POTD: Mossberg 590A1 12 Gauge Shotgun
Photo Of The Day – The shotgun is probably the most violent firearm of them all. But depending on the ammunition it can also be non-lethal, which is the theme in these pictures. Above we see a U.S. Marine as he fires a Mossberg 590A1 12-gauge shotgun during a non-lethal weapons training exercise, in January 2020.
What Round For Coronavirus? Ammunition Sales Spike As Americans Hunker Down
In the wake of increasing security concerns regarding the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, Americans are buying up guns and ammunition at a breakneck pace. After years of suffering from high prices related to overseas conflicts, raw material availability, and incidents in the U.S. that could push forward new firearm restrictions, we were just starting to get back to normal pricing levels. Just in time for a another bank run on lead, copper and brass. Ammo.com just sent over a very interesting data-driven report on the calibers, locations and price increases of ammunition sales in recent days.
Austrian RECOIL BUSTER Shotgun Stocks
An Austrian company called Recoil Buster makes recoil mitigating stocks for over and under shotguns. The buttplate and cheekpiece of these stocks are combined in a separate spring-loaded L-shaped unit that upon firing compresses into the actual stock dampening the felt recoil.

Watch today to find out.
A Beautiful Syren's Song Sounds a Lot Like the New Elos N2 Elevate
With the steady increase of the involvement of women in the world of firearms, it feels absolutely necessary to let you know about Syren’ s newest shotgun in their lineup, the Elos N2 Elevate! This new Syren over and under style is one of the most adjustable and comfortable looking shotguns I have seen in a long while. Most competition based guns are imploding with all sorts of stuff poking out for minute adjustments and may very well be completely necessary, but it lacks the beauty of this beast. It is very cool to see an adjustable shotgun that is still as sleek and elegant as a normal run of the mill stock firearm.
Czech Detonics GLADIATOR Double-Barreled Muzzleloading and 410 Bore Shotguns
About a year ago, we published an article telling about muzzleloading double-barreled break-action derringers made by a Czech company called Czechgun. Apparently, the company has been since renamed to Detonics and recently, they announced that they’ve expanded this line of firearms to now include .50 cal muzzleloading and 410 bore shotguns.

Stoeger has added a new version of the P3000 pump shotgun to their Freedom Series, which is their second offering in the pump style shotguns. Stoeger explains that they’ve used a number of US-made parts to comply with the Federal code known as 922R, which means that it can be offered in its pictured state.
The $100,000 Continental Safe From John Wick
If the Ultimate gun safe ever existed this is probably it. Florida-based Big Daddy Unlimited is now offering the The Continental Safe – styled after the one seen in John Wick III.
[SHOT 2020] Black Aces Tactical Bullpup Pump Action 12 Gauge Shotgun
The latest addition to the Black Aces Tactical shotgun line is called The Bullpup Pump – a fairly self-explanatory name. This 12 gauge shotgun is based on a Turkish magazine-fed bullpup semi-auto shotgun converted by Black Aces Tactical into a spring-assisted pump-action gun.
[SHOT 2020] New Rifles and Shotguns from Savage
Savage introduced expansions to their existing series of rifles, as well as a completely new Renegauge shotgun at this year’s SHOT Show. These featured a wide variety of options in both lineups. As well as a slew of new choices in both caliber, color, and configuration. Savage looks to take the brand farther toward what the end-user wants with their new lineup.
[SHOT 2020] Wilkinson Tactical's AR Shotgun
At range day at this year’s SHOT Show I ran into Wilkinson Tactical, a veteran-run company based in Wyoming, that specialises in shotguns – AR platform-based shotguns to be exact. Their CR12 is a box-magazine fed 12 gauge shotgun with parts compatibility with other AR-platform guns.

