Griffin Armament Announces New SR-RIGID M-LOK Rails

Griffin Armament is best known for their silencers. They’ve been putting out quality cans since their founding in 2006, and many of their models have enjoyed significant success. From their versatile Bushwacker 46, the user-configurable Optimus, their 30SD-K model, the modular Resistance 22 rimfire can, to their new GP-N A2-mountable can, and many more, Griffin usually has at least one suppressor, if not multiple options, capable of filling virtually any role for which you might need a can.

TNVC and FCD's New Cable Management Panels

TNVC, or the Tactical Night Vision Company, has been an industry leader in the field of night vision and related shooting gear and accessories for about the last decade, as well as offering low-light/no-light training classes. They’ve come out with some excellent products of their own, like the Mohawk helmet attachment series and the PBM-A dual PVS-14 powered bridge mount. A few months ago, in January, they also put on vSHOTT, an all-online mini stand-in for the cancelled 2021 SHOT Show. They’re no stranger to collaborative product work, either, having previously partnered with companies like Steiner on the TOR-Mini laser, Unity Tactical on the TAPS dual pressure switch, L3 on the civilian version of the PEQ-15 IR laser/illuminator, and more.

Tac Shield Introduces a New 2-Point Padded Sling

I’ve come to appreciate slings a lot more in recent months, mostly due to some training I was fortunate to receive during Gun Fest 2021. Now that I’ve learned how to properly use it, I see it as more of a tool rather than just a piece of fabric to help keep the rifle attached to you. Tac Shield has just introduced their new 2-Point Padded Sling for 2021.

Heatsync Hearing Protection Covers from Noisefighters

If you shoot unsuppressed, you’ve got to wear hearing protection. Even with a suppressor, sometimes depending on the specific can and host, it can still be needed. Other than using silencers to protect your hearing, there are two basic types of ear pro, each with its own pros and cons: in-ear and over-ear.  You might prefer the fit, feel, and function of over-ear muff-style options. Muffs can be great but do come with some challenges. One of these, particularly during long range sessions, and especially outdoors in warmer temperatures, is sweat/heat retention. Thankfully, Noisefighters has come up with a solution: the new Heatsync ear pro covers.

The Rimfire Report: The 3 Best Accessories/Mods to Add to Your 10/22

Hello and welcome back to another edition of  The Rimfire Report! This series is all about rimfire firearms, ammunition, sports, and pretty much everything else rimfire-related. The Ruger 10/22 is one of the most if not the most popular rimfire rifles on the market today. While it may not be the most accurate, the lightest, or maybe even the coolest, the humble 10/22 is an almost ubiquitous firearm in the gun community for its popularity alone. Today we’ll be going over my 3 best accessories/mods for your 10/22 rifle, carbine, or pistol.

Recall Alert: Thunder Beast Ultra Gen2 and Dominus Suppressors

Any firearms-related recall is always unfortunate. Companies typically invest a significant amount of time, effort, and resources into their products’ research and development. They want to do all they can to ensure that by the time their product heads out the door into the waiting hands of distributors, retailers, and customers, it’s been well-made and thoroughly tested. Thunder Beast Arms Corporation, or TBAC for short, is no different. They’ve been putting plenty of sweat equity and passion into their suppressors for years, and normally have solid results. Unfortunately, occasionally things can and do go wrong for all of us, and one of those snafus has hit TBAC. If you have one of their Dominus or Ultra Gen2 cans that was manufactured last year, please be sure to read the following recall announcement that was just released, and check your silencer’s serial number.

Viridian E-Series Green Laser Sight Now Available for Ruger-57 Pistol

The Ruger-57 pistol has been out on the market now for a little over a year and it seems that supply has finally started to catch up with the demand on these 5.7x28mm pistols. Viridian is the first company to my knowledge that has come out with a dedicated laser aiming system for the Ruger-57. Viridian Weapon Tech is well known for its E-Series green and red lasers which are designed with concealed carriers in mind. The question is, will you be able to find a holster that can accommodate the laser along with the pistol.

