Ruger‘s Security-9 has always been a pistol for the economically-minded shooter who wants protection. Affording the owner everything you might need with security, the common and cheap 9mm cartridge and packaged in an intuitive, affordable firearm. While this pistol might not have fancy bells and whistles, it checks all the appropriate boxes for a reliable and practical sidearm.

Up until Wilson Combat starting dabbling in Glocks and Beretta’s it was known as the bastion of all things John Moses Browning and .45ACP.  There was, however, a little-known polymer frame 9mm already upgraded by Wilson:  The ADP.  Originally designed by Alex Du Plessis in the early 90’s for South African Arms company Aserma (of revolving shotgun fame), The ADP was a bit ahead of its time in being a slim, gas-delayed ultracompact 9mm pistol.  Imagine if the Glock 43 had the gas delay of the HK P7 series.  That is in essence the ADP.  The concept itself is wonderful, but sadly like many other firearms, the execution was lacking.  Quality control from Heritage Arms, the original US based importer of these pistols, was lacking enough to give the ADP a bad reputation amongst consumers of the ADP when it was branded as the “Heritage Stealth.”  The most common complaint was reliability of the .40 caliber versions, as well as terrible materials and finishes.

It was some time late in 2016 that High Tower Armory, a small company out of Minnesota, announced that they would be making a bullpup stock for Hi-Point Carbine rifles. After a long time of refining and polishing this project they have their end product to unveil to the public. The MBS-95 (Modular Bullpup System) Conversion Stock is now complete!

The Arex Rex Zero 1 has made quite a splash since first getting into consumer’s hands. Touted and often proven as being more durable than comparable Sig pistols through countless endurance and mud trials, it is a definite hit with hammer-fire fanatics. Now to ride the popular wave of optic and suppressor ready pistols, a  Rex Zero 1 Tactical is finally becoming available in the United States courtesy of Fime Group.

Recently at TFB we reviewed the Tyrant Designs Smith & Wesson Shield +2 Magazine Extension that is suitable for both .40 S&W and 9mm. If you are looking to invest money in magazine extensions an equally valuable addition can be a crisp and clean performing extended magazine release. Russian  Kalashnikov Gun Magazine has published several images of a semi-auto pistol that was designed by MOLOT Oruzhie, but because of the changes of Russian legislation was never manufactured. The pistol had a model designation VPO-514.

Concealed carry pistols continue to be one of the consistent growing segments of the shooting industry. With the advent of more indoor ranges, more public discussion of firearms in the media and more people wanting to have a daily means of protection, concealed carry pistols are popular. A solid Top 3 in most regions of the country are the Springfield XDS-9, Smith & Wesson M&P-9 Shield and Glock 43. So what is one attribute that all three of these pistols share and a plethora of ones I did not mention?… Nearly all concealed carry pistols become, or serve the dual purpose, of being a range pistol. At the last Big 3 Eas t we met the great folks at Stern Defense. They have only been in the industry for a few months and showed off their Glock magazine adapter for use in Mil-Spec AR-15s. We got one of their MAG-AD9 and 9mm upper in for review.

Guncrafter Industries has released new 1911-style pistols called Hellcat X2. Although being based on the 1911 design, these pistols are fed from double stack magazines. Pistols with such layout are also known as 2011 pistols. Another key difference from the classic 1911 is that the Hellcat X2 is chambered in 9x19mm or .40 S&W.

SIG Sauer has announced the addition of SIG 365 9mm loads to their ammunition line. The new ammo comes loaded with two 115 grain bullet options: FMJ or V-Crown (JHP). It is not a coincidence that the new ammunition is the namesake of the company’s newest carry pistol (SIG P365). The SIG 365 ammunition is designed to perform best in the subcompact pistols which have relatively short barrels.

Shooters love to modify, alter and make their firearms their own personal masterpieces. The number one platform that firearm enthusiasts modify is the AR-15, but a likely close 2nd place would be a Glock. There is an overflowing abundance of aftermarket parts for Glock firearms.
