This review started when I said mean things about Turkish shotguns online. My comments were generally targeting the gas-operated bullpup magazine-fed guns, but I have had a generally negative view of most Turkish shotguns. That opinion is based on a parade of Turk shotguns that have come through the shop where I work. As a category, they have more issues than shotguns of other origins. But they also have price points that tend to be much lower. I was soon contacted by a VP at Four Peaks Imports who threw down the gauntlet. He offered to send out a shotgun from their lineup because he thought shooting one would change my mind. I respect his approach of choosing a public hater as a potential reviewer, and letting the product speak for itself. I selected the Aksa S4, and in short order, it showed up at my FFL.

Midwest Industries Inc. recently announced their three new parts for the Benelli M4 shotgun, also known as the M1014 as named for the United States Marines. The new products Midwest Industries dished out are an optic mount, specifically for an Aimpoint T and H series red dot sights, an enhanced charging handle, and an M-LOK handguard. Beretta Defense recently announced that the whole Armed Forces of France have adopted the Benelli Supernova 12 guage shotgun in several configurations, making the Supernova the standard issue shotgun of the French military. Benelli will have a seven-year contract to produce the Supernova shotguns, with a contracted cost of €4,500,000. The convertible Benelli M3 (capable of both pump-action and semi-auto) shotgun is already in use in special French Army units, but the Benelli Supernova had to go through its own testing process, which was reportedly “severe,” but undisclosed at this time. Christophe Bannier, Director of military and law enforcement sales for Beretta Defense is quoted below.

Officially announced at the 2022 NRA Annual Meetings and Exhibits and set to be made available online and in stores soon is the new Federal Premium HEVI-Bismuth 20-gauge and 12-gauge shotgun loads. HEVI shot loads have started to become extremely popular with dedicated waterfowl hunters and this new HEVI-Bismuth load will give hunters a new industry-leading pellet composition to help fill their tags and at the same time, reduce lead exposure.

Remington Ammunition has just announced the addition of two new 12-gauge shotgun loads dubbed their Gun Club Cure line that aims to give back to families in need across the country by donating a portion of the proceeds from this new line to various children’s hospitals and disease research centers.

Nevada-based Mesa Tactical have introduced their latest shell carrier combined with an RMR mount. Machined from 6061-T6 aluminum, which is then anodized, the carrier can hold four or six shells and comes mounted with a Trijicon RMR. The mount is available for Remington, Mossberg, Beretta and Benelli tactical shotguns and has an MSRP ranging from $93 to $115.

Italian firearms are often nothing short of pieces of artwork as much as they are guns, especially when it comes to shotguns. Rizzini USA is the Utah-based importer of fine handcrafted Italian shotguns and rifles that range from legendary firearms like the Rhino Express chambered in .500 Nitro Express to their new BR110 Sporter IPS (Improved Performance System) 12-gauge O&U shotgun. This new shotgun is made from a combination of a Rizzini BR110 frame and handcrafted Turkish walnut stock featuring a fully adjustable rib that requires no tools.

Today’s Photo Of The Day is a set of pictures of a special James Purdey & Sons shotgun dubbed the US Centenary Gun. This shotgun was created in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of Athol Purdey’s first sales trip to the United States of America. This special Purdey gun was unveiled in January of the current year, at Dallas Safari Club Convention.

Safety, fun, and marksmanship – in that order. These are the goals of the USA Clay Target League. For those who don’t know, the USA Clay Target League is a youth-focused sport shooting league featuring over 1,400 homeschooled, college, and high school student teams that are spread out across the nation. This year the USA Clay Target League has seen some phenomenal numbers in terms of participation with over 31,000 student-athletes participating in the opening stages of the 2022 season breaking previous year’s records. With this news also comes the fact that the USACTL is in fact one of the fastest-growing school sports in the country.

GForce Arms is a company located in Reno, Nevada and they are apparently an importer of firearms made by a number of Turkish firearm manufacturers. The latest addition to their catalog is the  GFLVR410 – a 410 bore lever action shotgun. As seen in the owner’s manual of this shotgun, the manufacturer is a Turkish company called Faissi.

In this episode of TFBTV, James Reeves reviews an “expensive” Turkish shotgun, the Adler Arms HT108T. This pump 12 gauge shotgun is pitched as a “high end” Turkish shotgun, and, costing $400 MSRP, this is relatively expensive for a Turkish shotgun, with pumps from Turkey usually costing between $150 and $200. For the money, there are a lot of features: it’s got beautiful wood furniture, a nice gunmetal gray ceramic finish, fiber optic sights, an optic rail, and an integral muzzle brake. The Mossberg 940 Pro 12-gauge autoloading shotgun was released in 2020. Now the 940 Pro Turkey version is available in the Mossy Oak Greenleaf camouflage pattern.  The model is offered in two barrel lengths, 18.5″ and 24″. Both shotguns come optics-ready with receiver cuts to accept Shield RMSc footprint micro dot sights. Mossberg also claims that the gas system allows for up to 1500 rounds before cleaning.

The Browning A5 shotgun (also known as the Auto-5) is an almost legendary design that was first introduced in 1905 and was the first successful semi-automatic shotgun design. The shotgun remained in production unit l 1998 when it was discontinued by Browning. Now, Realtree and Browning have teamed up to update the Auto-5 in the form of the new Browning A5 Shotgun in Realtree MAX-7 camouflage. This new inertia-operated model was the successor of the original long recoil shotgun and builds on the legacy of reliability that its namesake has earned and adds some new features that make it more suitable for today’s modern sportsmen. Now hunters and outdoorsmen can take advantage of everything they love about the new production A5 shotguns but in Realtree’s MAX-7 camouflage.

Masterkey-style shotguns are very well known within the United States but they are also a rare find within the wilds of the firearms community. This is due mostly because of ATF regulations that turn such a shortened underslung shotgun into a short-barreled shotgun (SBS). The Turkish firearms company Akdas makes a wide variety of shotguns one of which is the AK12 UBS. The UBS comes complete as a somewhat odd-looking shotgun, but what makes it unique is that it can be detached from its stock and reattached to a Picatinny rail in a matter of minutes.
