Winchester Repeating Arms has released the list of their SHOT Show Special firearms. These are limited edition versions of their products that can’t be found in the company’s regular catalog. The dealers can order Winchester SHOT Show Special guns during the industry’s largest exhibition (Jan 18-22, 2021).

Waterfowlers rejoice! Browning has released the second generation of their Maxus semi-auto shotgun – the Maxus II. The new shotgun has a number of redesigned and restyled parts as well as new technologies incorporated into its design to improve over the previous generation. The main new features of this Browning autoloader include the restyled aluminum receiver, oversized controls (bolt handle and bolt catch), redesigned furniture with overmolded rubber grip panels, new SoftFlex cheek pad and  Inflex recoil pad, screw-on magazine cap and ramped trigger guard that helps to guide the shells into the magazine. OK, let’s start with an honest disclosure: I won’t get these guns for Christmas 2020, nor I will get any firearms, for that matter. However, this doesn’t mean I can’t dream. And since we’re just dreaming here, I will dream big and list a few “lifegoal” items with limited practicality, to me, yet extremely cool to my eyes.

The history of Beretta is connected to Vittoria Alata di Brescia (Brescia’s Winged Victory), a 1st-century bronze statue of a goddess, ever since this wonderful Roman-era work of art was discovered during archaeological excavations in Capitolium of Brixia ruins in 1826. It’s been a symbol and trademark of the world’s oldest arms manufacturer featured in the company’s logos, catalogs, manuals, competition trophies as well as on many products such as the S55 shotgun, promotional knives shipped with guns, and in the logo of Vittoria range of shotguns designed for female shooters.

Retay Arms has been in the business of making affordable and innovative shotguns for over 10 years now. Retay USA has just introduced the new GPS (Geometric Pump System) Tactical Shotgun that is stated to be one of the most affordable tactical shotguns. TriStar Arms has recently released several new side-by-side shotguns in their new Bristol lineup. Although they make other firearms, TriStar Arms’ shotguns usually take front and center and the new Bristol lineup is no different with these new shotguns taking on a more artisanal look.

Weatherby has just announced the addition of two new firearms to their lineup. The new Element Tungsten Synthetic is an inertia-operated semi-automatic shotgun loaded down with features suited to high volume shooting. Weatherby’s new Vanguard Synthetic green bolt-action rifle sports a new look and premium features including an adjustable match quality two-stage trigger. Both of the new synthetic models of firearms are available now on the Weatherby store.

Pheasants better beware as Federal Ammunition have released new 16- and 28-gauge Federal Premium Prairie Storm ammo. The payload mix consists of 70 percent standard copper-plated lead and 30 percent FS Lead and according to the manufacturer, the patterning has been improved. The wad design is also improved and the ammo can be used with both ported and standard chokes.

Although Savage‘s rifles are what most firearms enthusiasts know them best for, their shotgun offerings are highly regarded by many hunters and clay shooters as well. These scatterguns are divvied up under three labels: the Savage-named line, the Fox line, and the most prolific of the series is Stevens. Under the Savage shotgun heading, four models of Renegauge semi-autos are available, intended chiefly for waterfowl, turkey, and other bird hunters. The Fox label currently only carries one model, the A Grade, which is a break-open side-by-side design in either 12 gauge or 20 gauge. The Stevens series holds the bulk of the brand’s options, with 27 different models built for a variety of purposes. From hunting to competing to home defense, virtually every shotgun niche is addressed. Now Savage has announced the addition of thumbhole-stock flavors to the Stevens 320 series. Spooky Season is in full swing, and we here at TFB wanted to get into the spirit, so today I have a special Halloween edition article for all you ghouls and goblins. Although we’ve done some All Hallow’s Eve-themed work in the past, and we’ve also touched on movie guns from time to time, I thought it might be interesting to marry the two ideas for Halloween 2020. The horror film genre is inexorably married to this time of the year, and I know there are plenty of slasher, zombie, and paranormal movie buffs in the gun community. What follows is a cherry-picked selection of some Halloween-appropriate films, each of which features a notable firearm or the notable use of a firearm. Bear in mind, this is not a best-of list for scary shows or of best guns to take down Halloween monsters; after all, some great horror films don’t even feature guns prominently – or at all. We’ll take a look at the hand-cannons in each scenario, and I’ll offer ideas for different firearms that could’ve been used for the situation or scene in question. Get your costumes and candy buckets ready, kids!

