Hera Arms  Link System is a new line of muzzle devices that have an interesting two-part design that allows you to easily install or remove the muzzle devices using just an Allen key. The Link System consists of muzzle adapters called base holders and the actual muzzle devices. The base holders are screwed onto the muzzle threads of the firearm and provide an attachment interface for installing the muzzle devices which are simply threaded into the base holders and fixed in place via three set screws.

At SHOT Show in January of this year, Smith & Wesson busted out their take on a 5.7x28mm pistol in the form of the M&P 5.7. The 5.7 series began much like the Ford Model T’s black color scheme, but Smith & Wesson has just announced they’re adding FDE (Flat Dark Earth) to the color options of the M&P 5.7 series of pistols. Aimpoint, EOTECH and SIG Sauer have all been awarded contracts to provide weapon sights for various weapon systems as a part of the UK’s wider Support Weapons Enhanced Sighting Systems (SWESS) program. Overall, the SWESS program is looking to acquire around 12,000 sighting systems for a variety of the British Army’s support weapons ranging from M2 Brownings to 84mm Carl Gustafs.

FN America has a new .22 LR pistol, the 502 MRD. It takes the existing 502 and adds an optics-ready slide. Much like the original, it features a 10-round capacity and a single-action-only hammer.

While a negligent discharge is at the top of my list of things to avoid on the range, there are other dangers to consider while shooting. Traditional steel targets cause bullets to fragment on impact. Those tiny pieces typically fly into the ground around the target, but every now and then, one will fly back and hit me. Thankfully, I’m smart enough to wear eye protection, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get hurt. This past Monday, two Arizona teens were sentenced to federal prison for attempting to smuggle AK-47-style rifles into Mexico. While the drive and motivation displayed by these young, 19-year-old entrepreneurs – Manuel De Jesus Guzman of Rio Rico and Joshua Francisco Mendez of Tucson – is impressive, it’s the smuggling method that they employed that deserves attention. The teens were arrested in June 2022 after they tried to leave the United States through the pedestrian gate at the DeConcini Port of Entry in Nogales. Customs and Border Protection officers found four AK-47-style rifles taped to their bodies during a search at a secondary inspection.

Reviving a six-year-old product announcement is not a normal occurrence in the firearms industry, but neither is a rifle/trigger/optic manufacturer releasing a silencer. The Geissele Super Night Owl quietly appeared on the manufacturer’s site this week without much fanfare. The 2.25” diameter, 1.47-pound rifle suppressor is bored to 6.5mm, is user serviceable, and is priced at $2,400. If you are scratching your head and wondering if something is off, you aren’t alone. Absent mind-blowing noise reduction numbers, these stats are difficult to digest. We’ll pass on more information as soon as it becomes available.
