SILENCER SATURDAY #97: Shotgun Suppressors – Worth It?
Good morning everyone and thanks for joining us for the latest edition of TFB’s Silencer Saturday brought to you by Yankee Hill Machine – manufacturers of the new Resonator R2 with adaptable interface (additional information below). Last week we took you through the basics on how to buy a silencer; an important topic but admittedly a real snooze-fest. One commenter requested some extra hot baffle action for this week, literally pushing a suppressor beyond manufacturer recommendations. While I’m not ready to torch a perfectly good can, the point was taken – let’s spice it up this week with a look at shotgun suppressors.
POTD: Texas Dove Hunt, First Person Shooter Mode
This Photo Of The Day comes to us from Redditor “AnotherFishTail”. The photo was from a screen capture from AnotherFishTail’s GoPro video camera. Despite the grainier composition of the photo, it still captures the spirit of the moment and allows the viewer to imagine they were there. The photo of the dove hunt seems to broadcast the heat of the sun, the dust in the air, and the flutter of dove’s wings.
The New "Do-It-All" CZ 1012 Shotgun from CZ-USA
The CZ 1012 is the next step in the continuing evolution of the CZ semi-auto shotgun line. The CZ 1012 makes use of a gas-less spring bolt operation. A “do everything shotgun” the CZ 1012 features a gas-less recoil system. The system uses a spring within the bolt to store energy during the recoil of the shotgun and retains it for a short moment until that energy is released to unlock the two lug bolt head from the barrel extension and extract the empty shell.

POTD: One Way To Mount A Rifle In A Tractor
If you’ve seen a tractor in a field, you may have wondered how you’d mount a rifle or shotgun to it. Such queries have been discussed in forums for all types of vehicles on occasion. AR15.com member and farmer, Griffin86 posted pictures of how he secures his rifles in his enclosed cab John Deere tractor. When I saw his post, I was quite intrigued and he gave permission for me to share his photos here with you.
TFB FIELD STRIP: Mossberg 500
Welcome to the TFB Field Strip series. We’ll be disassembling a Mossberg 500 in this edition. The field strip process for the Mossberg 500 is very similar to the 505, 510, 535, 590, 835, as well as the Maverick 88 and 91 models. The only real significance being whether your model has a captured takedown screw on the barrel assembly, or a removable cap at the end of the magazine. Before we get started, the four gun safety rules are listed below as a reminder.
The Night Manager Shotgun Extension & Accessory Mount By Choate
The Choate Machine and Tool company has released a new shotgun magazine extension tube, named the Night Manager, that doubles as a mounting point for weapon mounted lights and lasers. The installed Night Manager offers an extra two rounds to the shotgun’s capacity. The tube is drilled and tapped to accept Picatinny rail sections for mounting accessories. A sling attachment loop is also included in the kit and is cut to accommodate the end user’s preference on its placement at the 3, 6 or 9 o’clock positions.
New TFB Series: FIRST FIREARM, Introduction
Welcome to TFB’s new series – “First Firearm”. In this series, we’ll cover topics that apply to choosing your first firearm. As responsible gun owners ourselves, we want to help others with questions they may have and to provide solid knowledge with regards to what someone hopes to get out of their first (or perhaps only) firearm and to provide options that span the various budgets that people have at their disposal. Stay tuned for upcoming articles on specific firearm types, such as; semi-auto pistols, revolvers, rifles and shotguns as they pertain to how you may want to employ them.

Small arms influx into Nigeria… Y-man's perspective…
For a few years now, there has been an increasing trend of attempts to smuggle arms into Nigeria through the ports, hidden in sealed containers, and in false bottoms of trucks crossing the almost inexistent borders from the Benin Republic and from the North of Nigeria, too. Nigeria is currently one of the most restricted nations in terms of firearms ownership, and it is obvious that the system is being challenged. There has been an increase in seizures at Nigerian Ports and on Nigerian Highways. And the question is, for every container intercepted, for every truck stopped on the highway – just how many got through?
