"Summertime Silence" Demo and Vendor Event by Silencer Shop and Texas Ordnance Depot

Since opening its doors in 2010, Austin, Texas-based Silencer Shop has proven to be a key player in the recent explosion of the suppressor market. Their efforts and innovations have done as much or more to make suppressors accessible than anyone else in the game. This accessibility and increased demand can then, in turn, be credited in large part with the proliferation of more manufacturers producing a supply of cans of ever-increasing quality at all price points from affordable to extravagant. If you’d asked previous generations whether they thought silencers would reach current levels of popularity, it’s doubtful whether they would’ve believed it. Although things aren’t perfect, in all we still live in a pretty great time to shoot quietly. Continuing their work to bring suppressors to the people, Silencer Shop is preparing to co-host a demo event on July 18th at Texas Ordnance Depot in Hico, Texas. The “Summertime Silence” official event description reads:

This wasn’t the first shoot that Baret had hosted behind the church that he is currently serving as a paster and hopefully it won’t be the last because everyone who came out had a safe and fun day shooting many of the interesting firearms that Baret brought out (essentially his entire collection), or personal firearms that were welcomed at the shooting tables under the watchful eye of the RSOs.

Surefire SOCOM 50 SPS – A New Fast Attach .50 BMG Suppressor

Have you ever seen a Suppressor for the .50 BMG in real life? I did the other week, and they are much larger than I anticipated. SILENCER SATURDAY #127: H&K SP5 Subsonic Ammunition Choices

Good morning everyone and welcome back to another edition of TFB’ Silencer Saturday brought to you by our friends at Yankee Hill Machine, manufacturers of the Turbo and Turbo K line of suppressors. Last week we discussed some buying tips for silencer newbies and many of you added advice from your own personal experiences in the comments section. Guidance like don’t wait for wait times to drop before buying, the market for used suppressors is almost non-existent and suppress the caliber, not just the gun, that you shoot the most, is all solid advice. As always, thank you for reading and sharing your knowledge. This week I wanted to touch on selecting ammunition for longer 9mm platforms. Specifically, H&K SP5 subsonic ammunition choices. Easy, right? Just pick a subsonic round and go to work. Hang on, we’ve got a bit of velocity estimation to do first.

Suppressed Nation Reviews the YHM Resonator K Rifle Silencer

Testing and evaluating silencers is no easy task. On the surface, the process seems easy – setup to record video and shoot the host/suppressor combination. Unfortunately, consumer-grade electronics are not capable of accurately recording the peak impulse of a gunshot. The most affordable option is a B&K 2209 analog decibel meter that has been out of production for years, costs about $3,500 used and still may not be able to record the short but extreme peaks of firing a shot. The next best option is the B&K Pulse System that is priced in new car territory and is a scientific instrument that requires training, proper setup and careful planning. My friends over at Suppressed Nation along with Hansohn Brothers, one of my favorite NFA dealers, have taken suppressor T&E to the next level. In their latest video they test the YHM Resonator K on a variety of different hosts and compare it to the YHM Turbo K with hard data from the B&K Pulse System to back it up.
