SILENCER SATURDAY #114: Die Another (Leap) Day – The Covert GSL Pill Box

Good afternoon everyone and welcome back to another edition of TFB’s Silencer Saturday brought to you by my friends at Yankee Hill Machine, manufacturers of the new Resonator K 7.62 suppressor. We continue last week’s rimfire suppressor host journey with a look at two very unique silencers – the GSL Pill Box and Pill Box Plus. Designed as “last ditch” devices, these Pill Boxes are the smallest rimfire silencers available on the market. Should you buy one for your NFA collection? Let’s take a look.

SILENCER SATURDAY #113: A Glorious Rimfire Silencer Setup – Perfectly Quiet

Good afternoon everyone and welcome back to another edition of TFB’s Silencer Saturday sponsored by Yankee Hill Machine. Last week we reviewed the YHM Resonator K 7.62 suppressor which is great for keeping a small profile while providing impressive performance. This week I wanted to return to a topic we discussed a few months ago – finding the quietest rimfire silencer host system currently available. Today we’ll be talking about the Henry Frontier Threaded Model in .22LR.

SILENCER SATURDAY #112: YHM Resonator K – Quiet, Short, Light, Affordable

Good afternoon suppressor fans and welcome back to another edition of TFB’s Silencer Saturday. Last week we dug into the Dead Air Nomad L, a very quiet can if you don’t mind a bit of extra length. On the other end of the yard stick (meter stick if you are a metric system junkie) is the brand new YHM Resonator K .30 caliber suppressor. Spoiler alert, for the money, there is probably no better option for a compact 7.62 that still performs well as a 7.62mm suppressor.

The TFB "Do It In the Dark" Desert Machine Gun Shoot at SHOT Show 2020

As the sun began to set in the southern Nevada desert, Industry Day at the Range came to a close. The targets were taken down, the firearms stowed and the products started making their way to the SHOT Show floor. Most would call it in, go grab a bite to eat and maybe hit the casino floor after a long day of walking, talking and shooting but the TFB writers. For us, as the sun was setting on Industry Day at the Range, the TFB “Do it In the Dark” machine gun shoot was just about to begin.

SILENCER SATURDAY #111: Size Matters! The New Dead Air Nomad-L

Hello everyone and welcome back to another edition of TFB’s Silencer Saturday brought to you by Yankee Hill Machine, home of the new MARC Bolt Action Pistol Chassis in 300BLK and .308WIN. Last week we discussed one of my favorite topics in the firearms world – suppressed subsonic pistol caliber carbines. For those progressives out there who have sworn off compact pistol carbines in favor of rifle PDW’s, we have a treat for you this week. Dead Air has finally announced the release of the Nomad-L, a longer and quieter version of the popular Nomad-30 released in late 2018. But does size, specifically length, matter that much? (I’ve always heard that it’s ok, size doesn’t matter, followed by sobbing and sympathy hugs).

SILENCER SATURDAY #110: GSL Phoenix – Best Subgun Can On Earth?

First off, I sincerely apologize for my clickbait title – I am mostly poking fun at a site that loves to use out-of-this-world headlines. Literally. But in all honesty, the GSL Phoenix (formerly the Gemtech MK-9K) could possibly be the best submachine gun silencer ever made. Keep in mind however, like the rest of life, there is no free lunch. But before we get into the review, welcome back to the 110th installment of TFB’s Silencer Saturday brought to you by my friends at Yankee Hill Machine, manufacturers of the new Resonator K rifle suppressor. Fresh off of the whirlwind of SHOT Show 2020 I have stacked up a few months of reviews, starting with the YHM Resonator K, the Dead Air Nomad L, and three from GSL Technology. We’ll kick it off today with the GSL Phoenix – a grail suppressor for me ever since the MK-9K went underground.

SILENCER SATURDAY #109: The 2020 SHOT Suppressor Show

Good afternoon everyone and welcome back to TFB’s Silencer Saturday brought to you by our friends at Yankee Hill Machine. Yesterday marked the end of SHOT Show 2020 which is always an awesome, but grueling week of early mornings, late nights and dozens of miles traveled on foot. Unfortunately for me, I spent most of my time in meetings for a special project we will be debuting in a few weeks. Which means I didn’t really set foot on the floor until Thursday afternoon. Thanks to our best-in-class team of writers and videographers, we were able to bring you a high volume of interesting new releases. I spent my limited time on the floor putting together images for a 2020 SHOT Suppressor Show.

[SHOT 2020] Hands on with Tactical Solutions' Owyhee Take-down Bolt .22 and Integrally Suppressed Barrels

The biggest new release from Tactical Solutions (TacSol) is actually quite small.  Weighing in at only 3.9 lbs and breaking down just forward of the receiver, the Owyhee mates a Magpul Backpacker stock with TacSol’s new Owyhee bolt action receiver and barrel.   TFB’s Pete has done a more in depth write up on the details, but seeing it in person was pretty neat.  Takedown and breakdown was easy to accomplish, as long as one remembers to retract the bolt first so as not to damage the extractor when slightly twisting the barrel for removal.

One Can To Rule Them All? The Griffin Armament BUSHWACKER 46

In general, I am not a big fan of “do it all” suppressors – the features that make them so adaptable can lead to just average decibel reduction performance. But Griffin Armament may have nailed the “one can to rule them all” premise with their latest release. The Griffin Armament BUSHWACKER 46 can handle everything from a big bore .45-70 lever gun down to a three lug 9mm pistol caliber carbine. I’ve been debating a Marlin Dark series rifle in a “monster Grizzly Bear ready” caliber and a dedicated silencer. But the BUSHWACKER 46 will allow me to swap it between hosts for the 99.9% of the time I’m not shooting .45-70.
