The Rimfire Report: The Mobius 22LR 1911 Conversion from Vudoo Gun Works

Hello and welcome back to another edition of The Rimfire Report! This ongoing series is all about the rimfire firearm world and its many different types of guns, gear, and shooting sports! Last week we took a look at Springfield’s new 2020 Rimfire rifles which are not only compatible with 10/22 pattern magazines but also come in a wide variety of options running from the budget-friendly target models to the more refined AAA Grade Turkish Walnut Classic editions. More match ammunition is on the way so we can do some more serious testing with those rifles to see if they can be honed in a bit in the accuracy department (we’ll also be using more suitable optics for making tight groups). Speaking of match-grade ammunition, it seems that just about every firearm I’ve had the opportunity to review in recent memory has either needed or would have benefitted from match-grade rimfire ammo – and that rings true for our subject this week: the Vudoo Gun works Möbius 1911-22 Conversion. Vudoo’s own offering to the competition and target grade 22LR pistol is an amalgamation of Vudoo Gun Works’ Möbius 1911 pistol and their 22LR conversion assembly that claims to be capable of producing a sub 1″ group at 50 yards with match-grade ammunition. I don’t have match-grade pistol ammunition just yet, but today we’re going to test out the Möbius 22LR pistol with some other common ammo we do have to get some initial impressions on it.

How Many Guns Can One Person Own?

Just for the record, no, I haven’t started writing for the mainstream media, and if someone asked me “How pro-gun are you?”, I’d show them a photo of a battleship. We’ve all had a good laugh whenever the media announces that someone was found with “an arsenal” that included two pistols, a rifle, a scope and (gasp) 1000 rounds of ammo. However, the question still remains, how many guns can one person own? I suggest there are several limits – let’s explore.

Trijicon Officially Announces the New RMR HD and RCR Red Dots

You’ve all probably seen it leaked on social media by now but today is the day – Trijicon has officially announced the introduction of the new larger and updated RMR HD, and the new enclosed RMR footprint RCR or Ruggedized Close Reflex sight. I’ve had the opportunity to use both of the new optics, first at an official Trijicon media event hosted several months back, and now for the past month or so as I’ve had both optics in hand. Put simply, both of the new reflex sights from Trijicon carry over some of the same improvements to the RMR line including better windage and elevation adjustment clicks (more tactile and audible), as well as greatly improved brightness adjustment buttons that feel much better. However, the similarities end there and both optics feature a drastic departure from the established RMR line.

In this edition of The Rimfire Report, we will go over the advantages and disadvantages of both dedicated 22LR AR rifles and 22LR AR conversion kits, to help you make your decision based on your budget, shooting requirements, and overall firearm preferences.

The full force of the intense summer heat is out this year and I’m looking for almost any way to stave off the sweat before we finally make it to fall. However, there are always a few odds and ends I’m looking for that I’m really just waiting for the right price on. I’ve included a couple of my personal selections down below as well as recommendations from both our TFB staff and our faithful TFBTV Discord supporters. Let’s take a closer look at my interpretation of a carry gun size guide.

The Rimfire Report: A First Look At Springfield's New 2020 Rimfire Rifles

Hello and welcome to another edition of The Rimifre Report! We’ve had a lot of awesome rimfire rifles released this year and I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to review the vast majority of them as they came out. While I was still working with the Bergara rifles we reviewed a couple of weeks ago, I also received two of Springfield’s newest rifles that were officially released to the public today. Springfield’s new 2020 Rimfire rifles are 22LR scaled-down miniatures of the company’s previously released Model 2020 line of premium bolt action hunting rifles. What’s cool about these new rifles is that they’re compatible with standard 10-round Ruger 10/22 magazines, and also feature a new 60-degree bolt throw with tons of other cool features packed into the guts of the rifle to give it an edge over other bolt-action 22LR rifles in its class. So today I’ll be giving you my first impressions of one specific model – the 2020 Rimfire Classic.

Concealed Carry Corner: Levels Of Carry Guns

Welcome back to another edition of Concealed Carry Corner. Last week, we took a look at whether it’s better to be self-taught or start off by taking training. Both had their perks and it was a great conversation in the comments so thank you to everyone who left their thoughts in the comment section. If you happened to miss last week’s article, be sure to click the link here. Recently I’ve heard a number of people say they don’t want to carry a concealed firearm because it’s too expensive to get set up. I think it’s a common misconception to think it costs a huge amount of money to get set up as a concealed carrier. Let’s take a closer look at some levels of carry guns.

The Rimfire Report: The PT22 – Taurus' 22LR Pocket Rocket

Hello and welcome back to another Edition of The Rimfire Report! This ongoing weekly series is all about the rimfire firearm world and its many different types of guns, ammunition, and history! Recently we’ve been looking at a lot of modern releases like the Bergara BMR and B14R, even the Taurus PT22 and there is another brand new 22LR semi-auto pistol that will be hitting the market soon! So in light of all the new stuff coming out, I wanted to take a gander back at one of the neatest, and maybe most useless types of handguns on the market – pocket-sized 22LR pistols, and in particular the Taurus PT22. The Taurus PT22 is a pocket-sized semi-automatic pistol that offers a compact and lightweight design, making it an ideal choice for concealed carry and personal protection – if you believe that 22LR is suitable for your needs in that department. Today, we will delve into the specifications and features of the Taurus PT22, discuss the suitability of the .22 LR cartridge for self-defense, share insights from range experiences, and ultimately figure out where it stands compared to similar firearms in its class.

TFB Weekly Web Deals 57: Get the Lead Out with These Summer Deals

Hello and welcome to TFB Weekly Web Deals 57! Ammunition is probably the single biggest and most ever-present cost you have in your life as a firearms owner. The Unstoppable SCAR 17 Meets Immoveable VCOG

The United States Marine Corps made the decision back in early 2020 to equip its infantrymen with a universal weapon optic by adopting the Trijicon VCOG (Variable Combat Optical Gunsight) 1-8×28 riflescope as the Squad Common Optic (SCO). After an extensive evaluation process, Trijicon emerged as the chosen manufacturer for the SCO along with their 1-8x28mm VCOG optic. The contract would secure about $64,000,000 for the 19,000 units the USMC ended up ordering and delivery began in February of 2021 with the final units being delivered sometime this year (2023). The optic was meant to be primarily fielded on the M4 carbine and the M27 IAR (Infantry Automatic Rifle). However, as stated by the Marine Corps themselves, the optic is intended to be as ammunition and weapon system agnostic as possible which should mean it can easily be adapted to be effectively used on virtually any platform. Today we’re going to put that theory to the test by putting the legendary durability of the Trijicon VCOG up against the unstoppable force that is the FN SACR 17 – a rifle that is infamous for destroying nearly every optic put on it.

Concealed Carry Corner: Self-Taught vs Professional Training

If you happened to miss that article, be sure to click the link here to check it out. This week, I wanted to look at another topic I get more questions on than expected. With current events around the country, there has been an uptick not only in new concealed carriers but also in women who want to carry concealed firearms. There have been a fair number of people interested in getting their concealed carry license but get anxious about taking a class for the first time. Many have said it’s best to go out and shoot on your own first while others preach to get training first so you learn to shoot correctly. Let’s take a closer look at self-taught vs professional training.
