Suppressors for Precision Rifle Series (PRS) shooting is something I’m looking into at the moment, and conveniently Maxim Defense has just released such a solution. Typically suppressors lessen the muzzle flash, noise and recoil while making the gun a little more accurate. Maxim’s new PRS suppressors have a 3-piece MonoKore design with a 1.75” outer diameter, and are made out of grade-5 titanium and 7075-T6 aluminum. The finish is Cerakote / Type-III hard coat anodizing. It’s available for 6.5 and .308 calibers and attaches with a 5/8-24 thread pitch. The suppressor adds 7.25″ to the overall length of the gun, and weighs 10.8 oz. The MSRP of Maxim Defense PRS suppressors is $695.

The existing catalog of Canik handguns currently spans nearly two dozen models between their Signature, Rival, Mete, and TP9 series. These guns differ in a variety of details from finishes to features, and range in price from MSRPs starting at $379.99 to $899.99. A new model now sits atop the high end of this range, with the recent announcement of the company’s two new SFx Rival-S variants. These newest 9mm additions feature steel frames and are offered in either a shiny silver-and-black colorway or a blacked-out “Dark Side” finish. Hi-Point Firearms is a company with, shall we say, a bit of a reputation. Their budget-friendly products, which they call “the working man’s gun”, have become the quintessential meme guns. To their credit, they generally lean into this characterization. This is a brand which used a social media campaign to get the public to name one of its guns, which resulted in the infamous “Yeet Cannon”. Now they’re expanding their lineup with a new version which has been much requested by its customer base, this time in 10mm. Meet the new Hi-Point JXP10.

Patriot Ordnance Factory, aka POF-USA, is best known for their AR-pattern rifles, particularly their piston-driven models. The Arizona-based operation began its existence in late founder Frank DeSomma’s garage, fueled by his experience as an aerospace engineer, and is still carrying on strong in his memory with fresh products and innovation. They announced a new PCC, the Phoenix, at SHOT Show 2022, and are now doubling down in the 9mm game ahead of SHOT Show 2023. Their newest pistol-caliber gun looks a bit different, however. Meet the 9mm magazine-fed lever-action Tombstone.

EAA Corp has just announced the Girsan Witness2311, as the first affordable double-stack 1911 pistol. Chambered in either 9mm, 45ACP, or 10mm, the Witness2311 will be available to the retail market soon, apparently making its debut at the upcoming 2023 SHOT Show in mid January. With a starting price of $999, EAA intends to make the double-stack 1911 more accessible to the budget-minded shooter. Additional details can be found below.

Since their founding twenty years ago, Boise, Idaho-based Tactical Solutions has made a name for itself in the industry most notably as Ruger rimfire specialists, although they also make successful products for other brands, such as their .22 Long Rifle conversion kits for Glock handguns. Since TacSol’s original Pac-Lite barrels for the Ruger Mark I, Mark II, Mark III, and 22/45 from two decades ago, their product lineup has expanded to encompass a good deal of parts and accessories for the vaunted 10/22 platform as well. Odin Works offers a full suite of complete firearms, parts, and accessories primarily for the AR platform. From AR-15s, AR-10s, AR-9s, suppressors, and more, this Boise, Idaho-based shop pretty much does it all. Previously, their AR-10 complete upper receiver lineup has ranged in length from 16″ to 22″ barrels. Now the company is expanding their offerings by adding a new carbine-length option as well. In the world of long-range precision shooting and hunting, Gunwerks is a household name. Their product lineup includes five-figure-priced setups like the HamR, which they boast possesses two-mile hit capability out of the box, and the lightweight ClymR intended for trekking on foot during mountain hunting. There have been more than a few attempts made to modernize the venerable 1911 over the years. While the inimitable John Moses Browning’s 111-year-old original design has a veritable host of fanatical adherents who display no compunction in declaring that the 1911 needs no updating as it is the perfect creation of God himself, not all shooters concur. Some want different calibers or other features offered by the swath of 2011 variants that have cropped up in recent years. Some manufacturers have taken things a step further and fully hybridized the 1911, like Dan Wesson with CZ in their DWX. Now a new player is emerging in the 1911-of-the-future game. Meet Oracle Arms and their new 2311 handgun, launching soon at SHOT Show 2023.

