TFB Podcast Roundup 94: Competition and Anti-Drone Ammo
Welcome to TFB Podcast Roundup 94! As summer has marched on I’ve been spending a lot of time in the woods with an AK and a Glock practicing in advance of this year’s Finnish Brutality competition. However, aside from the brutality that awaits me in Finland, I can’t help but think about their neighboring country, Russia, and how the conflict between them and Ukraine has shown the world just how complex and widespread drone usage has become in modern conflicts. Naturally, my curiosity and mindset lead me down a specific path on the internet and that’s why this week a lot of our episodes focus mostly on Competition, as well as a cool episode by our friends over at The Gun Collective Podcast about some pretty wild alternative ammunition types including Anti-Drone ammunition. So as always sit back, relax and enjoy this week’s selection of gun podcast content!
The Rimfire Report: An Accurately Priced 22LR Bolt Gun – Bergara BMR
Hello and welcome back to another edition of The Rimfire Report! Last week we talked about the full-size 22LR trainer, the Bergara B14R. Bergara’s B14R offering is somewhat of a rare breed of rifle – it’s not exactly handy, or cheap, and I don’t think it’s supposed to be. The B14R is a perfect replacement for those looking to train for positional shooting for a PRS match, or for just getting more use out of your expensive Remington 700 chassis system. A far more affordable and handy option is the B14R’s little brother, the Bergara Micro Rimfire (Bergara BMR). The BMR features a lot of the same features that make the B14R great, but in a completely dedicated rimfire system that just happens to use a few key components that make it just adjustable enough for the end user to tweak it to their needs and preferences. Today we’ll check it out and I’ll give you my initial impressions on the micro-sized Bergara BMR.
TFB Weekly Web Deals 56: Summer Restocks on Guns, Gear and Ammo
Welcome to TFB Weekly Web Deals 56. With the Independence Day celebration over and your monthly paychecks worth of mag dumps accomplished in celebration of our great nation’s birth, it’s probably time to restock on some ammo and gear, and maybe even pick up a few new guns. There are a lot of hot releases to come later this summer which usually means that the current latest offerings of firearms, and optics will probably start to get deeply discounted as these newer options start hitting the online market. If you want evidence of that, just look at what happened to the price of the Trijicon SRO right before the Holosun 507COMP came out! While it’s not the latest and greatest (and I’m already starting to think that my 507COMP will permanently replace my SRO), the SRO is still a fine offering if you can get one on a deal and I do still think it’s leagues ahead of any other wide window red dot offering on the market in terms of raw durability. With that said, please enjoy this week’s assortment of firearm, gear, ammunition, and optics deals we’ve found for you.
SILENCER SATURDAY #286: DD Daniel SoundGuard SG-30 – First Impressions
Good afternoon everyone and welcome back to TFB’s Silencer Saturday brought to you by Yankee Hill Machine, manufacturers of the new YHM Turbo T3 5.56 rifle suppressor. Last week we ripped some suppressor headlines from the news. This week we get an initial look at the Daniel Defense Daniel SoundGuard SG-30 rifle suppressor. Since the big brown truck only pulled up yesterday, this will just be an introduction to the SoundGuard lineup and we’ll time the second part to drop around the same time James “gunshorts” Reeves releases his SG-30 video at TFBTV. Let’s take a look.
Firearms and Gun Handling of "Extraction 2" (2023). Part 2: Interview with the Movie's Tactical Coordinator
In part 1 of this article, we talked with Larry Zanoff one of the most prominent armorers in Hollywood who works for ISS, the company that provided weapons for “Extraction 2“.
TFB Preview: Q Boombox 8.6 Rifle – The Honey Badger Replacement
Kevin Brittingham and those maniacs at Q are at it again! If you’re not familiar, Q is the company famous for the Honey Badger rifle amongst many other innovations in the firearms industry. This time they have set their sights on producing a semi-automatic rifle chambered in the new 8.6 Blackout cartridge. Upon first impressions, it’s easy to see that Q has really turned the volume up to 11 on this rifle, even naming it “The Boombox” Ironically the only thing the Boombox shares with its 90’s counterpart is its name. It’s a meticulously well-engineered, lightweight, and mostly quiet rifle that spews out a massive piece of lead.
Concealed Carry Corner: Risks of Carrying and Drinking
Welcome back to another edition of Concealed Carry Corner. Last week, we talked about some of the top personalities in the concealed carry space. You guys did a great job in the comments section, so be sure to watch for part two. If you happened to miss that article be sure to click the link here to check it out. This week, I wanted to talk about a common issue that I see both in person and on the web. There are a number of people I know who will have a drink or two while carrying concealed. They often times say it’s no big deal and dismiss anything I say to them. There are some real issues with drinking while carrying not only legally but ethically as well. Let’s take a closer look at the risks of carrying and drinking.
Firearms and Gun Handling of "Extraction 2" (2023) – Part 1: Interview with Film Armorer Larry Zanoff
At the end of May, after some careful consideration, I canceled my Netflix subscription, only to find out a few days later that “Extraction 2” is coming out on Netflix on June 16.
Wheelgun Wednesday: Smith & Wesson Classic – What's Old is New Again
In this week’s Wheelgun Wednesday, we are going to turn back the clock a bit. In previous posts, we have talked about several double-action revolvers I own and am in love with. Specifically, some older model Smith & Wessons like the Model 27. The Smith & Wesson Model 27 is a favorite of mine because it has that iconic, classic revolver look. There is a mystique to it. It looks like it could be a “Dirty Harry” gun except that it is chambered in .357 Magnum. Guns like this are simply timeless because it makes us wax fondly back on a time when firearms had an air of elegance and beauty to them as well as functionality. While all of the original revolvers are very expensive and extremely difficult to hunt down nowadays, you can still get that old-school cool if you want via Smith & Wesson. They have the Smith & Wesson Classic series that has continued to grow and expand over the past several years – and while they don’t churn out a high volume on a yearly basis – they definitely have retained that gorgeous look and timeless beauty many of us search out. Let’s go back and revisit my old Model 27 while also seeing what the new Smith & Wesson Classic series has to offer.

