, yet another new holster need was born. Comp-Tac got to work on it, and now with the following August 2020 press release, they have announced that five of their holster models will now include fit options for the M&P9 Shield EZ.

Viridian Weapon Technologies has been in the weapon-mounted laser business for just shy of a decade and a half. In that time they’ve expanded their product lines to offer numerous other gun accessories as well, including a laser-integrated AR hand stop, holsters, and more. They’re also currently poised for additional future innovations based on a burgeoning partnership with gunsmithing tool shop Real Avid. Other than their lasers, one of Viridian’s products that has been gaining in popularity lately is their FACT weapon-mounted camera. Given the challenges faced by modern law enforcement agencies, as well as the transparency and oversight demanded by the taxpaying public in many communities, this technology makes sense for many departments. Now with the following August 31st press release, Viridian has announced that the Nye County Sheriff’s Department has opted to get on board with the FACT as well. The release reads:

Last week, I wrote about various PDWs and there were a number of people asking about the Vertx bag I had in the background. I also had people ask about other types of carry bags that work well with carrying concealed for pistols and larger weapons as well. There are endless options for carrying and off-body carry. I can already hear the disdain from some of you, but its ok if people carry in different ways than you, trust me it’ll be ok. I’ll go through three different bags I’ve used but these are typically the three most popular styles of bags for concealed carriers. Let’s dive into three different carry bag options.

Viridian Weapon Technologies has been in business for a little over fourteen years. In that time, they have grown from offering a green aiming laser for pistol-mounted applications to providing a broad spectrum of weapon-mounted lasers and other accessories, as well as holsters and more. They recently made headlines here at TFB and elsewhere with their release of the first-ever laser-integrated hand stop.

Since 1969, Phoenix’s Galco Gunleather (originally from Chicago and called “The Famous Jackass Leather Company”) has produced a vast spectrum of shooting accoutrements. From holsters to concealed carry purses and fanny packs to med kits, their products offer something for nearly everyone who carries. If you do carry a firearm, its typically a good idea to pack some extra ammo.

Horyzen Tactical is an Australian company based in Melbourne, Victoria. They specialize in creating Kydex holders for magazines, and other shooting accessories. Horyzen Tactical have recently released their first pistol magazine carrier called the Universal 9/40.

Plenty of shooting-related endeavors can benefit from, or in some cases require, the use of long-distance glass. Sometimes spotting scopes fit the bill, but other times what you really need is a binocular. As we draw closer to the hunting season, binoculars are certainly something to consider for your fall deer-chasing loadout. And while most of us would like to have a higher-end set, that’s not always in a hunter’s budget – or it may be that an inexpensive bino is simply more appropriate for your hunting/shooting situation. In this case, Bushnell has you covered. In an August 7th press release, they have announced that the new Powerview 2 series of binoculars is shipping now. The release reads as follows.

Vision enhancement technologies like thermal and night vision used to be like wizardry to the vast majority of civilian shooters. These borderline magical, mythical devices were almost never seen by those outside the military or some law enforcement agencies, much less actually used or owned. Today, much of that has changed. Now civilian night vision goggle ownership has become far more accessible and common among shooting enthusiasts, and less cost prohibitive than it used to be. Beyond just being fun, the practical applications of these tools are particularly valuable among hunters. Certain pest animals like feral hogs and coyotes can devastate hunting grounds and disrupt agriculture, and in many places, it’s perfectly legal to hunt these menaces at night. In days past, the only way to accomplish this was by virtue of visible lights, which almost invariably spook nocturnal animals and make night hunting more difficult. But with the proliferation of products like commercial-spec PVS-14s and AGM thermal monoculars, low-light firearms work is more accessible than ever.

Stop. Laser time. Viridian have introduced what they believe to be the world’s very first hand stop which incorporates an integrated laser system – the HS1. The Viridian HS1 hand stop laser is compatible with the popular M-LOK attachment system and has a daytime-visible green laser. It has a 1.5-hour constant use battery life and an MSRP of $179.

Holster maker N8 Tactical began as a two-man experiment in 2009, with the “N8” being a riff on the two founders both being named Nate. Having been dissatisfied with other options on the market at the time, friends Nate Beard and Nate Johnson decided to come together to see if they could build a better mousetrap – in this case, the “mousetrap” being a concealed carry holster. The focus was comfort; Beard and Johnson set out to develop an option for concealed carry that prevented corners and edges from jabbing them in the side or stomach all day. For this purpose, most of their products feature a large backing panel (think Crossbreed, which is owned by the same parent company) made of leather, suede, and neoprene that sits between you and your gun. However, N8 has announced a divergence from this pattern in a July 30th press release. Meet the KO-1, their first all-Kydex IWB holster.

