Flashlights and firearms are inextricably connected. Weapon-mounted lights are often affixed to AR-15s, pistol-caliber carbines, sub guns, defensive shotguns, pistols, and more. Many handgun carriers also carry standalone flashlights, either instead of weapon lights, or sometimes even in addition to them. Light manufacturers are always coming out with new and improved models that offer more lumens, greater candela, or other benefits. Since their founding in 1973, Streamlight has spent nearly a half-century growing into a leading supplier of these illuminating tools. Now with a July 14th announcement, they have introduced the latest addition to their law enforcement-focused offerings: the new Duty-Ready Stinger 2020. Read the full press release below.

Shooting is a loud endeavor. Unless you’re using an extremely low-decibel setup like a suppressed .22, ear pro is a must. The consequences for failing to guard your ears against a firearm’s report can include tinnitus or other permanent hearing damage. Walker’s has been in the hearing protection business for over 25 years, and produces some highly-regarded electronic solutions. With a July 14th press release, they have announced the next iteration of this endeavor: the Raptor bone conduction headset. The press release reads as follows.

Firearms usage and medical preparedness go hand in hand. Whether you’re enjoying a casual range day, hunting, shooting competitively, or carrying a concealed handgun in your everyday life, unfortunately mishaps can and do happen from time to time. Many shooting organizations and competitive bodies are increasingly encouraging or requiring their members and participants to include some form of trauma medical kit in their gear lists. Smartwatches are everywhere these days. All across the US, it’s hard to leave your home without seeing someone with an Apple Watch or Samsung Galaxy Watch on their wrist. While these pieces of wearable tech may have good applicability in day-to-day life, the uses for shooting have been a bit more limited – until now. Garmin has taken their Tactix Delta smartwatch and partnered on a version with Applied Ballistics, and it’s also solar-powered. In a July 8th press release, they say:

Let’s face it, during the summer months, carrying a gun can get a little hot and uncomfortable at times. Naturally during this, the body will sweat and your gun may have sweat on it after a long day of carrying it concealed. It’s not a big deal if it only happens once in a while, but if the handgun isn’t cleaned regularly, it can start to erode the finish off and develop surface rust. Tikka rifles are used by accomplished shooters in disciplines varying from big-game hunting to long-range competition shooting. Tyrant Designs is a manufacturer of high-quality US Made CNC machined AR-15 and handgun upgrades and accessories. Recently they sent me out a pair of their Glock 43X & 48 +4 Magazine extensions. When it comes to magazine extensions the deciding vote on whether they’re quality extensions or not usually comes down to how well they function with the gun. In addition to that metric, I will also go over how they change the carry experience in comparison to the standard capacity magazines.

Spartan Precision Equipment are about to launch their new tactical, lightweight bipod – the V2. Made from CNC machined 7075 aluminium and top-quality carbon fibre, the V2 bipod weighs in at 373g or just over 13oz.

While “Buying Holsters for Dummies” isn’t a book yet, it should be. The holster is the everlasting companion of the handgun. Many of you no doubt have probably purchased a handgun fairly recently and with good reason. In these uncertain times, it is paramount that we are ready and able to defend ourselves and our loved ones from all threats both at home and out in the world. Handguns are a great defensive tool to have on hand when they’re needed but selecting the right gear for the job can be just as important.

Sharps Bros published on their social media pages pictures of a 3D printed prototype of what will eventually become an aluminum grip and Picatinny rail compatible stock adapter for Thompson/Center Contender rifles and pistols.

Over the last few years, my preferences have changed from Glock’s modularity to the P320 and its overall options for customization. Last week, I looked at the new RXP XCompact and the overall evolution of a factory SIG 320, but what about the aftermarket community?  The Glock community had an explosion in aftermarket parts as it became more popular and it created a cycle of new customers purchasing Glocks to build them exactly how they wanted them. I purchased my first Glock 19 for this reason but the P320 is different.

There is no denying, the last few weeks have been a little odd around the world. Normal daily practices like going out to dinner or hitting the range on a free day, have completely stopped. The number one complaint with shooters in my area is the lack of open ranges. Here in Michigan, most of the public ranges and indoor ranges have been shut down for public safety, so it really is difficult to find an accessible place to shoot if you don’t have private land.

Hello ladies and germs and welcome back to another featured deals of the week. I’m your host Benjamin F, and this week’s theme is “anything that will get me out of the house oh dear god I am going stir crazy in here.”

Over the last 6 months, I have been using and abusing the Haley Strategic SBR Thorntail2 mount with my Surefire Scout rifle light. I’ve owned this light for the last few years with the factory mount and overall I really like the light but hated the factory mount. Putting the Scout on something like my PWS MK116 Mod 2 created issues since it has a muzzle brake and would carbon the light up every magazine since it was so close to the muzzle. Putting the Scout on my short-barreled 308 only made the carbon and abuse even worse. I have used the original Thorntail on my 10.5 AR pistol for the last year and a half so I figured I would give the new one a shot. Let’s dive into the nitty-gritty of this low profile light mount.

Notice there are two cross sections that also came with the light marked P and U. P again stands for Picatinny and U stands for Universal. I chose the universal and it worked well for my Glock 19 lower. Add the crossbar as shown and press the mount into place.