TFB Weekly Web Deals 55: Independence Day Roundup
Welcome to TFB Weekly Web Deals 55! Tomorrow is Independence Day, so on behalf of everyone at TFB and TFBTV, Happy Independence Day! While this day is about celebrating the birth of our great nation, it’s also an excellent opportunity to take stock of everything we have because of not just the founding of this country, but the great people who came before us who have helped forge it into the best nation on this planet. Our founding fathers would have been unable to help instigate such a founding were it not for the arms, ammunition, and skilled gunsmiths they had around then. While the principles and purpose of the 2nd Amendment have not changed, the arms, ammunition, and gunsmiths have and we’re fortunate today to have access to some of the most cutting-edge firearms technology available on the planet, partially due to the fact that our access to arms is baked right into our nations constitution. In honor of that, and as is our custom here at TFB, let’s help celebrate our nation’s birth by sharing some great deals we’ve found for arms, ammunition, and gear in TFB Weekly Web Deals 55.
TFB Armorer's Bench: First Look - New Real Avid Master Gun Workstation

Contingencies: Upgrading With Meprolight Tru-Dot Irons to Co-Witness
In recent years, the use of red dot sights on handguns has gained significant popularity among most shooters regardless of their preferred platform, or shooting sport. Just 10 years ago finding an optic on a handgun was still fairly rare outside of the competition world and absolutely unheard of in the concealed carry market. Reflex sights provide several advantages, including increased accuracy, faster target acquisition, and improved shooting speed. However, combining red dot optics with co-witnessed iron sights can offer even greater benefits for shooters seeking versatility and reliability even beyond the simple concept of redundancy. Let’s face it, today’s red dot optics are extremely reliable, and in most cases, you won’t have to rely on your co-witnessed irons. So In this article, we will explore why utilizing co-witness sights in tandem with your red dot-equipped handgun is a good practice to adopt. To accomplish this we’ll be using a Glock 45 MOS handgun and Meprolight’s Tru-Dot series of replacement iron sights with a specific focus on their suppressor height sights which will serve as my co-witness sights.
Concealed Carry Corner: Top 3 Carrying Stereotypes in 2023
Welcome back to another edition of Concealed Carry Corner. Last week, we talked about flying with a carry gun. If you happened to miss that article, be sure to click the link here to check it out. This week, I wanted to look at some of the personalities I’ve started to notice more and more over my time in various gun shops and events. Keep in mind this is to have fun and point out certain things in the community that may not be perfect. Let’s take a closer look at some carrying stereotypes.
Wheelgun Wednesday: 'Dangerous' Saturday Night Special – Why Illegal?
You might have heard the term “Saturday Night Special” before if you’re old enough – and while that might be dating yourself (me included) – there is an entire generation of new shooters who are unfamiliar with that term. As old and outdated as that turn-of-phrase is, there are numerous states that still have Saturday Night Special gun laws. So, what are those laws? And, how does it pertain to our beloved revolvers that we appreciate so much?… Let’s dive into the widely unheard yet hampering laws surrounding Saturday Night Special handguns which blanket covers semi-autos and wheelguns.
Sponsored Content: Experience the Revolutionary RISE ICONIC Independent Two-Stage Trigger
Traditional captive two-stage triggers have a give and take relationship between pull weight and crispiness because one part controls both stages. However, with the ICONIC trigger, this issue is a thing of the past. It features two independent stages with separate mechanical components, eliminating the compromise.
Israel's Meprolight Mepro M21 Dual Illumination Reflex Sight
The Meprolight Mepro M21 reflex sight has an extensive history with foreign armed forces that spans several decades now. It was first introduced in the early 2000s and was quickly adopted by its country of origin as a standard-issue optical rifle sight. Originally developed to meet the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) requirements, the M21 underwent rigorous testing and evaluation to ensure its suitability for Israel’s military applications. The IDF needed a robust reflex sight that could withstand demanding combat conditions while providing rapid and reliable target acquisition capabilities without the need for extra components like batteries. Since its introduction, the M21 has been in service for almost two decades and was used in conflicts by nearly all combat units in the IDF.
HOT GAT or FUDD CRAP? Hundred Dolla Bills or Hundred Dollar Skills?
Welcome everyone to the 196th edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – is this Gat a sweet deal or only have Fudd appeal? Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article.