Reptilia Corp is probably most well-known for their optics mounts, though they make a variety of other products such as stocks, grips, and weaponlight bodies. Their optics mounts are available for a broad spectrum of applications, many of which are designed to add red dots onto scope mounts for quick and effective transitions between longer-distance engagements and close-quarters shooting. Other models are built as standalone red dot mounts for non-scoped firearms. They have just announced a new version of their red dot mount, this time supporting the Holosun AEMS micro reflex sight. Fans of exotic AK builds, rejoice!  BarWarus USA is bringing a Zenitco clone handguard and top rail to the US market. It is made in Turkey, so it can still be imported legally (unlike most/all Russian products).

Ruger’s affordable Wrangler single-action rimfire revolver is now available in three new barrel lengths. Wranglers with 6.5″, 7.5″, and 3.75″ barrels are now part of the lineup.

Shooting shotguns with a red dot makes a lot of sense, and they are a lot of fun to shoot as well. The new Mossberg 940 Pro Tactical comes ready for optics, including receiver cuts that accept a low-profile direct mounting of any Shield RMSc footprint micro dot sight. So it’s no surprise that one of Mossberg’s new packages conveniently includes a Holosun HS407K open reflex sight, so everything is ready out-of-the-box. The 940 Pro Tactical Holosun 6 MOA Micro Dot Combo has an MSRP of $1,333 and the Optics-Ready version goes for $1,189. They both come with an 18.5-inch barrel and a tube for 7+1 rounds.

Dave Lauck of D&L Sports recently announced a collaboration with Hogue Inc. in which they designed the PRG Revolver Grips, or Performance Revolver Grips for round butt Smith & Wesson revolvers. No doubt, you’ve already noticed the pronounced features of the PRG revolver grips with the scarcely seen beavertail covering the backstrap, which is there to aid in controlling recoil, as well as to help aid the shooter with naturally pointing the PRG-equipped revolvers. The contoured hand stop is also designed to assist in recoil management, and the butt also conceals a lanyard anchor. Mr. Lauck describes his D&L Sports G10, PRG Revolver Grips below.

For most of its history, the Thunder Beast Arms Corporation has primarily made suppressors for the precision rifle sector, but it seems lately that they’re branching out a bit. TFB recently shared the news of TBAC’s 9mm can, the Fly 9. This titanium-constructed silencer features a modular design that allows either a seven-inch long configuration or a short 4.4-inch conversion. Now they’ve announced a second Fly model, the Fly 45. This new can will also feature the same titanium construction and modularity as the Fly 9, with both eight-inch and 5.5-inch configuration options. Reptilia Corp has a strong firearms industry pedigree, with some of their personnel carrying prior brand affiliations from a number of the top names in the business, such as Magpul and Crye Precision. They produce a spectrum of weapon accessories for a variety of platforms, including AR-15s, precision rifles, and more. In particular, they are probably best known for their optics mount components and integral M-LOK weapon light bodies. More than three years ago, GLOCK announced a contract with Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to supply them with three pistols. A Gen 5 GLOCK 26, a Gen 5 GLOCK 19 MOS, and a brand new model: the GLOCK 47. The new GLOCK 47 is the same length, width, and height as a Gen 5 GLOCK 17 – so what was the big deal? At the time, this was a CBP/Law Enforcement only pistol, unavailable to retail customers. But as we now sit, finally, on the virtual eve of the G47 release to consumers, it’s our job to explain why this GLOCK is an important step in the Perfection revolution. Let’s take a look.

On the heels of their successful mid-length Vox-S suppressor, Energetic Arms announced the compact K version around SHOT Show 2019. With “K” indicating “Kurtz” (which is German for “short”), this compact silencer chopped down about an inch, for those shooters concerned about their gun’s overall length. The K model was also generally well received, as its bigger S-model brother had been. Now Energetic is endeavoring to evolve the series further. They recently issued a press release announcing an updated version, the Vox K2. The K2 update boasts improved performance over its predecessor, measured in weight efficiency – i.e. decibel reduction per ounce of silencer weight. It will still function with a variety of mounts, such as Dead Air’s Key-Mo, SilencerCo’s ASR, Q’s Plan-B, and more, and its .30 cal bore will function with different end caps for either 7.62mm or 5.56mm compatibility and the silicone wipes for which this series has become well-known. Two years ago, Springfield Armory released their Model 2020 bolt-action rifle series to much acclaim – our own James Reeves awarded them a place in the list of his top five guns of 2020. He ran it through Thunder Ranch’s counter-sniper course and praised the rifle for its lightness, features, and performance. Federal Premium had launched its high-end Custom Shop operation the year prior, giving customers the ability to select from a choice menu of bullet styles and grains in a variety of calibers. Now Federal and Springfield have partnered to introduce a lineup of Custom Shop ammo specifically for the Model 2020 series.