Welcome back to another Featured Deals of the Week. Prices are high, a good deal is rare, and I’m out here trying to find whatever I can to get you guys to take out those wallets. So without any further ado, let’s get into it.

Anytime you have a gathering of gun guys, you’ll almost certainly find that they’re also into all the other gear and gadgets that go along with firearms. For many shooting enthusiasts, that gear includes nylon-type products such as plate carriers, mag pouches, IFAK pouches, and the like. Earlier this year, TFB reported on the introduction of Defense Mechanisms, a new player in the tactical nylon scene. With a strong emphasis on customizability, Defense Mechanisms has come out swinging with a modular plate carrier system and a modular placard/pouch line, among their other products like rifle slings and ankle medical rigs. Far from resting on their laurels, in the wake of their significant initial release Defense Mechanisms has just announced several additions to their product offerings. You can now expand your Mission Essential Plate Carrier’s capabilities with new side plate bags, zippered full pocket and half pocket placard components, and single pistol mag pouches.

There’s hardly a shooter anywhere who doesn’t know and love Magpul. From their wildly popular PMAG line of magazines, polymer stocks and other gun furniture, series of rifle slings and flip sights, and much more, they have spent their 21-year history becoming the first word in firearms accessories. One critical shooting accessory that sits on you rather than on your weapon is a quality set of eye protection. Your eyes are incredibly important organs and the shooting sports introduce inherent dangers to them. Good eye pro is an absolute must – and no, not just any old pair of sunglasses will do. They need to be ballistic rated so if you do experience some sort of spall or ricochet, the wayward fragment speeding toward your face at high speed won’t simply smash through your non-ballistic lens and shred your precious oculus anyway. You need the right face shield.

Over the years I have seen several pictures of rifles on tripods, and finally, the temptation grew to get my own system. With some money to burn, I still wanted to keep the budget fairly low. I also wanted something light, so I decided to look for solutions made in carbon fiber. The tripod I was looking for was going to be used for cameras, spotting scopes and rifles. The choice fell on the INNOREL RT90C, which I bought from the INNOREL Official store on Amazon. The price was roughly $300.

With the tremendous popularity of SIG Sauer’s P320 and its adoption by a host of law enforcement agencies and military units, as well as plenty of civilians, the ever-growing demand for weaponlight and light-bearing holster support only makes sense. One popular light option for these handguns is Streamlight’s TLR-7/8 series. These lights provide a compact form factor, a menu of side and high or low rear switch options, and the availability of either red or green visible laser-equipped models in addition to the light-only versions. Now with a July 24th press release, Blackhawk has announced an expansion of their holster line to provide P320 and TLR-7/8 users with new Level 2 and Level 3 Duty options. The release reads:

Hearing protection: it’s a big deal in any kind of shooting endeavor. For many years it’s been well-known that too many dBs battering your eardrums can cause permanent damage, including hearing loss and tinnitus. Suppressors can help, but if you’re going to the range then quality ear pro is absolutely a must-have. While simple foam buds or basic over-the-ear muffs typically work fine, some shooters prefer the added benefits offered by electronic options. Some models include smart technology that will amplify quieter sounds like speech, while dampening loud noise like gunshots. Others can fold in bluetooth capabilities, for communication purposes or to pipe in some music. With a July 23rd press release, the Michigan-based hearing defenders at Pro Ears have announced pre-order availability for a new electronic in-ear option: the Stealth Elite earbuds. Since its founding in 1993, Texas-based TRUGLO has developed an extensive product catalog. Although they are probably best known in the firearms world for their tritium and fiber optic handgun sights, they also offer a plethora of other items for hunting, archery, and more. From a variety of scopes and red dots to shotgun choke tubes, splatter targets, and bowfishing accessories, TRUGLO brings a plethora of sporting and outdoor solutions to the table. One such product line is their Tac-Pod adjustable bipod series. With MSRPs ranging from $35-$60, these are an inexpensive alternative to the industry’s more top-shelf options, many of which can go for considerably more money. Now with a July 15th press release, TRUGLO is introducing two new additions to their bipod menu: a “Carbon Pro” version available in short (6″-9″) and long (9″-13″) lengths.

For the majority of shooters, most get the idea of regular maintenance when it comes to your carry gun and even ammunition. One thing that is often forgotten is the idea of maintaining your holster whether it’s Kydex or leather. It’s easy to skip over or forget entirely the importance of caring for the one thing that keeps your firearm attached to your body. Whether it’s a Kydex holster or a hand-stitched leather, it’s important to care for your gear to keep everything in the best shape possible.
