MTM Case-Gard Shell Stack

If there’s one thing all gun owners have, it’s ammo – lots and lots of ammo. Finding ways to store said ammunition can be a bit of a challenge, especially if you’re looking at longterm storage or reloading. Thin cardboard boxes, although capable of showcasing colorful designs and brand logos, don’t stand up to the test of time. With that in mind, if you’re looking for a storage option that can stand up to the passage of time, take a look at what’s new from MTM Case-Gard: the Shell Stack.

Mexico's Gunshop

I ran across this story recently, and at face value I found it hard to believe, but after some digging it turns out to be true. I’d certainly like some of our Mexican readers to weigh in on it, but within the entire country of Mexico there is one legally operating gunshop, from which qualifying citizens can purchase firearms. Of course I am aware that Mexico has a large illegal firearms problem, but this is about legal firearms. The gunshop is on a military base, in Mexico City, and by Mexico’s constitution, the shop cannot even advertise its existence to the Mexican public. It is completely run by the military, with even military clerks behind the counter. It sells around six thousand firearms a year, mostly handguns in .22 LR to .38 caliber, and sporting rifles and shotguns, of which most are single shot if I read correctly. The display cases also appear to hold a number of modern day battle rifles such as ARs and Galils, but these seem to be just for display and not for sale. The prices are much higher than in the United States for the same firearms. This is probably because of the import taxes and similar regulations. They also have optics and various other accessories for sale.

Debunking – or Proving – Urban Home-Defense Legends With Hickok45

Home defense is one of the leading reasons for many gun purchases, partly because many people who either do not bother or are not comfortable carrying concealed still want to have a firearm in their home. That’s a discussion for another day, though. Today we’re taking a look at the ins and outs of a household appliance for providing cover. Remember, there’s a difference between cover and concealment, and there are also a number of stories and hypotheses going around regarding the ability of various appliances or pieces of furniture in those areas. Understanding the difference is important as is taking it into consideration in a home defense situation.

7,000 to 10,000 stolen firearms recovered

If you or anyone you know of, live in South Carolina and have experienced a firearms theft, it might be worth a shot to contact the authorities in Pageland, South Carolina with the description and serial number of the firearm. A man was recently caught with a warehouse of between 7,000 to 10,000 stolen firearms amid a number of other stolen artifacts as well. They mostly seem to be hunting rifles and shotguns. The guy also apparently used a system of thieves to build up this massive stockpile. What on earth was this guy waiting for? A chance to arm an entire regiment for the economic meltdown? Police are going to start going through all the firearms on Monday in an effort to return them to their rightful owners.

LEGO 1:1 glory

So a strapping young lad that goes by the username of MyDifferentUserName on Youtube, has over the years come out with over a hundred different LEGO 1:1 scale reproductions that have controls that function, but don’t actually propel a LEGO projectile or similar object like some other LEGO 1:1 scale productions. LEGO creations are nothing new on the Youtube or internet scene, but I don’t think anyone has made them to just the sheer quantity of this guy. Another interesting tidbit is the guy lives in the U.S. and has videos of going out and shooting “real steel” to borrow a phrase from the airsoft world. A certain amount of firearms replication occurs in places where it is harder or impossible to get ahold of actual firearms and thus people settle for their own creations, such as the .22 rifles in deactivated machine guns that we featured earlier, or the wooden replicas made by a teacher in the U.K. Regardless, this guy has everything from Lee Enfields, SCARs, Mini-guns, revolvers, the LSAT, break open shotguns, and much more, over 100 different firearms. Most of his inspiration seems to come from video games such as Counter-Strike, and Battlefield. But a few are historically inspired such as the Lee Enfield No.1. I can absolutely empathize with him on this point, because I myself built cardboard replicas of video game firearms when I was in elementary school, starting with models from video games, and later branching off into historical small arms. What I like about his videos that differentiate them from other LEGO firearm videos is that he goes in depth with each one, touching on history, operation, form and function.

Silencerco teams up with Nitro Circus

SilencerCo is really pushing up their ad campaign of “Fight the Noise” through a redesign of their website, and a partnering with Nitro Circus  in new video they just released on Youtube. I have to admit, their mouth taping and slogans of “We, the Suppressed” are a tad bit catchy. I will knock them immensely for the complete lack of eye protection in this video, hearing protection, alright I got it, suppressors. But no eye protection at all.

Cowboy Action Speed!

Deuce Stevens is an accomplished Single Action Shooting Society competitor and has a number of videos out online of him accomplishing what seem to be insane rates of fire for lever action rifles, single action revolvers, and break open shotguns. Some of his videos claim to have world records, but I’m not entirely sure where the verification for this comes from, and I don’t think he is up to par with Jerry Miculek. Regardless, this guy is pretty fast. My favorite clip is the last one of him transitioning with all three firearms. Now, my mind might be playing tricks on me towards the end, but it seems as if someone sped up the footage just a tad. Either way, these guys are performing at a level of Cowboy action shooting that I’m sure has taken a good amount of skill and practice.

Magnetic shotshell pellets

The popular Youtube user Taofledermaus has put some interesting things in his shotgun, much to our entertainment, but probably to the disadvantage of his own equipment. This time he had the idea to use magnetic balls as buckshot, loaded into 12 gauge shells. He experiments with two types, one a solid clot of magnetic balls, and the other with a hollow space in the center. In both situations, for the most part the balls fell apart in flight, but in some cases the balls stuck together. I can’t tell what advantage this would have, in any situation, because normal buckshot certainly does fine. But it is a neat idea and nice to see it in execution. The balls are 5mm in diameter. The other video I posted below this is an example of the odd stuff this guy shoots out of his Benelli Supernova…

Top 5 Best-Selling Guns – According to GunBroker.com

Gunbroker.com has released their best-sellers list, outlining the top 5 best-sellers for various categories of guns. Categories include both new and used and range from semi-auto pistols to revolvers to O/U shotguns and bolt-action rifles. There are a few surprises in there, like the Taurus PT111 being their number one best-seller in the new semi-auto pistol category, and some you’d expect, such as the Colt 1911 making first place for used semi-auto pistols. Remington makes a solid showing with the Remington 700 topping both new and used bolt-action sales and grabbing four of the five slots for pump-action rifles.