3D Printing Provides Hydration Weapon Attachment Solutions

We all know the importance of proper hydration. H2O is a life-giving chemical compound, without which the human body can’t survive. It only takes a matter of days without new liquid hydrogen oxide intake for your organs to start failing. Death by dehydration is a gruesome way to go, and exacerbating factors like heat and physical activity or sweating can accelerate the problem. Any experienced shooter knows that if you’re going to an outdoor shooting range, taking a training class, going out on a hunt, or engaging in other active pursuits around the shooting sports, make sure to have plenty of water! But what if you want a different refreshing beverage, one that comes in a can or a bottle? Though alcohol and shooting are inadvisable (despite what you may have heard about family reunions/Christmas celebrations/children’s birthday parties in Texas), wouldn’t it be useful to quickly and conveniently access your favorite flavor of La Croix or pop the cap on a Topo Chico? Fortunately, thanks to the magic of 3D printing, the Etsy storefront PrintedLifeShop has some solutions for you.

Garfield "Rear" Sight: The Worst Gun Accessory Ever?

“You may live to see man-made horrors beyond your comprehension”. This quote (though unconfirmed) has been historically attributed to Nikola Tesla, from way back in 1898. I don’t recall ever reading reports that Tesla could actually see the future or travel into it, but now I suspect that this may have been the case. It seems highly likely that his dread warning of future horrors must almost certainly have been in reference to this exact item. That’s right, ladies and gentlemen: some disturbed denizen of the Gunternet’s darkest corners has produced what may very well be the most disconcerting, unnerving, horrifying gun-related item ever to exist. Your eyes do not deceive you. In that cover image, you are looking at an iron sight manufactured to look like… *sigh*, there’s really no way to put this tactfully… like Garfield the cartoon cat’s asshole. I’ll take “Heinous Phrases I Never Thought Would Have To Be Written” for $800, Alex.

Bump Stock Decision Reversed by Sixth Circuit

Buckle up, buckaroos. We’ve got some dense legalese to get through today. On March 25, 2021, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, in a 2-1 decision, reversed and remanded a lower court decision that denied a preliminary injunction against the ATF’s enforcement of the bump stock ban. I know that many of you are thinking the same thing that I had thought. Wait, what? I thought the whole bump stock ban thing was already over and done? A done deal, set in stone, lost and never to return. But it appears this is not the case, so without any further ado, let’s get into the meat of the matter.

WireGuide Cable Management System from Arson Machine Co.

If you run a light on a long gun, odds are you’ve wrestled with cable management issues before. Although these headaches can be circumvented by only using a clicky tailcap, or buying a Cloud Defensive OWL, these types of solutions won’t work for every gun or every shooter. Sometimes, you just need a remote switch – and that means cables. In the past, keeping your wires in place has often meant using velcro, tape, or zip ties. Unfortunately, most of these cobbled-together setups come with their own problems. Cloud Defensive’s REIN weaponlight actually provides a solid cable management solution built right into their remote switch’s mount. However, in most cases and with most other makes/models of lights, additional routing/securing hardware would be exceedingly useful in preventing snags or damage to your light’s wiring. Enter Arson Machine Co., with their WireGuide cable management system.

The Ryker Method – A Biomechanically Optimized Shooting Method

While I was at The Gathering at the Sawmill event in South Carolina, I was able to speak with the owner of Ryker. Ryker has developed a novel shooting method dubbed the “Ryker Method” which aims to reduce fatigue on the shooter and provide a more natural shooting position when interfacing with their weapon. Ron Holmes, the inventor and President of Ryker, came up with the concept of the Ryker Grip (also known as the FIST grip) and Ryker Sling in order to aid him while shooting with an injured shoulder.

TFB Review: The REIN Weaponlight from Cloud Defensive

It wasn’t long ago that if you wanted a light on your rifle, it was SureFire or nothing. With their company history stretching back nearly a half-century and key innovations in weapon-mounted flashlights beginning as early as the 1980s, it’s not hard to see why they were the kings of this particular hill for so long. In recent years, however, the market for tactical illumination has exploded. Usage and demand have soared, and as a result, many younger companies have arisen to challenge the SureFire giant. While this process has given us a veritable ocean of lesser products, it has also featured some phenomenal lights from other manufacturers. While SureFire still offers many excellent weaponlights, they no longer sit alone on the top shelf of this realm. For my money and from my experience, two companies, in particular, have emerged as the most capable direct SureFire long gun light competitors, in the majority of applications: the PLH and OKW models from Modlite, and the OWL and REIN lights from Cloud Defensive.

