The Marlin 1894 returns! Ruger have reintroduced the classic Marlin 1894. Chambered in .44 Rem Mag, the new 1894 Classic sports a beautifully-finished American black walnut straight stock and forend. The rifle is made from alloy steel and has a 20 inch cold hammer-forged barrel. The rifle’s tubular magazine that will hold 10 rounds of .44 Magnum ammunition, or 11 rounds of .44 Special.

Polymers have done a lot for the advancement of firearms technology. One area of this industry that was heavily impacted was the manufacture of magazines. Almost every firearm I own came with a polymer magazine. Additionally, almost every aftermarket magazine I purchase is made from the fantastic plastic. I’m always looking to add any advantage to my gear, even something consumable. Strike Industries is doing just that. They have just released Magazine Grip Inserts for their Strike AR Mags.

A federal judge has vacated the ATF Final Rule that changed the definition of what constitutes a firearm under federal law in the United States. I am going to leave the full legal analysis to someone more qualified such as our own Daniel Y., but the big takeaway here is that the U.S. Congress passes laws that agencies are entrusted to enforce, not to redefine as they deem appropriate. I’m a huge fan of shield-style eyewear for the range. It used to be the obsession to melt carry guns down so far for comfort, they lost all of their workability. In the past few years, I’ve seen the pendulum swing. Rock River Arms is the manufacturer of my absolute favorite two-stage trigger, the Rock River Arms Two-Stage National Match Trigger. Today they’ve announced an entirely new rifle to their lineup, the new BT3 Predator HP 6.5 Creedmoor Rifle. This new rifle is designed to be a precision semi-auto rifle built around the 6.5 Creedmoor cartridges rather than adjusted to make it work. The rifle will feature an adjustable two-stage trigger and a 24-inch fluted stainless steel cryo-treated barrel.

The HammerDown series of ammunition by Federal Premium is one of the few lines of ammunition specifically engineered to ensure superior cycling and overall effectiveness for lever-action rifles. In 2020, the Federal first introduced the HammerDown line, which now encompasses a range of choices including 357 Mag., 44 Mag., 30-30 Win., 45-70 Government, and others. Cerakote is by far the most popular firearm finish for everything ranging from high-end bolt-action hunting rifles, down to your EDC pistol. Cerakote provides an extra layer of durability not only in the form of abrasion resistance but also chemical and corrosion resistance. While it’s easy enough to do it at home, the process is time-consuming and can require specialized equipment for the finish to come out looking right. That’s why C&H Precision is excited to announce their new In-House Cerakote Services for pistol slides. While the company has traditionally focused on adapter plates and more recently optics, C&H is intending to offer the Cerakote service as an add-on service for just $60 in a number of basic colors.

Devil Dog Concepts came up with an AR-10 version of their Hard Charger AR-15 side charging handle. Like the Hard Charger, the new  Devil Dog Concepts HC-10 is a drop-in product that replaces the standard charging handle providing a left-side non-reciprocating charging handle while retaining the regular AR charging method.

Over the year I’ve really gotten addicted to trying out different types of firearm competitions. While I’ve dabbled in some of the more well-known competition spheres, USPSA, Multi-Gun, and Steel Challenge, I’ve also strayed off the beaten path and found something even better – ones that let you run around in expensive gear with your friends. One such race I’ve yet to try that falls into this category is the Wolverine 5K. Kalashnikov USA have added two new aluminum AK stocks to their KUSA Premium K-Series line of AK parts and accessories. Timney Triggers just added a new affordable option for the Remington 700 platform. The Impact 700 retails for $124.99 and has a non-adjustable pull weight of between 3 and 4 pounds. In October 2022, the Canadian government  announced that the SIG Sauer P320 will be replacing the iconic Browning HiPower which have been in service for nearly 80 years. The Canadian government will procure an initial batch of 7,000 pistols and holster systems for the Canadian Army.

Joining the new enclosed red dot craze is Viridian Weapon Tech with their new RFX45 enclosed green dot. While we’ve briefly covered it before when it was featured at SHOT Show 2023 ( shoutout to fellow writer Rusty S for the photos in this article), the Viridian RFX45 has finally been announced as available for order and shipping to customers.

The Ruger SR22 is an affordable and fun little 22-caliber plinker that’s been around for over a decade now. However, the residents of California have not typically been able to purchase these fun little handguns due to not being on the infamous California Roster – something that pretty much never changes. However, for all of my fellow firearms friends directly to my south, I’m happy to report that this has just changed – the Ruger SR22 has finally made its way onto the approved list of handguns that can be sold in California. This new California Compliant Ruger SR22 will be available exclusively through Sports South, a fairly large online firearms wholesale and distributor that serves the nation through its home base in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Grey Birch Manufacturing is excited to announce the latest addition to its quickly growing lineup of premium 10/22-style rifles. KE Arms has just announced the introduction of the new 20 Inch WWSD Complete Upper. This new upper configuration combines a lot of the same aspects you’d find in the 16″ version, but with a barrel length that really gives the 5.56 NATO cartridge some extra legs. The new configuration is centered around a 20-inch Ballistic Advantage lightweight Modern Series barrel but also comes complete with a lot of the neat lightweight features people loved from the original WWSD project. Back at NRAAM 2023, TFBTV’s Hop and I had a chance to check out the subtly launched Anderson Manufacturing AM15 Dissipator Carbine. The Anderson Dissipator carbine was an unexpected hit at the Primary Arms Range Day 2023, and NRAAM 2023 with, Hop, myself, and a couple of other writers having a blast running magazine after magazine through the retro-inspired rifle. Benelli USA have announced a limited edition version of their Lupo bolt-action rifle dubbed Lupo KAOS. What sets the Lupo KAOS apart from regular Lupo rifles of similar configuration is the custom Cerakote finish of the stock, receiver and barrel. The Beretta 1301 shotgun has been the talk of the town over the last year or so with a massive increase in popularity across the board. However, for a lot of people, buying their 1301 is just the first step, a lot of people want to mount optics, want extended tubes, or shotshell caddies. Matrix Arms entered the handgun market about a year ago with the release of their MX19 line of Glock 19 parts-compatible pistols. The main feature that sets the MX19 pistols apart from other handguns on the market that use G19 parts is the machined aluminum frame. The company has just announced a new competition version of their MX series of handguns called Matrix Arms MXI which is a Glock 34 size pistol that also has a metal frame, except made of steel.
