In this episode of TFBTV, James Reeves reviews the new Ruger Security 9 Compact against the Glock 26. Both of these guns are similar: Polymer framed subcompact pistols sporting a 10+1 capacity in 9mm. Both are from good companies. But the Glock 26 costs almost twice as much as the Ruger Security 9 Compact. Which one is better? Does the Ruger Security 9 Compact even stand a chance? The review may surprise you.

In XX century very few weapons were truly ahead of their time. You can argue about many designs, and if they were actually innovative, but there is no doubt that when FN Herstal Browning HP was designed in 1935 it was way ahead of any competition.

The CZ P-10 C is quickly becoming an iconic pistol. Chambered in 9×19, the P-10 C has many features that other pistols in its category do not, while being more affordable than many of its competitors.  I’m not going to give a clinical description of the firearm — I’m here to tell you why I fell so deeply in love with this pistol and why it usurped the M&P and Glock as my favorite striker-fired pistol. This will be a three-part series through the evolution of pre-production to current manufactured P-10 series pistols.

A new machine pistol, the Tokat 571, has emerged from the IDEF (International Defense Industry Fair) in Turkey.  TFB reader, Stimpy75, sent us pictures and information from the IDEF 2019 fair, which included this new personal defense weapon.  The Tokat 571’s most noticeable features include a non-reciprocating slide cover and extendable stock.

The CZ SP-01 Phantom is a variant of the famed CZ 75 in the SP-01 line. However, the Phantom differs from the rest of the SP-01’s in that it is 14.5 ounces lighter than its steel framed predecessor. The Phantom weighs in at 26.2 ounces unloaded (according to my scale), while the steel framed SP-01’s weigh 40.7 ounces (according to CZ’s website). Thus, having a pistol almost a pound lighter than the standard model would feel like a ghostly rendition, comparatively. The SP-01 Phantom has been the standard issue sidearm of the Czech Republic’s 4th Rapid Deployment Brigade since 2012. The polymer framed Phantom was developed specifically with the military in mind. Having such weight savings makes a lot of sense for a secondary weapon that won’t see much action, but still has to be carried everywhere.

In this episode of TFBTV’s #NRAAM2019 coverage, James visits Naroh Arms for the ‘skinny’ (LOL pun) on Naroh’s new Naroh N1 single stack 9mm pistol. Naroh has already been in the gun business, manufacturing AR-15 parts and accessories, but they’ve decided to try their hand at manufacturing pistols, now, and they are starting with the ever-popular single stack 9mm category. They are no making an inexpensive 7+1 9mm pistol for the civilian market.

In this episode of TFBTV’s #NRAAM2019 coverage, James meets with Beretta to look at the new-for-NRAAM Beretta APX Carry. This tiny pistol packs 6 rounds of 9mm in a smaller version of the familiar and reliable Beretta APX pistol. This gun is geared towards CCW/EDC/concealed carry, and will be priced very fairly.

CZ-USA is mixing up their line with a number of old and new school guns. Traditionally, CZ has been known for turning out classic bolt action rifles and the legendary CZ-75 series. In the last few years, they have really been trying to diversify their line up of modern and classic firearms. This year at NRA is no different with several releases both for modern PCCs and classic style guns.

Wilson Combat has released the longer, 5″ barrelled version of their EDC X9 pistol. The new handgun is called EDC X9L. Just like its shorter barreled sibling, the EDC X9L is also chambered in 9x19mm and feeds from the same double stack 15-round magazines. The below-embedded animated image shows the differences between these two pistols.

As many of you know, for the last few years I have carried a P226 Elite religiously. To me, the P-Series from SIG Sauer is biblical and some of the best handguns to use daily. When the 320 was released to market a few years ago, I was interested, but it seemed like another standard service pistol. I have no issues with guns that are common but prefer something that’s out of the ordinary. It has to be completely reliable, so I held off when it came to the 320 because I didn’t have much experience with them.

Dressing for CCW as a young gun owner was a struggle for me. I’m 27,so I will admit I’m growing closer to the age of comfortable pants and fashion you would find in your dad’s closet rather than a cool trendy millennial. I remember when I turned 21, the concealed carry market was geared towards the 50- and 60-year-olds who loved rocking the cherished CCW vest that looks like a fishing vest. I thought it was terrible then and honestly, it never got cooler, it’s still awful!

The CZ SP-01 Tactical from CZ is one of the hottest selling models for CZ currently. It is based on the classic CZ 75 and then modernized for the 21st century The gun was launched in 2004 to accommodate the increasing number of weapon attachments on the market. Fast forward 15 years and the gun is still a serious contender in the DA/SA market.

In the last few years, there has been a massive increase in vehicle-based shootings. These shootings include police attacks, where officers are ambushed in their cruisers. Let’s be honest though getting into a gunfight at all is a bad day, and getting in a gunfight while in a vehicle just plain sucks.

Federal Premium turned a lot of heads in the ammunition industry when they came out with their original Syntech round. Those “lipstick” bullets as people called them caught a lot of eyes, and it was even more impressive once you shot them.
