The Right Tool For The Right Job: Suppressor Socket Set

If we are talking about suppressors, accessories and related gear, I recognize that I may be part of the top one percent when it comes to a statistical overview of the NFA nerds in the U.S. More than likely it can be classified as an addiction or a mental disorder not yet recognized in the DSM-V – a publication of the American Psychiatric Association not the American Suppressor Association. So take it from a silencer lunatic – proper tools are the key to maintain your NFA investments without risking unnecessary damage. Take a look at the suppressor socket set from our friends at suppressortools.com.

TFB TUTORIAL: How To Fingerprint Yourself For NFA Applications

Due to the fingerprint requirement for National Firearms Act (NFA) applications, some people have sought the services of law enforcement, while others look to do it for themselves.  Just to clarify, you can fingerprint yourself when applying to the ATF to make a Short Barreled Rifle or Shotgun (SBR/SBS) and for suppressors.  When using your local sheriff’s office, you can probably expect to pay anywhere from $5 to $15 (my department charges $10), so if you’d like to save a few bucks, especially when you plan to submit multiple applications, doing your own fingerprints is a solid solution.

Pistol or Rifle? ATF Sneaking in More Arbitrary Firearms Regulations?

As if 2020 couldn’t get any more tumultuous, the ATF seems like it has taken a particular interest in stirring up the pot for firearms owners in these later months by sneaking further restrictive measures into current firearms laws. A recent interpretive change within the ATF could reclassify pistols and rifles based merely on the inclusion of rifle sights and the use of 5.56 caliber ammunition. Our source is Wiley.law which provides insight into various federal and state law changes.

The Rare Surefire MGX: A No-Recoil Light Machine Gun (LMG)

In this episode of TFBTV, James Reeves visits Surefire’s gun vault and looks at an incredibly rare find: The Surefire MGX. This light machine gun or “LMG” is something like the mix between an Ultimax 100 machine gun, an AR-15/M16, and a Stoner 63. This LMG has almost no recoil due to the timing of the recoil mechanism and the function of its operating system. And at the time this video was published, only TWO of these guns have ever been made. Check out today’s video if you like content about uncommon full autos.

Pen Guns Linked to Assassinations Seized in Afghanistan

Pen guns are unusual creatures in the menagerie of firearms designs. And no, that’s not a reference to the horror show “PEN-15” rifle assembled by TFB TV’s James “Questionably Frequent Phallic Jokes” Reeves with his motley crew of Mailroom series viewers and Discord members. Actual pen guns are firearms that are considered to be disguised to look like innocuous simple tubes like writing pens, hence the name. They are classified in the “Any Other Weapon”, or AOW category under the NFA (National Firearms Act of 1934) along with other such oddities like knife guns or umbrella guns. They are understandably uncommon, and most regular people who have production versions, like TFB’s own Nick C with his Braverman Stinger, consider them to just be “range toy” novelties. However, pen guns have a fascinating deeper history rooted in espionage, intrigue, and assassination.

SILENCER SATURDAY #144: Top 9mm Pistol Suppressor Hosts

Good afternoon fellow suppressor lovers and welcome to the pumpkin spice edition of TFB’s Silencer Saturday brought to you by Yankee Hill Machine, manufacturers of the new YHM R9  pistol, carbine and rifle suppressor. This week I wanted to run down some of my (current) favorite pistol suppressor hosts. Prepare your pitchforks since I am sure to include something you hate and leave off something you love.