The Rimfire Report: .22LR Vs. 700 Yard Soda Can
Hello and welcome back to another edition of The Rimfire Report! This ongoing series is all about the rimfire firearm world and its many types of guns, gear, shooting sports, and ammunition types! Today’s Rimfire Report is a sort of guest post by Nicholas C. Last February Mike aka Garand Thumb released one of the most highly anticipated videos on YouTube. The infamous 22 Man who claimed he could hit a soda can 700 yards away with a 10/22 and iron sights. Well, I decided to gather my friends to see if we could replicate the result like on Mythbusters. We managed to hit a 700 yard soda can with .22LR but it was not easy.
TFB Weekly Web Deals 54: Launch Early on Independence Day Deals
As we gear up for Independence Day this year, let’s stop and take a minute to be thankful for this great country we have – specifically because of arms. There is an interesting quote that floats around on the internet that I often like to think of when it comes to the very core concept of the 2nd Amendment: “God made men, Sam Colt made them equal.” This quote, even though it was part of a marketing campaign, just reaffirms the idea that, at least in this country, firearms are one of the key concepts of maintaining one’s freedom regardless of what type of life you’re born into. Finding and buying affordable arms and ammunition used to be a heavy investment, usually involving going to a local gun show or perhaps even a county gun show. Fast forward to today and we’ve got more options than you can count in terms of places you can buy arms and ammunition for relatively decent prices. So in the spirit of 1776, and the founding of this great nation, we’re going to be taking a look at a bunch of deals from around the net that are popping up in anticipation of this year’s Independence Day celebration.

Friday Night Lights: Thermal Camo 2.0 – Testing Resumed
Thank you for joining us here at TFB and specifically my Friday Night Lights series. This week I will be showcasing some results from my Thermal Camo 2.0 tests where my friends and I resume testing off-the-shelf products as thermal camouflage.
Romanian AKs: The Best Among The Worst, The Worst Among The Best. Part 3

Concealed Carry Corner: How To Fly With Your Carry Gun
Welcome back to another edition of Concealed Carry Corner. Last week, we discussed training like we fight and the importance of consistency. If you missed that article, be sure to click the link here to check it out. This week, I want to talk about a subject that most people who carry concealed either avoid or are just too nervous to attempt. Flying with a firearm is one of those things that most aren’t willing to do because they feel like it’s either too difficult or just not worth it when traveling. Over the last few years, I have flown a number of times commercially with a firearm, along with just recently private as well which is certainly a completely different experience. Let’s take a closer look at how to fly with your carry gun.

TFB Podcast Roundup 91: More Easy Firearm Listening
Welcome to TFB Podcast Roundup 91! It’s refreshing to see the online gun community getting back to actual discussions on niche firearm topics rather than constantly worrying about the latest drama taking place within the firearms industry. I know a couple of weeks back, one such story became so big that we even covered it here twice on TFB, several podcasts have even talked about it since then. Personally, I find podcasts to be an invaluable source of entertainment, especially during long drives or flights. They provide the perfect backdrop for my travels and allow me to stay up to date with the rest of the firearms industry that I might not interact with as much. Hopefully this week you can find something that interests you and learn something, or catch up on general firearms news yourself. As always, sit back, relax, and enjoy this week’s selection of gun podcasts!

Let’s dive right into this closer look at the Real Avid Master Gun Vise!