Concealed Carry Corner: Concealed Carry For Women

With International Women’s Day being this week, I figured it would be an appropriate time to talk about carrying concealed for women and some of their struggles. There’s an old saying that says “God made men, Colt made them equal”. This saying is even more true for women and over the last decade, there has been an increase in women carrying concealed firearms for self defense. The firearms market is dominated by males and because of that, the majority of products are designed with a man’s body structure in mind. Some women have real struggles in finding the right firearm and gear for themselves. Let’s dive into the struggles of concealed carry for women.

TFB Review: B&T Industries Atlas Bipods and a Quick Guide to Attachments

Choosing the right bipod and having a perfect height set just before a stage is quite often the key to success in a competition. One bipod isn’t enough to do everything you’re likely to require from it over a few stages. Shooting practical rifle and precision rifle competitions (in my case mainly IPSC, PRS and hybrids between these) for more than 10 years has “given” me quite a collection of bipods. I have stayed away from the “cheap and risky” ones, but there are a few from B&T Industries, Magpul and Harris to chose from at home. Some I have modified to suit my needs better. I even have one set with what used to be ski poles that can be used to shoot standing.

Not Your Average Rubber Band: The New Strike Bang Band

Rubber bands serve many purposes, including powering some very cool “firearms”. Some jobs are even exclusively for rubber bands, like on a tattooing machine or launching small pieces of paper at your math teacher. Our elastic companions have also been used for several purposes in the gun world. Shooters use them to retain slings, keep thigh straps in place, and for cable management. To fill the same roles, while doing a better job, Strike Industries has just released the Strike Bang Band.

Train for the Worst – Type3MalfunctionRound

If you regularly shoot a modern, decent quality handgun, type 3 malfunctions (commonly known as a double feed) are not so common. In fact, I’ve only experienced one in the past three years. However, if that one had occurred during a life or death situation, I could be writing to you from beyooooond the graaaave! Malfunction clearing needs to practiced, and practiced often. LiveFire Tactical Training, LLC has devised a way to practice clearing the dreaded double feed. This is the Type3MalfunctionRound.

Bear Hyde Introduces New Ultralight Carbon Fiber Gun Cases

Firearms storage and transport solutions run the full gamut, from mild to wild. Some shooters are fine tossing their guns in the back of a vehicle unprotected. Others may employ an abundance of caution in babying their beloved safe queens and will lament even the slightest spot of discoloration on a weapon’s finish. Most of us fall somewhere in between, with certain guns getting a bit more care paid to them, and others existing closer to the “beater gun” or “truck gun” side of the spectrum. Commonly, the level of shielding we provide our weapons is going to depend largely on the situation. For short car rides with a smaller equipment load, many times a decent soft case may be sufficient. However, for longer travel or with more gear, a more protective hard shell case is often necessary. In particular, if you’re going to fly with a firearm, a quality hard case is essentially an absolute must. For years, Pelican has served as the gold standard for hard cases in the firearms world. Although there are certainly other options, most other gun case makes and models tend to scale back from the Pelican level, offering decreased toughness and weight in exchange for lower price points. However, now one new company, Bear Hyde, is looking to go upscale. See their introductory press release, copied below.

[TFB GUNFEST] Blue Force Gear Sling Class – After-Action Report

For many shooters, the simple rifle sling tends to be an oft-forgotten or somewhat ignored piece of kit. Although we typically have and use them, they don’t get paid nearly as much attention as flashier or pricier gear. Plenty of Gunternet dwellers can’t wait to Instagram fancy new optics, suppressors, plate carriers, night vision equipment, and the like, but the humble sling? Meh. Just slap a piece of fabric on the gun, casually drape it over your shoulder, and move on, right? Wrong. A well-designed, well-made, and properly set up sling can offer much greater benefit and functionality than first meets the eye. Would you be surprised if I told you it can actually improve your shooting? Many would be.
