When it comes to choosing range pistols, whether it is to shoot a league or simply improve your shooting ability on your own time, a lot of us reach for polymer guns. So, where is the love for metal-frame pistols? There are lots of brands out there and platforms to pick from, but all of our metal alloy friends get passed over more times than not. I am personally guilty of this. I heard the gospel of Gaston probably 5 years ago and have been guzzling that Kool-Aid ever since. Recently though I came across the CZ-USA Shadow 2 SA (Single-Action Only) 9mm. I dry-fired it once in my gun shop and I was hooked! So, in today’s TFB Review we are going to assess whether my dry-fire was foolish love at first sight or something that could become eternal love. Let’s dive in!

When the world as we know it collapses into anarchy, most gun guys talk about which rifle they’ll grab first, but what about the secondary weapon? Sometimes handguns get brought up as an afterthought in
“Shit Hits The Fan” discussions, but I’d like to focus on why handguns are just as important. I plan on grabbing my trusty CZ SP-01.

If you have been keeping a keen eye on the firearms industry there are several trends that have been occurring in the last 3 – 5 years in a big way. For one, we are seeing an abundance of factory-configured pistols that accept red dot sights. So many shooters over the years have paid off gunsmiths to modify their handguns to accept optics that manufacturers are jumping on board. Secondly, more and more companies are offering select firearms with threaded barrels. While the NFA approval process is still a deplorable abomination to wade through, there are more people buying silencers than ever before. Thirdly, people are in pursuit of Custom Shop pistols out-of-the-box so they can circumvent sending a gun to a Custom Shop (and paying the associated price hike).

According to the Fresno Bee, the Fresno Police Department is allegedly switching from its current standard Beretta PX4’s chambered in .40 S&W for new Glock 45s chambered in 9mm. This would change the roughly 800 officer police force’s entire duty weapon inventory. This would be in line with several other Law Enforcement departments that have made the switch from .40 S&W to 9mm.

Thanks for joining us on another TFB Field Strip adventure, where we’ll look at the Yugoslavian, Zastava M57 pistol, and by extension, its predecessor the Soviet TT series.  I was fortunate enough to be introduced to the Yugo M57 by friends I was shooting with and the owner was kind enough to let me share the field strip process with TFB readers.

When you hear roller delayed blowback, you probably think about Heckler & Koch because the G3 rifle and its derivatives such as the ever-popular MP5 are the family of firearms most known for successfully utilizing this operating mechanism. In 1999 Steyr unveiled their first polymer frame semi-auto handguns, the Model M-A1 pistols.  Included in this lineup was the M9-A1 pistol that they so kindly sent over for me to review.  These pistols featured an on trigger safety system that Steyr called a “Reset Action Trigger”.  To top it all off, the pistols came equipped with Steyr’s patented triangular trapezoidal sighting system.

Full Conceal has just introduced their M3D-S6 BARE Frame Folding kit, that allows customers to build a folding Glock 19 if they have the slide assembly and frame internal parts.  The BARE Frame Folding kit includes all of the necessary components for assembling a fully folding Glock 19, such as Full Conceal’s complete models.

Arming the Space Force, the sixth and newest branch of the United States Armed Forces will be an interesting endeavor when it comes to small arms. Naturally, any conventional weapon will be at the Space Force’s disposal while on Earth, but space brings a whole host of issues and challenges when it comes to firing guns in space as I covered in PART 1.