Recently TFB reported on the announcement of a new high-end shotgun from Krieghoff International, their K-80 Parcours. This elegant over/under carries a tremendous amount of family tradition, from a brand whose history spans nearly a century and a half, two continents, and five generations of family operation. Now the German-American firearms manufacturer has announced a new version purpose-built for sporting clays competitive shooters: the K-80 Parcours-X. Blackwater has got their hands on both sides of the firearms business. Not only do they manufacture ammunition with special loadings they also make some higher end firearms for the discerning customer. Last week, deputies from the Alexander County North Carolina Sherrif’s Office recovered a modified weapon during the course of a search of a vehicle during a traffic stop. Jennifer Lee Haun, the driver, was soon arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance during a traffic stop as well as being in possession of a weapon of mass destruction.

What is known today as the Kids and Clays Foundation began more than twenty years ago, when Indiana McDonald’s owner/operators Glenn and Kathy Lubeznik first organized a sporting clays tournament to benefit the Chicago Ronald McDonald House. Ronald McDonald Houses like these offer free or low-cost housing and other family support programs near children’s hospitals all over the world, seeking to help families with children undergoing major medical care. Over the years, the initial benefit tournament that raised $15,800 for one House has grown tremendously. In 2019 the Kids and Clays Foundation raised nearly $1.9 million, with multiple events held every month all across the United States. To date, the Foundation has raised a lifetime funding total in excess of $20 million for the Ronald McDonald House Charities, since the humble beginnings of that first clay shoot in 1999. Recently, Champion Target helped support this wonderful cause with a St. Louis-area tournament, and they have issued the following press release about the event.

Welcome everyone to the 63rd edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – is this Gat a sweet deal or only have Fudd appeal?  Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article.

MP-155 is one of the most popular semi-auto hunting shotguns in Russia thanks to its robust construction and affordable price. It’s available in a variety of hunting configurations and Kalashnikov Concern also offers a sort of a tactical AR-shaped shotgun ( TG1) based on the MP-155 action. At the ARMY 2020 exhibition, the company introduced another, rather futuristic iteration of this gun called MP-155 ULTIMA that looks more like a sci-fi movie prop. Actually, as mentioned on the Kalashnikov Concern’s social media pages, the appearance of this shotgun was inspired by video game guns.

Having a shotgun as an escort sounds comforting, and in our Photo Of The Day we’ll take a look at one. The Hatsan Escort BTS12 is a bullpup,  gas-operated and magazine-fed semi-automatic shotgun. It looks great in tan! If fires 12 gauge shells from a 76 mm chamber, and the box magazines are available in 2, 5 or 10 shotshell capacity. The cocking handle is reversible and the top carrying handle is detachable.

Americans seem to make sport of almost anything, and today’s example is no exception.  Several sportsmen made lemonade out of lemons when it came to the invasive species of fish dubbed Flying Carp that’s been plaguing southern boaters since the 1970s, and have reached as far north as Minnesota.  Silver Carp, or Asian Carp, are termed Flying Carp because they literally fly out of the water when startled by a boat motor. The carp in question have caused injuries to boaters and have raised concerns over the aquatic ecosystems they’ve invaded.  People have taken to catching them with nets in the air, hitting them with baseball bats, and shooting them with bow and arrows… and most recently, shooting them with shotguns.

Adaptive Shooting Sports of Tulsa Oklahoma is offering free training for those with physical challenges to learn trap and skeet shooting and possibly a chance to learn how to teach others as well at their special training sessions. Adaptive Shooting Sports is an organization specifically geared to helping find ways for people with physical challenges to enjoy shooting sports.

Krieghoff have announced the introduction of a new 12 gauge competition shotgun based on their K-80. The new K-80 34” Parcours over & under shotgun has a longer barrel and an extended sight plane. The K-80 Parcours is available with either left or right-handed stocks and a choice of engraving patterns or a custom design.
