And yes, another carbon fiber handguard.  Faxon had one for SHOT 2017.  Brigand Arms had one in 2016.  Many companies have produced one, and a few also have integrated Picatinny rails like the one in the below press release.  A difference is that this handguard from Tacstar looks to come in at a lower price point than many others with the same features.

James at TFBTV recently did a video review of the Sig 365 and found the weapon to, well, go see for yourself if you haven’t watched it…  That being said, we are now seeing some aftermarket gear for the 365, and in this press release, specifically a holster from Tulster.  Tulster had some fans for their HK VP9SK holster.  The real question is how did they get their hands on a Sig 365 to pattern the holster?

Recently an article has been circulating that the ARMY Research Lab is looking into a Steadicam third arm system to augment soldiers. Matthew Moss posted about it earlier this month. The idea is to help soldiers save energy by carrying the weight of their weapons. Before this article came out I already had plans to convert a Steadicam rig to hold a gun. Thanks to my friends, we were able to test my Steadicam third arm.

At Big 3 East, the guys at Giesselle quietly showed me something they are working on. It is a very early prototype and I was under NDA until today. They are working on making an trigger for H&K style roller locks. As you can see in the photo above and below it is a Giesselle MP5 trigger.

Recently, after a successful week of hunting in the Tyrol region of Austria, I had a free day to spare before my flight.  While visiting some friends in Kufstein, I toured the Festung Kufstein, or Kufstein Fortress.  If one is traveling to Bavaria, Tyrol, or South Tyrol and are going anywhere near Innsbruck, the Festung Kufstein is worth a stop (just don’t forget to purchase a vignette toll sticker before entering Austria!).  Though better known for having the world’s largest outdoor pipe organ, the fortress has some pretty great arms-related exhibits.  Tucked away in a tower was one exhibit in particular that I found fascinating:  hand-painted targets of the 19th and twentieth century.

The last time I professionally celebrated Saint Patrick’s Day, my friends and I used a Super Soaker water cannon to “hyper-drink” Guinness by the pint. And even though that may have be 20+ years ago, I can’t in good conscience recommend such irresponsible activities to anyone outside of your worst enemies. Unfortunately, an inevitable result of any large-scale military counter-insurgency operation are unintended, innocent civilian casualties otherwise known as collateral damage. The questions stated to military planners are not “If” but instead “When”. How any modern Infantry forces works through this sort of preparation can sometimes determine the difference between winning and losing against a determined insurgency of any time.

Often completely overshadowed by the larger SHOT Show, the Antique Gun Show is strategically held during the weekend after SHOT Show (although this year it was held the weekend before). Although possibly not the best antique show in the United States, it certainly ranks highly up there with the quality of firearms brought into it. The majority of everything sold within this show is from the 1800s and early 1900s, with even a few older firearms as well. And unlike SHOT Show which is strictly regulated to media and industry folks, the Antique Arms Show is open to the general public for a small admission fee at the door. Apparently, for the first time since attending SHOT, TFB was able to pay a visit and bring to light a number of the more interesting pieces on display. Although not comprehensive of everything that was on display, this post will highlight some of the odder and more fascinating tables and vendors.

The industry is packed with new personal defense weapons (PDW’s) in all shapes, calibers, and sizes with the intent of providing a small but controllable package that can be easily deployed and give a large force multiplier in a small package. While many give up a large amount of velocity and ballistic capability by shortening barrels, Cry Havoc has gone an entirely different direction. While giving up a short 2-3 seconds to assemble the rifle, the Quick Release Barrel (QRB) Kit allows for a full-length rifle to be concealed on or off the body but quickly attached on demand with no permanent aftermarket modifications to the firearm and is compatible with a large assortment of Free Float Hand Guards.
