Henry Repeating Arms is introducing nine new models that include engraved finishes for the Long Ranger rifle series and additional caliber options for the Single Shot rifle series. These new releases come less than a year after introducing over a dozen models at the beginning of 2018 as a result of customer feedback and suggestions.

ATA Arms might be one Turkish company to keep an eye out for in 2019 as the company is greatly expanding into a number of areas. Present at Indo Defense 2018 was their new ASR rifle and ATA 1955 semiautomatic 12 Gauge shotgun. Not at the show but currently in their R&D process is a multi-caliber rifle, a semiautomatic polymer handgun.

Nigeria has laws that restrict ownership of firearms to citizens being barely able to purchase and possess pump-action shotguns at the most, and single or double barrel shotguns generally. Aspiring gun owners need to be over 35 years of age, and al$o ‘qualify’ for the necessary licenses. [No error in the last sentence!] Licenses may only be approved by the President of the Federation [!] though this authority is delegated to 36 State Commissioners of Police.

A confidential source at Dam Neck Naval Base has recently shared photographs of the newest addition to the armory of the infamous direct action element within SEAL Team Six. Due to urgent operational requirements to work covertly in extremely hostile environments, DEVGRU (known for the OBL raid) recently had a rush purchase of what would appear to the naked eye as a craft produced shotgun. Apparently, this is exactly what the secretive force had in mind in order to clandestinely approach a target location and be able to have a breaching solution that wouldn’t alert civilians in the vicinity to the true nature of the mission. From what we know, it appears that any sighting of the force in the open would be more akin to a local gang collecting hashish revenue than an actual JSOC component in the wild.

Among a large number of airguns and airsoft, the third largest group of products at IWA are shotguns. Sure there are the boutique high-end shotguns but just as many if not more prevalent are tactical style shotguns made in Turkey. Remember the Akdal MKA1919? It is an M16 style semi-automatic 12 ga shotgun. Husan is expanding on the MKA line of shotguns and is making a Tavor styled shotgun.

Longthorne is a shotgun manufacturing company located in Northampton, UK. They make high-end over and under and side by side shotguns. This company is a relatively new one. It was established in 2010. What sets them apart from other companies is that they widely use modern technologies and unique design solutions. Particularly, they machine both barrels of double-barreled shotguns from the same solid block of steel!

In a surprise announcement at the 2018 SHOT Show, gunmaker Weatherby revealed that they will be leaving the state of California, where they have been based since their founding in 1945. The company’s new home will be Sheridan, Wyoming, the sixth largest city in the state, nestled beside the Bighorn Mountains, and close to the border with Montana. The move was announced with little notice on the floor during the afternoon of the show on Monday, with the Wyoming Business Council in attendance. Adam Weatherby, founder Roy Weatherby’s grandson, cited strong economic incentives from the Wyoming Business Council, as well as more freedom to develop new products without onerous legal restrictions as reasons for leaving California.

In the Soviet Union, arms designing was almost exclusively done in government armories and design bureaus. And only on very rare occasions, individuals could be licensed to design firearms. This article tells about one of such independent designers – a gentleman named Firs Barkanov. The article is based on the story published by the Kalashnikov Gun Magazine. A recent media video following a platoon of the Syrian Arab Army take over of al-Bukamal, a city in the eastern portion of Syria, on the border with Iraq shows a soldier with what appears to be the receiver, trigger guard, and stock of a shotgun (Remington 870 from the open source photographs) combined with what appears to be a four foot long pipe attached to it. Unfortunately, our only perspective of the weapon is from behind the soldier carrying it, which obscures the receiver, what would most likely be the pump action charger and the ejection port.

Founded in 1881 in Saint Etienne by a gentleman named Regis Darne, this company manufactures double-barrelled rifles and shotguns. What makes them unique among dozens of other European hunting arms manufacturers is the rather unusual sliding breech and tilt lever locking mechanism of their guns.

An improvised shotgun utilizing a revolving cylinder that appears to hold six 12 gauge shotgun shells was captured in a Nigerian Army operation in May of this year, capturing several alleged kidnappers on their way to committing a crime. Along with the improvised shotgun were several machetes, of which I’d probably be more afraid of doing damage with than the improvised firearm.

For the last few years, rifles and handguns have had all the optics development love. With a veritable plethora of magnified options for rifles and the explosion of small red-dots on handguns, shotguns have seen little movement – if only because of institutional inertia against optics on scatterguns. From personal experience, even having a semi-auto shotgun at the local range gets demeaning looks from the OWG’s.

When it comes to 3-Gun competitions and competitive shotgun shooting most all competitors are accurate. What can make or break someone’s score is their ability and speed in reloading. A company called Stageberner has come out with a product to speed up everyone’s reload times 2 shells at a time.
