The hungriest beast of them all on this blog is our Photo Of The Day. It consumes hundreds of images every month, and here are two more for your viewing pleasure. Above you see a U.S. soldier assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Virginia National Guard, as he takes a defensive posture during a blank fire iteration of Immediate Response 24.

The location is the Libava Training Area, Czech Republic. DEFENDER is a U.S. European Command scheduled, U.S. Army Europe and Africa conducted an exercise that consists of Saber Strike, Immediate Response, and Swift Response. DEFENDER 24 is linked to NATO’s Steadfast Defender exercise, and DoD’s Large Scale Global Exercise, and took place between 28 March to 31 May 2024.
