Concealed Carry Corner: Must-Have Items For Summer Carry

Welcome back to another edition of Concealed Carry Corner. Last week, we took a look at what happens when things completely break and what indicators show before they do. If you happen to miss that article, be sure to check out the link here. This week, I wanted to take a closer look at some of the things I carry every day when I wear shorts in the summer. When the weather starts to get hot outside, the last thing you want to do is start fatiguing with a large framed firearm rubbing against your side. Certain people will say they do carry a full size in the summer and that’s perfectly fine but for the vast majority of people, it can become challenging. Let’s take a closer look at some must-have items for summer carry.

Wheelgun Wednesday: Ruger Super Wrangler!… We Told You 3 Years Ago

When it comes to the world of wheelguns we love to see innovation, revitalized designs, and unique offerings wherever we can. We have already been drawn in by the allure of these timeless classics so now we want to be captivated by something we may have not seen before. Conversely, some companies are known for certain things and it’s like you could almost predict what is coming next … know that their logical conclusion is. In regards to Ruger and their overwhelmingly popular Wrangler, that is exactly what we did at TFB. Almost 3 years ago we predicted that a Ruger Super Wrangler would one day appear. So, yeah, we told ya so.

TFB Podcast Roundup 81: The Evolution of Aftermarket Parts

Hello and welcome to TFB Podcast Roundup 81. One of the episodes in this week’s roundup really caught my eye as it’s something I’ve messed around with quite a bit – aftermarket parts. No matter your opinion on the subject, it’s clear that the aftermarket parts scene has not only evolved and changed over the years, but with the advent of 3D printing and a much broader appeal for firearms in recent times, it’s becoming a massive wing of the growing firearms industry here in the USA. Scott Volquartsen and Chad Wittrock of Volquartsen’s No Excuse to Miss Podcast talk about this specific subject and I think if you’re going to pick just one podcast to listen to this week, it’d be this one (right after the TFB Behind The Gun Podcast). As always, sit back, relax, and enjoy this week’s selection of gun podcast listening.

TFB Weekly Web Deals 45: The Annual Spring Reload

Hello and welcome to TFB Weekly Web Deals 45! Spring is a great time to get a solid inventory of your guns, gear, and accessories for the rest of the year. It’s a shame that some of the bigger sales of the year don’t happen until at least Independence Day as I usually use this time to take a full inventory of my guns, gear, and ammo and then either sell off stuff I don’t need or reload on some consumables I am starting to run “low” on. Today’s deals are the kind of things I buy quite frequently buy extras of. Let me know in the comments what your annual reload purchases are and where you normally get them from.

Manufacturers Rush To Export Thousands Of Pistol Stabilizing Braces As Amnesty Deadline Looms

With the on-paper legality of pistol stabilizing braces in question here in the United States, it appears that other countries and their militaries are taking advantage of the same equipment at a firesale price. According to a source within the pistol brace industry, manufacturers have made agreements with dozens of foreign groups to provide them with pistol stabilizer braces for various platforms including the AK-47, M4/AR-15 platform, as well as several large orders for PDW style braces, presumably for MP5 pistol platforms. Although adopting the use of pistol-stabilizing braces may seem strange for a military unit, American Mercenaries have used pistol braces in the past. As the pistol brace amnesty deadline looms over our heads, are pistol brace manufacturers making a desperate move to secure their livelihood?

Concealed Carry Corner: When Things Completely Break

Welcome back to another edition of Concealed Carry Corner. Last week, we talked about the problems of carrying an ultra-lightweight pistol. If you happened to miss that article, or want to check it out be sure to click the link here for more information. This week, I wanted to talk about something we all eventually go through if we carry a firearm every day. Murphy’s law states that anything which can go wrong will go wrong and some days that’s the absolute truth. all kinds of things can break if you put them under heavy use or just use them daily. Over time things wear out and it’s important to keep an eye out for these signs. Let’s take a closer look at what you can do to avoid the moment when things completely break.

Welcome everyone to the  TFB Armorer’s Bench! As mentioned in the little blurb below, this series will focus on a lot of home armorer and gunsmith activities. In this article, I decided it has been a while since we have done a step-by-step article. This one will be pretty straightforward but hopefully, some Banish 45 owners out there find it helpful. Sometimes suppressor parts cannot or are suggested against using an ultrasonic cleaner which is my typical go-to for cleaning lead and carbon fouling. That is why today we are using the old water and soap method. Let’s dive right into cleaning a Silencer Central Banish 45!

Firearms of Cinema: Guns from "The Book of Eli"

If you’re anything like me, then movies have been a huge influence on your love for firearms. Whether it’s classic movies like Heat, Die Hard, or True Lies, all of these movies made an impression on me when it comes to what I thought was a cool movie firearm. One of the newer movies on the list, Denzel Washington’s post-apocalypse action movie The Book of Eli, is another great example of a movie full of cool guns. While there is everything from full autos to a civil war era Gatling gun, I want to focus on the main character’s firearms and why he may have chosen them. Let’s take a closer look at the guns from The Book of Eli.

Concealed Carry Corner: The Major Problems With Lightweight Pistols

Welcome to another edition of Concealed Carry Corner. Last week, we talked about buying or building out your carry gun for self-defense. If you happened to miss that article, be sure to click the link here to check it out and get caught up. This week, I want to talk about a common issue I see in the community when it comes to smaller carry guns. Going with a smaller concealed carry gun is oftentimes a mistake people new to the community make, but I’ve seen just as many knowledgeable people make this same mistake. The silver lining is the fact many companies have fixed this issue by adding capacity and adding weight to the frame making the handgun have a better balance in your hand. Let’s take a look at some of the major problems with lightweight pistols.

Wheelgun Wednesday: Red Dot Compatible Holsters From Speed Beez

Thanks for joining us for another TFB Wheelgun Wednesday, where we cover all topics that revolve around revolvers. Somehow, we seemed to have missed the advent of red dot compatible holsters from Speed Beez, until I stumbled upon Resputin’s Reddit thread, from which he gave us permission to use his photo you see above. Attaching red dot optics to pistols and revolvers isn’t exactly new, but finding holsters for revolvers equipped as such will still yield few results. What’s more, is that Speed Beez even has an option to cover the large red dot optics typically seen on Smith & Wesson’s TRR8 and R8 revolvers, while other options are geared towards the standard and micro-sized red dots.

TFB Weekly Web Deals 43: Get Lucky with Post-St. Paddy's Day Deals

Welcome to TFB Weekly Web Deals 43! I hope everyone’s St. Patrick’s Day weekend was not only full of many libations and good conversations, but also plenty of shooting! The Irish certainly had their own influence on the modern firearms culture we see in the world today and in fact, the Irish were some of the first people to document the use of arquebuses by German mercenarians operating in Dublin in the latter half of the 15th century. A more familiar and modern influence from Ireland comes from John Rigby when he founded John Rigby & Co Gunmakers Limited in 1775. Today Rigby makes very high-end hunting rifles and is now under the ownership of the L&O Group, which also owns Blaser, Sauer, and Mauser. Anyway, this has nothing to do with any of the deals that we’ve gathered for you today, but I did want to share this tiny bit of Irish firearms history with you all! Enjoy this week’s deals in TFB Weekly Web Deals 43!
