Dave Lauck, of DL Sports has been cranking out some new modifications for revolvers lately, some of which we’ve covered here at TFB. His latest projects include a newly contoured Enhanced Cylinder Release for Smith & Wesson wheelguns, as well as new Hard Use Sights for Ruger Redhawk and GP100 revolvers. The new Enhanced Cylinder Release is for use on S&W K, L, N, and X frame revolvers.

Back in September of 2022, the mad scientists at MDT built a bolt action rifle chambered in .308 Winchester that had a six-foot long barrel made by screwing together two barrels. As you can imagine, that’s not an easy task because you have to make sure that the lands and grooves of the two barrels align and form one continuous rifling in the bore. Not easy, but apparently not impossible. They then cut that barrel in one-inch increments firing rounds after cutting every section and recording the ballistic data. The goal was to find out the influence of the barrel length on the muzzle velocity. Well, MDT has recently  repeated the same experiment except now with a rimfire rifle chambered in .22LR and fitted with an almost four-foot barrel (46.5″) made by joining two 26″ barrels. Rifle Dynamics have announced a new series of AK rifles called Mark II which is based on their earlier released Quickhatch AK pistols. The main difference from their older rifle models is that instead of using standard AK lower handguards with UltiMAK railed gas tubes, the new Rifle Dynamics Mark II rifles are built with M-LOK aluminum handguards designed in collaboration with Occam Defense Solutions.

Creedmoor Sports continues to expand their lineup of reloading tools with the new Shoulder Datum Tool. When used with calipers, it can provide a comparative measurement of shoulder setback after sizing. This tool has six separate openings that allow measurements of 79 SAAMI calibers.

Having a grip toward the front of your handguard, if used properly, can add a lot of stability to your rifle while standing. Just the same, firing from the prone position or from a table, a bipod will take away a significant portion of your natural sway. Fierce Firearms have released a new 45-caliber bolt action muzzleloading rifle called  Carbon MZ PRO which is an improved version of their previous muzzleloaders. In bolt action muzzleloaders, the ignition element of the system (in this case Arrowhead GEN 2 LRMP ignition module) is inserted and removed via a turn bolt action but the propellant and projectile are loaded into the barrel through the muzzle. The company guarantees sub-MOA accuracy for this firearm and notes that this is the most deadly accurate muzzleloader ever produced at Fierce Firearms. Kalashnikov USA entered the optics market back at the end of 2020 with the release of the BARS micro red dot sight. The company is now expanding its presence in this market and announced a new line of reflex sights called Core. According to Kalashnikov USA, these sights are currently in use by the South Korean military and special forces units. The KUSA Core family of sights currently has two members, the Core-1 and Core-2. Assuming you’re the former, that means that you’ve spent countless hours learning how to make holes. Hopefully, you also practice plugging holes. The third hole-related topic is preventing holes. TriStar Arms, a renowned importer of firearms in the United States, has recently unveiled its latest offering: the Matrix line of inertia-driven shotguns. True Velocity, Inc., designers of lightweight composite-cased ammunition, have announced a new partnership with FN America. The partnership will look to test True Velocity’s conversion kit which can chamber the M240 in the proprietary 6.8TVCM composite-cased cartridge with the change of a barrel.

The producers of the multi-caliber rifle KAR-21, Ensio FireArms Oy, recently published a press release that criticizes Finland’s procurement process to acquire a new weapon system to replace the current RK62 and RK95 assault rifles. In the press release, Ensio FireArms claims it’s their opinion “that the current exclusion procedures are not in the best interests of national defense performance, cost-effectiveness, or the development of the Finnish defense industry.”

Cleaning your suppressor isn’t something you’re going to do every day, maybe not even every year, but it’s something that does occasionally need to be done any time you’re running exceptionally dirty ammunition or you’re a high-volume suppressor shooter. North Forest Arms, a company located in Burlington, NC, makes interesting pistol night sights called Dual Picture sights. The rear sight of Dual Picture sights is a large aperture with a notch cut on top and tritium dots on its sides. The front sight houses a tritium dot and has a top extension matching the cutout in the rear sight. This design is advertised to provide both precise aiming and high speed of sight picture acquisition. Let’s see how it works.

Palmetto State Armory needs little introduction. They are firmly established in the market as one of the largest gun manufacturers. Their Sabre line just expanded to include an A5-length buffer kit, called the S5.

Debuting less than a year after its 5.56mm bore cousin, the HUXWRX FLOW 762 Ti is 3D printed (metal laser sintering) from titanium powder and weighs in at less than 12 ounces. Unique internal geometries, only possible through the use of additive manufacturing process, create pathways through the suppressor allowing gasses to flow forward. The result is a quieter experience for the shooter and a system-neutral design that doesn’t have an adverse effect on cyclic rates or other weapon functions.
