Magtech Ammunition is introducing new, lower-priced Steel Case 9mm pistol ammunition. Developed over a two-year period, this Magtech should be better than traditional steel case offerings as Magtech will handle production in-house using proprietary machinery and will incorporate the same Boxer primers and the same powder and projectiles used in Magtech’s standard brass case 9mm.

For a long time, Savage Arms built straight-shooting rifles at affordable prices, but lately, they’ve been adding a lot of options for hunters who appreciate the finer things of life. The latest entry along these lines is the KLYM rifle series. Intended for big game hunters on the move, the KLYM series adds modern materials to the long-running 110 platform as well as the newer straight-pull Impulse platform.

Today marks the official launch of Barrett’s newest rifle, the MRADELR.  Designed for Extreme Long Range (ELR) shooters, the MRADELR is a larger version of the existing MRAD chambered in .416 Barrett. Smith & Wesson just released a new edition of the M&P with the Performance Center Metal M&P9 M2.0, featuring an OD green Cerakote finish, Faxon compensator and suppressor height sights. Straight-wall cartridges are getting a lot of press in recent years because our powers that be – in their infinite wisdom – believe that if a rifle casing is straight on its edge, that will be safer for everyone who is hunting in the surrounding area (I cannot believe we’re entertaining conversations like this, but I digress). The Firearm Industry Trade Association (NSSF) says Black Friday was a huge day for gun sales again in 2023, and the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) was very busy. The authorities say they performed the largest number of NICS checks ever on a single day. However, the number of background checks over the whole week was behind 2022’s number and also slightly behind the figure for 2021.

Last year, the Polish FB Radom VIS 100 M1 pistol made its debut in the United States thanks to Arms of America working with FB Radom to import it for the U.S. market. Good news, cowboy action shootists – the Marlin 1894 is back on the market in .357 Magnum chambering. If you’ve been paying attention, you should remember the Marlin 1894 returned to the market last July, after months out of production when previous brand owner Remington went bust. Now, Ruger is building these rifles in North Carolina, but upon their reintroduction, they were only available in .44 Magnum.

The AR-15 isn’t typically what I think of when it comes to most hunting applications. However, the AR platform covers a wide range of cartridges, some of which are more than suitable for hunting everything from small varmints to feral hogs. A new research document from the Outdoor Stewards of Conservation Foundation titled Proliferation of Hunting With AR-Platform / Modern Sporting Rifles sheds some light on how AR has been used within the hunting world.

Noreen Firearms have announced the release of the second generation of their ULR single-shot .50BMG bolt action rifle. The main difference of the new ULR 2.0 rifle from its predecessor is the aluminum chassis that features an adjustable stock and a handguard (the first-generation URL rifle had a two-position collapsible stock and a spigot bipod mount, no handguard). As sad as it is to hear, sometimes manufacturing defects happen and make their way out the door. Today SilencerCo has announced an immediate safety recall for OMEGA 300, OMEGA 36M, HYBRID 46, HYBRID 46M, and HARVESTER EVO purchased between June 1, 2023, through October 9, 2023, including ones sent to SilencerCo dealers. SilencerCo recently discovered a welding defect on these specific models of suppressors that could pose a threat to the user through catastrophic failure of the suppressor. SilencerCo has recommended that you immediately stop using your suppressor if it is indicated that it falls within the safety recall window, which you can check by entering your serial number on this page.