[SHOT 2020] New Benelli Bolt Action : il Lupo
Working the bolt, the action of the rifle feels very smooth, a lot like a Tikka T3. The trigger pull felt very good on the floor samples and is adjustable from 2.2-4.2lbs. The Lupo has a very European 2 position safety, located directly behind the cocking indicator. The grip and fore-end are textured as well. Early examples have produced groups as good as half MOA, though the rifle is guaranteed to shoot sub-MOA three shot groups.
870 Overhaul – Is It Worth Rebuilding A Remington 870?
A few months back, I wrote an article on finding a Remington 870 police trade-in shotgun for right around $50. What I didn’t tell you was that I went back and bought a second 870 for the same price once the article was released. Both shotguns had some degree of surface rust and had seen better days. The bolts and components were all worn down and the overall lockup left a lot to be desired. So after taking a look at everything, I decided to sink a little money into them and try to bring one of the tired 870’s back to life. Let’s jump into my journey rebuilding a Remington 870.

Savage Arms RENEGAUGE – Rifle Maker's First Semiautomatic Shotgun
Breaking from traditions, one iconic rifle maker has done something different for 2020 – meet the Savage Arms RENEGAUGE. Initially available in three versions – Field, Turkey and Waterfowl – the RENEGAUGE takes square aim at the hunting firearms market. Sporting a gas valve system known as a Dual Regulating In-line Valve (D.R.I.V.) – the Savage Arms new shotgun should provide the shooter with consistent ejection and lower felt recoil. Additional information, pricing and links can be found below.
Savage Renegauge Shotgun – FAST!
Check out the new shotgun from Savage called the Renegauge! The gas system is what makes it different. It’s called the D.R.I.V. system and it stands for Dual Regulating Inline Valve gas system. In simple terms, it regulates just the right amount of gas to cycle the bolt, meaning that the shotgun can operate efficiently whether using low recoil birdshot or heavy magnums.
New Henry Axe Chops Down Length of Their .410
Henry has released a new firearm, both in the general and specific sense. The new Henry Axe is a smoothbore lever action chambered in .410, with a barrel length of “just under 16 inches” and an OAL of 26.5″. It is also equipped with a King’s gate (receiver side loading gate) and threaded for chokes. I do believe it is the first firearm from Henry to have a King’s gate in their blued “Steel” receiver. With a “axe handle” grip instead of a buttstock, this puts the “Axe” into the category of a “Firearm”.
More ATF Reclassification: Fostech Origin SBV Now NFA Regulated
Pursuant to an ATF determination earlier this summer, the FosTech Origin SBV firearm now falls under the purview of the National Firearms Act (NFA). The Origin SBV is equipped with a smooth bore barrel that is less than 18” in length, but utilizes a pistol stabilizing brace instead of a shoulder stock. The setup, once believed to avoid NFA regulations, has been reclassified as either a Short Barreled Shotgun (SBS) or an Any Other Weapon (AOW) requiring an NFA registration and transfer application and taxes.
TFB Review: Henry Side Gate Lever Action Shotgun
The addition of “King’s Gate” equipped firearms from Henry keeps rolling on. This time, it’s one of their .410 shotguns that gets the treatment. Already intriguing in that they are lever action shotguns that work rather well out of the box, (hit the link to see a full TFB Review of the H018-410) the addition of a loading gate in the receiver adds to their capability. The H024-410 is Henry’s first Side Gate Lever Action Shotgun.
6 Prototype and Experimental Firearms Seen in December 2019 Rock Island Premier Firearms Auction Catalog
December 2019 Rock Island Premiere Firearms Auction is the last large American auction of the year. As always, when its online catalog was published I started browsing it to put together one of TFB’s articles about the rarest and most unusual firearms seen in the largest US auctions. I ended up with a list of lots that I considered most interesting and then realized that my list mostly consists of prototype and experimental firearms. While there are such guns in any Rock Island Premier auction, this one has a notoriously large amount of them many of which are really unique. That’s why I decided to write this article as a bit of a departure from what we normally cover in our series (rare and unusual guns in general) and dedicate it to telling about the experimental and prototype firearms seen in December 2019 Rock Island Premier Firearms Auction catalog.
TFB FIELD STRIP: Rossi Tuffy .410 Break-Action Shotgun
In this edition of the TFB Field Strip series, we will cover a break-action shotgun, which is made by Taurus under the Rossi brand. The Rossi Tuffy in .410 gauge is a handy little utility shotgun that comes with synthetic furniture that can hold extra cartridges in the stock. The disassembly of the Rossi Tuffy is generally quite similar to most break-action, single shot, shotguns, which are quite easy.
