Hello and welcome to TFB Podcast Roundup 36! Sport shooting is a criminally underrated activity and I really wish more people would get into it. Welcome to TFB Podcast Roundup 35. Spring is officially here and you know what that means? No, I don’t mean more range time, I mean it’s time for all of that spring cleaning that you’ve been looking forward to all winter! The Next Generation Squad Weapon program has been a huge driver within the firearms industry on nearly all fronts. Firearms and ammunition manufacturers have all been submitting their best offerings to the United States government in order to gain a contract and one of the companies that might be most well known during this process is True Velocity. True Velocity specializes in composite cartridge development and today Pete and Hrachya from TFB are joined by Pat and Nick from True Velocity to talk a bit about TVA’s development process and experiences working within the NGSW program.

In this episode of the TFB Behind the Gun podcast, we’re back at SHOT Show 2022 with Joel Hodgdon and the Remington Arms Company. Pete and Joel are here to talk a bit about how the last two years have affected the longstanding arms manufacturer and what Remington has planned for 2022 and beyond. Joel Hodgdon has spent the last couple of years working directly with the Remington brand and his previous experience includes time at the Congressional Sportsman’s foundation, as well as several years as a board member of the Hodgdon Power Company

Podcasts are basically what get me through the workday and aside from a few non-firearm-related podcasts, pretty much everything else I listen to is about guns or something firearms-related. The folks over at Taurus have just announced that they will be starting their own podcast dubbed the “Taurus By the Horns.” This new podcast will be hosted by Taurus Shooting Team Captain Jessie Harrison and fellow team member K.C. Eusebio.

The year 2022 is shaping up to be one of the most interesting years in recent history and while we don’t like to talk politics here at TFB, we do understand that the world of politics does have a huge impact upon the firearms world and we also like to personally keep close tabs on happenings around the world. A huge reason I listen to podcasts and also like to host people on podcasts is that almost every episode I listen to turns into a learning experience. Whether I’m listening to something about 3 gunning, precision rifle shooting, concealed carry methods, or just listening to other people’s hot takes on new gear and weapons, I always find that I come away from these podcasts with a more well-rounded understanding of whatever subject it was about. Since there are a lot of hot current events topics, I’ve included a few episodes that touch on those events as well as a few other episodes with the rest of your everyday gun stuff. Maxim Defense is a fairly well-known company within the firearms industry and they are probably most well known for their development of suppressors, and more recently, their development of short-barreled rifle ammunition which tumbles upon impact to increase terminal performance. SHOT Show 2022 was a blast for the TFB crew and for many of us, it’s not so much the guns and gear that we are excited to see but instead the relationships that we’ve built throughout the years at these types of shows. Italy is famous within the firearms world for its long-standing history of firearms production. Beretta, in particular, is famous for being the oldest active manufacturer of firearms in the world with the company being established back in the 16th century, nearly 500 years ago. While Giorgio is nowhere near that old, he is very familiar with Italian firearms law and culture because that is where he was born and raised. Today Giorgio and I talk about some of his experience and knowledge surrounding the Italian firearms world as well as some of his thoughts on what the future of Italian firearms culture and law will look like in the years to come. Giorgio has been writing with TFB for about 3 years now with some of his earliest coverage being from the IDEX convention in 2019.

Welcome to TFB Podcast Roundup 27. As we press on into 2022, many of you are probably making resolutions for yourself in your personal life or even in your firearms life. One of my goals for this year is to increase the frequency that I compete and to attend more classes and firearms seminars if possible. What are your goals this year? Don’t have any yet? Many of you will know Mischief Machine from either TFB or TFBTV. We’ve posted about Mischief Machine’s products before and Mischief Machine even sent in a couple samples of their 3D printed EDC pocket flashlight mounts to TFBTV mailroom for James to try out. What many of you probably don’t know though is that Mischief Machine is really just one man with a dream, a lot of drive, and probably zero sleep. Joe Potter is the sole owner and operator of Mischief Machine and has grown his company substantially since 2017 when he started making 3D printed parts for scopes and optics. Joe is an impressive example of an American entrepreneur making great products purely out of the desire to have something one wants for themselves, and then turning that idea into something other people can buy. Today on the TFB B-Side podcast I talk with Joe about his recently released Alpha Series P365 grip module as well as a couple of his other projects he’s done and a teaser of an upcoming product that will debut just before SHOT Show 2022.

TFB has only been in the podcast game for a short time now but in that time both Pete and I have had the chance to talk to some really amazing people. We kicked off the TFB Behind The Gun Podcast with the goal of bringing industry professionals, CEOs, and other great gun people right to you in an easy listening format. We are fast approaching finishing our 50th episode which means nearly a full year of podcasts down the barrel for TFB. Anyway, today I’ll be recapping some of my favorite episodes from last year, and perhaps there might be a few episodes in there that you guys missed that you might find interesting to listen to as we get closer to ringing in the new year. Sweden is a lot more than meets the eye. While some of you may think of Ikea and their famous meatballs upon first hearing the country’s name, others think of names like Carl Gustaf, VO Vapen, and Husqvarna to name a few. While Sweden has seen its fair share of firearms pass through and out of its borders, many still wonder what exactly goes on in the small firearms community that Sweden does have. Today I’ve brought on guest Hagge Bänke who is a massive firearms enthusiast. Hagge owns and collects all sorts of firearms in his home country of Sweden including all types of bolt-actions, MP5 submachine guns, and even a couple of soviet weapons he’s gotten his hands on throughout the years. Hagge is also the owner and operator of his own gun club and also happens to be somewhat of an expert on Swedish firearms law since he has had to go toe to toe with various authorities within Sweden to get some of his licenses. Like any good Scandinavian, Hagge believes “the gun is good” as per his god’s wishes.

One man, and our guest for today, Jonathan Wild, is making it more mainstream. A Canadian-born, UK-raised American citizen, Jonny has an unparalleled enthusiasm for not only firearms but recoilless launchers. The rich history of Austrian firearms development goes back well before the 20th century. Being the 14th most armed country in the world, Austria is responsible for bringing us some of the most popular firearms for both military and civilian use with offerings like the Steyr AUG, and Glock pistols. While it may not seem like it, Austria does have a surprisingly small but dedicated group of firearms owners who own and shoot guns for self-defense, hunting, and of course fun! Today I speak with Sebastian Unger who is the brains behind the OpenTop 11/22 now produced by Fletcher Rifle Works here in the USA. Sebastian spent many years developing this innovative product and it is somewhat of a homegrown product here at TFB as many of you readers have given Sebastian feedback over the years which has helped him refine the concept to make it something truly unique and useful for many people. Today on the TFB B-Side Podcast, Sebastian and I talk a bit about the 11/22 receiver as well as his experience with firearms in his home country of Austria.
