TFB Review: The 5.11 Tactical Maverick Battle Belt

One of the most critical components when it comes to carrying a firearm is your belt. Without a stable platform to hold the weight of your pistol, holster, magazines, and IFAK, you’re in for a frustrating and embarrassing afternoon at the range. Of course, there are different considerations for concealed and overt carry, so let’s focus on the latter today. My wife recently attended the A Girl and A Gun National Conference and has since been in the market for a new battle belt. Due to the consistency of 5.11 Tactical’s gear, we thought the Maverick Battle Belt would be a great place to start. This is my…well, our review.

TFB Review: Magpul DAKA V800 GRID Organizer – Initial Impressions

For a long time, I have struggled with a pile of cases and foam that have accumulated over the years.  Something I imagine many gun owners can relate to is the pile of soft and hard cases that will inevitably stack up as you acquire firearms.  This problem is aggravated even more if you have pelican cases.  Not only will you have multiple bulky hard cases but piles of replacement foam cut into specific configurations for certain loadouts. That’s where the Magpul DAKA organizer comes in.

MDT Introduce The Budget ORYX Bipod

Bipods are invaluable assets for a variety of shooting activities. While there are really advanced ones on the market with all the bells and whistles, they oftentimes cost an arm and a leg, and not all applications require a high-end bipod. Now, if you want a bipod that won’t break the bank, there are innumerable offerings on places like Amazon, however, you have to be careful as these oftentimes leave a lot to be desired in terms of design and quality (don’t ask me how I know). One way to ensure a budget bipod won’t disappoint is to make sure it’s made by a reputable company. Well, there is a new option on the market – the MDT Oryx Bipod. With an MSRP of only $99.95, this is the most affordable bipod in the MDT Sporting Goods catalog.

If you were lucky enough to see our bathroom preview video of their new battle belts then you know these guys have a good sense of humor. Nonetheless, they ended up sending me a few of their belts at a discounted price. I have had the Low Profile EDC belt along with another belt of theirs for around seven months and have been testing it as my primary everyday carry belt with my Glock 43X up to the time of this review.

THROOM TARGETS Ricochet-Free Silhouette KnockDown Series

While a negligent discharge is at the top of my list of things to avoid on the range, there are other dangers to consider while shooting. Traditional steel targets cause bullets to fragment on impact. Those tiny pieces typically fly into the ground around the target, but every now and then, one will fly back and hit me. Thankfully, I’m smart enough to wear eye protection, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get hurt. Throom Targets gives shooters the option to avoid this issue by creating targets that allow your bullets to pass through them. This is the silhouette version of knockdown targets.

Creedmoor Sports Releases Inverted Know Your Limits (KYL) Target

The sound of ringing steel is one of the most satisfying sounds I’ve ever heard. If you’re a fan of precision shooting, you know that the absence of that distant ring can be crushing, and can change the entire course of a match. The PRS stage that has perhaps crushed the most souls is KYL, or Know Your Limits. In the case of the new Inverted Know Your Limits (KYL) Target from Creedmoor Sports, silence is the preferred result. Pass your round through the targets without hitting the steel to taste victory!

The Strike Industries Stacked Angled Grip Goes Picatinny

The advances in technology for accessories mean nothing without a solid platform on which to mount them. While high-end thin handguards can be plenty strong, some people still prefer the tank-ish quad rails of old. As someone who just ditched mine earlier this year, I get it. If you have a quad and also enjoy the use of an angled foregrip, here’s an option just for you. Strike Industries has made their Strike Stacked Angled Grip with Cable Management System compatible with Picatinny rails.
