The Ruger SR22 is an affordable and fun little 22-caliber plinker that’s been around for over a decade now. However, the residents of California have not typically been able to purchase these fun little handguns due to not being on the infamous California Roster – something that pretty much never changes. However, for all of my fellow firearms friends directly to my south, I’m happy to report that this has just changed – the Ruger SR22 has finally made its way onto the approved list of handguns that can be sold in California. This new California Compliant Ruger SR22 will be available exclusively through Sports South, a fairly large online firearms wholesale and distributor that serves the nation through its home base in Shreveport, Louisiana.

KE Arms has just announced the introduction of the new 20 Inch WWSD Complete Upper. This new upper configuration combines a lot of the same aspects you’d find in the 16″ version, but with a barrel length that really gives the 5.56 NATO cartridge some extra legs. Back at NRAAM 2023, TFBTV’s Hop and I had a chance to check out the subtly launched Anderson Manufacturing AM15 Dissipator Carbine. The Anderson Dissipator carbine was an unexpected hit at the Primary Arms Range Day 2023, and NRAAM 2023 with, Hop, myself, and a couple of other writers having a blast running magazine after magazine through the retro-inspired rifle. C&H Precision, probably equally as well known now for its new line of optics as its firearms, has announced its decision to expand its operations in Bryan County, GA, with a new state-of-the-art manufacturing and headquarters facility. Benelli USA have announced a limited edition version of their Lupo bolt-action rifle dubbed Lupo KAOS. Matrix Arms entered the handgun market about a year ago with the release of their MX19 line of Glock 19 parts-compatible pistols. The main feature that sets the MX19 pistols apart from other handguns on the market that use G19 parts is the machined aluminum frame. The company has just announced a new competition version of their MX series of handguns called Matrix Arms MXI which is a Glock 34 size pistol that also has a metal frame, except made of steel.

Adopted by the Russian military in 2018, the AK-12 rifle has since gone through several revisions that resulted in some design changes such as the replacement of the AR15-style stock and the introduction of the one-piece polymer pistol grip/trigger guard. Kalashnikov Concern recently published information about the latest 2023 upgrades of the AK-12 rifle that were requested by the Russian military based on the feedback from the Russo-Ukrainian War. These design changes are apparently not significant enough to give the rifle a new model name, so it’s referred to as the AK-12 model of 2023.

FN Herstal have announced that their optronics subsidiary, based in Oulu, Finland, has expanded its production capacity with a $1.2 million investment. Noptel is the subsidiary responsible for the development of FN’s fire control unit for 40mm grenade launchers and the new Elity ballistic calculator. The Noptel facility has expanded to 620 square meters and has the capacity to increase the number of workstations. Noptel has also hired more technicians.

The trend of modernizing and updating the lever-action gun is seriously starting to take off with all sorts of great aftermarket parts that allow the attachment of virtually any type of accessory to your favorite lever gun. Midwest Industries has just announced their latest M-LOK handguard for Rossi and Winchester lever-action firearms. This new handguard like others in the lever-gun series is made from the 6061 hard coat anodized aluminum and features plenty of M-LOK sections for mounting accessories.

Expanding their line of stripped pistol slides, Brownells have added options for full-size and compact SIG Sauer P320 pistols. The worst part about any range trip for me is setting up and taking down everything. When TFBTV’s Hop and I go to shoot, it usually involves several steel targets and several paper targets. Over time, we’ve learned to streamline our gear down to be more efficient but bulk and weight are still always an issue and that’s why Re-Nine Safety’s new Compact Target Stands piqued my interest. Their new 1×2 Compact Target Stands are made to work with common 18″ wide cardboard targets and fold down into a compact package for transport and quick setup.

Short guns are all the rage these days. Small firearms are great in some specific applications but generally speaking, there are some sacrifices that need to be made. One of these issues is that with a shorter barrel, there’s less real estate for your support hand. This, paired with sometimes productive muzzle devices, and muzzle blast can become an issue. There aren’t many smaller PDW-style guns than the Strike Industries Strike Modular Chassis. Nosler entered the silencer market at the beginning of 2022 when they released their SR family of hunting rifle suppressors. The company is now expanding its suppressor product line and has just introduced the new SR-30 K or Nosler K-Can 30-caliber silencer (K stands for the German word kurz which means short). The new Nosler K-Can is essentially a shorter and lighter version of the Nosler SR-30AlTi suppressor.
