Florida-based Diamondback Firearms have announced the introduction of the Sidekick, a new 9-shot single and double action rimfire revolver. The Colt Single Action Army-styled Sidekick has a 4.5″ barrel, a smooth black Cerakote finish, and checkered polymer grip panels. The pistol will be available in November and has an MSRP of $320.

Florida-based Adams Arms have introduced the AA19, a new striker-fired, polymer-framed pistol. The company claims the AA19 brings together their experience and expertise with slides and barrels for custom handguns into one complete pistol. The pistol was initially unveiled at SHOT 2020 and is now about to reach dealers.

The HK416 is known for running without fail in all sorts of environments. This is why so many military and police forces have adopted the gun. It’s also known for being noticeably heavier than some other systems. Giving two new handguard options to HK416/MR556 owners (including one to save some weight), Strike Industries has released their new GRIDLOK handguards for the HK416/MR556/M27 IAR.

For many years, the AR-15 magazine game was overwhelmingly split between two main options. You could have regular metal GI mags, which were cheap and plentiful, or Magpul PMAGs, which were widely considered a functional upgrade, and not much else. In recent years, however, some challengers have arisen. While those big two still hold the lion’s share of the market, it’s become increasingly common of late to see shooters employ alternatives, like translucent Lancer mags or Hexmags with their signature “Hexture” surface design.

DRD Tactical is a firearms and parts/accessories company based in upstate New York, in the small town of Lyons Falls. The impetus for their founding in 2010 was a US Government whitepaper request for a 7.62-caliber rifle that could be transported in a briefcase. The company has since developed a series of rifles based largely on two key patents from that original concept, which became the Paratus rifle they sell today. These two features are a quick barrel change system and an internal recoil system. Their current lineup seeks to leverage these components in firearms that are meant to compete with more standard versions of fighting rifles like the AR-15, AR-10, and SCAR platforms, among others.

Maxim Defense have announced a new Urban Grey version of their PDX AR-pistol. The PDX was first introduced back in 2019 and has since been made available in a range of calibres including .300BLK, 5.56 NATO, and 7.62×39mm. Maxim Defense currently list the Urban Grey PDX at $2,065 MSRP.

In the pantheon of stories about the Wild West, “ Lonesome Dove” is often hailed as one of the best. Writer Larry McMurtry’s seminal novel was published in 1985, and earned the following year’s Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. A few years later, the book was adapted for a television miniseries screenplay starring dual leads Robert Duvall as Captain Augustus McCrae and Tommy Lee Jones as Captain Woodrow F. Call, two gun-slinging old Texas Rangers turned ranchers. The series enjoyed overwhelmingly positive reception and significant acclaim, as many critics have credited it with reviving the once-dead Western film genre. The series was nominated for eighteen Emmys in 1989, of which it won seven. As you’d expect for the category, the show featured many classic firearms like revolvers and lever-action rifles, of the style that Cimarron Firearms specializes in today.

Smith & Wesson‘s M&P series has seen significant success and tremendous expansion over the years. Although it’s best known for striker-fired handguns, including some of the market’s best-selling everyday carry/concealed carry-intended pistols along with some duty models, they’ve dabbled in some long guns as well. If you’re an adherent of the S&W brand and like the AR platform, they offer M&P rifles in 5.56mm NATO/.223 Remington, .22 Long Rifle, 7.62×51/.308 Winchester, and 6.5 Creedmoor. Fans of the Canik TP9 series won’t shut up about them, and for good reason. Canik’s pistols have been a big surprise over the last few years, impressing even some of the most seasoned shooters. Springboarding off of that success and listening to customer feedback, Canik has released an evolution of the TP9. This is the new METE Series.

It’s always cool to see the old mixed with the new. A 1911 in a leather holster doesn’t scream modern but the addition of a red dot optic changes that. With more people utilizing pistol-mounted dots on their daily carry guns, holster makers are delivering options that can accommodate them. Galco Holsters is one of those companies and they’ve just added new models to the Speed Master 2.0 line. The holsters are now available for 1911s with or without a red dot.

Savage Arms recently partnered with the Big Game Brew small-batch coffee company to feature their Renegauge shotguns and their Backcountry Xtreme rifle series. The Big Game Brew company donate a portion of their sales to conservation efforts around the country to preserve hunting habitats for future generations. The Savage Arms partnership includes one dark roast showcasing the artwork of Renegauge shotgun in use, and a medium roast featuring the art of a Savage Backcountry Xtreme rifle.

Night Vision Devices is a Pennsylvania-based operation providing low-light optical solutions for both US and foreign governmental agencies, as well as the growing civilian night vision market. Vortex Optics has announced the latest addition to their Razor HD LHT range, the 4.5-22×50 scope with a first focal plane reticle. The HD LHT lineup has been very popular with long range hunters and shooters. Adding an FFP option is sure to be a hit with the target audience.

If you’ve ever trained for (or actually been on) a two-way shooting range, you well understand the value of good body armor. Military and law enforcement work certainly require this lifesaving equipment, but many private citizens also choose to purchase plates in case of emergency. There are many different styles, manufacturers, materials available on the armor market, in widely varying levels of protectiveness and quality. Many shooters prefer NIJ level IV ceramic plates, and Spartan Armor Systems’ new Ares model fits this bill.

While SIG SAUER may be best known for their firearms, they offer a robust line of optics as well. Kowa have announced a brand new flagship spotting scope – the TSN-99 PROMINAR. Kowa are a Japanese optics maker with a US arm based in California. The TSN-99 PROMINAR is available for pre-order now with Kowa dealers.

US and Canada-based Modular Driven Technologies or MDT have announced a new 10 round metal magazine for the short action Accuracy International Chassis System (AICS) which they describe as “nearly indestructible”. MSRP on the new AICS magazine is $67.95.

Sometimes when you’re at the range, hunkered down with supporting bags for a precision shot, the rifle slips off the bag and you just can’t get a comfortable, stable position. Oregon-based Catalyst Arms, a company that specialises in rimfire accessories, has introduced the Apex Bag Rider, an extension for the Ruger Precision Rimfire’s buttstock. The Bag Rider is basically an extension that provides more surface area to contact the supporting bag. They have similar Bag Riders for the earlier Ruger Precision Rimfire buttstock and the Magpul PRS. MSRP is $49.95.

Blaser USA (importer of Germans firearm brands Blaser, Mauser, and J.P. Sauer) has announced that the Blaser R8 straight-pull bolt-action rifle is now available in 6.5 PRC. Similar in caliber to 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5 PRC has a higher impact velocity and a flatter trajectory, which makes it popular with long-range hunters.

Bushnell has updated their Elite Tactical riflescope lineup with new versions of the XRS and DMR optics, the XRS3 and DMR3. Though Bushnell is known for being a budget-oriented brand, their Elite Tactical line includes full-featured scopes that compete with many of the big-name long-range optics.