XS Sights has been in the gun sight business for more than a quarter of a century, having been founded as Ashley Research & Development in 1996. They are best known for their modern semi-auto handgun night sights, including some tritium and photoluminescent options. In addition to these, they offer products for other firearm types as well, such as hunting rifles, shotguns, and more. Their product lineup has recently expanded further, now also offering two models of rear sight pusher tools for Glocks.

Mossberg are adding the possibility to use red dots (with the Shield RMSc pattern) for their 500 Turkey and 835 Ulti-Mag Turkey pump action shotguns. The 500 Turkey Optic-Ready is available in 410 bore 3″ and 20 gauge 3″, while the 835 Ulti-Mag Turkey Optic-Ready is a 12 gauge shotgun with a 3.5-inch chamber. The price is between $644 and $693.

Since their establishment nearly a decade ago, Cloud Defensive has evolved from an industry disruptor to one of the industry leaders in the tactical lighting space. Their OWL and REIN weaponlights, MCH handheld, and assortment of other products have come to be trusted by many shooters, including some top-level professionals. Their OWL was innovative in that it eschewed cabled tape-style switches in favor of an integral top-rail mount and button combination construction, similar to (and in fact, inspired by) the B.E. Meyers MAWL infrared laser/illuminator. The original REIN design evolved into a 2.0 version with an updated form factor, and now Cloud have announced a brand-new REIN 3.0 model. The updated variant will be available from 10AM CST on December 14th, boasting some key changes detailed in the official product description below.

Midwest Industries recently released a new AK Light & Laser Mount for AKM pattern rifles that attaches to the barrel. The new AK Light & Laser mount features two 1913 Picatinny rails, one on each side, with 2.1 inches of space for mounting, well, lights and lasers. The mount also has a cutout to allow for the cleaning rod to remain in place under the barrel. Midwest Industries’ specs can be found below.

Bushnell launches a new Match Pro ED 5-30×56 FFP riflescope, which expands on what the original Match Pro model brought to the market. Apart from improved optics with a 34mm diameter tube, you’ll also have a new illuminated DM2 reticle. The elevation is 30 MIL (103 MOA) with zero stop turrets.

Shooting Precision Rifle Competitions with an airgun? Really? Yes, with FX Airguns‘ new FX Panthera there is now a dedicated, purpose-built air rifle on the market designed to compete and win Precision Rifle Competitions. According to the press release, the FX Panthera feels and shoots like a precision 22LR, with “laser-sharp precision and accuracy“.

SIG Sauer has just released a new variant of the P320 pistol, the P320 XFive DH3, which was designed with Daniel Horner, a member of Team SIG. The P320 XFive DH3 features an optics-ready slide, flared magazine well, night sights, and a weighted, 43.5-ounce, tungsten-infused XFull grip module also found on the P320 XFive Legion. SIG states that the DH3 version of the P320 is blended to meet the needs of competitors and defenders alike, SIG’s description and specs can be found below.

Those of you who are knife fans as well as firearms enthusiasts may recognize Max Venom primarily as a blade brand. Over the last decade or so, Max Venom has developed a number of edged weapon designs, as well as some other products like impact weapons. What you may not know is that they have also dipped a toe into the gun world on occasion. They had a hand in the early development of what later evolved into the FAB Defense KPOS chassis and attempted to launch the FFD “Fast Fire Device” for Glocks, as TFB reported in 2018. Smith & Wesson has released a new Performance Center addition to their METAL Series of M&P pistols, the M&P9 M2.0 Competitor. As the name suggests, it is marketed for competition shooting. The pistol features a metal frame, fiber optic sights, and an optic cut.

Brownells just announced a new HK416-pattern upper receiver kit, the BRN-4. This piston-driven upper is compatible with standard AR-15 lower receiver groups.

Zastava Arms USA is the exclusive American importer of Serbia’s acclaimed AK-pattern rifles, as well as a number of other firearms models, such as the beastly .50-caliber bolt-action Black Arrow M93. TFB recently covered the teasing of a new M70 underfolder, and it appears that the rumors are true. The company’s social media has now officially announced the addition of a new no-gunsmithing-required underfolder stock kit to their product lineup.
